I feel you. Linkin Park carried me through so many things in life. I saw the news that we lost Chester on my birthday at a celebration dinner while sitting next to a person who had tried to assault me previously at work. Just went home and stared at a wall wondering how this could happen. Every year there’s a time to listen to Chester on my birthday. I wonder what he’d have to say in his music as the years have passed.

He loved his band, and the "fans" that are being awful now, are no doubt the same ones that drove him to take his life when they spewed hate over the band's last musical direction change before he was gone. He just wanted to make music with his friends, of course he would want them to continue to do that.

    • @Blackasnight751
      @Blackasnight751 День тому

@@Fyre11 While I agree that Chester would want the band to go on and that all he really cared about was making music with his friends, I don't think it's right to say that the fans are the ones who drove Chester to take his own life. It’s okay if a fan doesn’t agree with a band’s decision. I mean, I don’t necessarily agree with their decision to come back, even though I do think it’s what Chester would have wanted; it just doesn’t feel right to me. But that doesn’t mean I hate Linkin Park or something silly like that-I just don’t agree with them. Chester loved all his fans, even those who didn’t agree with everything the band did, and I don’t think he would want to see his fans blaming each other for something that was ultimately his decision.

Hey Knox, big fan here, my father passed last year after a fight with S4 cancer and we struggled to select a song that we knew he'd like for a tribute part of his service, he always liked LP but not one of us heard this until we stumbled on it and it suited the service so well, the song was played alongside his life in photos of him growing up and bringing us into the world and our family growing with him and us growing with him with the last photo being a special one of all of us while the song got to the peak riff, the song hits me hard each time I hear it like it broke me that day of the funeral, it's hard to hear but always makes me recall so many many memories I have with him. I sincerely hope your mum wins her fight, I know how heavy the process is all I can do is send you love and strength. Thanks for reading if you did. Peace

His voice was the definition of authenticity. I’d put very few artists in that category where I can genuinely feel them when they sing. Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon is another. Every lyric matters to them. That’s why this song coming out when it did in 2017 hit much different after Chester died. His suicide came almost two years after my dads and it fucked me up for awhile.

To follow this up, I would highly recommend Over Again by Mike Shinoda. Just to show a viewpoint of someone close to Chester and how they dealt with his passing.
With regards to this song, it went through multiple layers. When it first came out, it was haunting and beautiful, but didn't really have any significant meaning or ties to anything. It was supposed to be a B track song. Then, Chris Cornell passed away, and Chester chose to perform this on Jimmy Kimmel, instead of Rock Star, to honor his close friend. When Chester passed, it became about Chester's legacy.
If you want to stay in the LP vein, Castle of Glass, but probably should save that for a military based holiday.

I did listen to Emily's introduction and hearing her sing Chester's parts made me a certain kind of way, and it wasn't a good feeling.
Perhaps they should just move forward and not have her performing songs that so many people used to get through some of their darkest and toughest moments in their life. That's the difference I heard from the new singer (sorry, I don't know her name); when she belted, or "yelled," there wasn't much of a rhythm to it...? I don't know how to actually explain it but when Chester did it, it was as if Chester put everything on the line in every note (I'm not saying artists don't do this but it's pretty rare to hear). There will never be another but imitation is a form of flattery. I wish her the best and for fans to not hate her too much.

Thank you for keeping Chester’s memory in the public eye.
Oh and the big reason why die hard Linkin Park fans are upset with Emily as singer is not because she is a woman or is taking. Over for Chester it is because of her real ties with Scientology and her support of a rapist. Scientology doesn’t believe mental illness exists, also Chester we sexually abused as a kid so her taking his place is a slap in the face to him and the fans.

    • @feyenoordfreakjeremy

She broke ties with that rapist when the evidence came out. She left scientology because of her sexuality. She already said sorry for those things. People needs to stop having an opinion of years ago. Mike and the others have faith in her. So should we

You won’t though, because god forbid you see any negativity in a band you like.
Also writing this brings me no fucking joy at all. Linkin Park mean more to me than I could ever explain or express to you. That band is why I exist and why I love music.

Luckly I seen them 3 times before and him 1 time. So we have those memories

What i dont understand, is why they're playing the old songs ina different key. Chester always performed the songs in the same key they were recorded in - it just tskes me completely out when i hear these songs with their new singer, in a new key. They dont sound like Linkin Park ro me anymore. They sound like a Linkin Park cover band now. RIP Chester. also defending rapists no matter what the situation is not okay.

My problem with the "new Linkin Park" is that it's NOT Linkin Park. Call it something else. Mike and the Knock Offs or something. Seriously though, call it something else. They sound good. I wish them success but DON'T call it Linkin Park.

Yes, they did. No one could ever replace Chester, and no matter what they were never gonna be able to make everyone happy, but that doesn't have to mean that LP dies with him. Emily isn't a replacement, she's the next chapter. Honestly The Emptiness Machine felt very much like a classic LP song, extremely so even. If that song is any indication for the upcoming album, then i am all the way on board.

Please don't support a cult that is now using Emily as part of their recruitment arm. I think the band should go on, but given the beliefs of a Scientologist, Emily can't connect with the subject matter! * To understand, I found excellent content on Growing Up in Scientology, which explains the controversy. She could distance herself from the cult easily, without any negative effects on herself. The fact that she says nothing, screens that she's an active Scientologist. Pathetic they allowed her to sing Chesters vocals.

@Izzy.Izzy.B maybe some of us don't want to connect with it in the way we had before. I listened to LP at my lowest and since his death, I cannot listen to those songs. Emily gives a whole new meaning to the songs. It's no longer about being depressed is about fighting through that shit.
