    G’day from the UK! Nice video Justin. I’m still using the original Canon r and shoot mainly landscape but also some wildlife.The r is a solid camera and the 30megapixels is decent for landscape however for birds and wildlife it’s lacking in responsiveness. That r5 ii seems to be the perfect answer for covering both bases. Maybe time to bite the bullet! Good luck with your challenge 👍

    Very helpful video. Looks like you are using back-button autofocus. If yes, would love to hear more about your preferences for focus. Thanks.

    Consider having her extend her right arm to cover one eye with her hand. Naturally, the R5's autofocus should select the exposed eye. An additional test could involve standing a few feet behind swaying blossoms to determine if the autofocus maintains focus on the intended eye. Placing your hand directly in front of the lens might be overly drastic.

    I love how you say "OLD" R5. Like a few years ago it was still the flagship.

    • @the_camera_life
      @the_camera_life  3 місяці тому

      Haha yeah I have started calling it the OG R5 instead, it’s definitely still an epic camera. The high iso test I just did shows it might even be a little better in some respects.

    Super recording and material! Thank you for the review of the R5 Mark II. The R5 Mark II is already on its way to me. I am mainly afraid of the ventilation holes when taking pictures in the forest, meadows, on the beach, etc. (small bugs, midges, sand, dust and other dirt). What can you say about it? What is your opinion? Nikon Z9/Z8 and Sony A1/A7xxx / A9xxx do not have such holes. These holes seem to be isolated from the electronics. However, I am wondering about cleaning it, e.g. removing dust particles, small flies, dirt, etc.

    Great job. It’s a dream camera for sure but awfully pricey!

    Can you notice the megapixel difference between the r3 and r5? I’m considering trading in my r3 for the r5 just for megapixel. But my r3 has been absolutely flawless and I love the batteries lol.

    • @samarianosans
      @samarianosans 3 місяці тому +4

      I have the r6mk2 & the r5 .. I would not trade it . the r3 is a better camera than the r5 . its jut like 30% more cropping you can do and to be honnest is not worth .

    • @ItsBerg
      @ItsBerg 3 місяці тому +2

      Yes it is!!!! I traded my r3 for an r5ii… besides the integrated battery grip, the r5ii is a 45mp r3. This is my perfect camera.

    • @the_camera_life
      @the_camera_life  3 місяці тому +1

      You can definitely see the extra resolution, but if it’s worth it or not depends on what you are shooting.
      I’m currently making a high iso test video, the R3 still comes out on top!
      If you need to crop and are shooting 1600 and below the R5ii will be better for sure.
      If you are shooting landscapes etc you will love the extra detail of 45mp, but if you are mainly shooting for social media the R3 actually has more dynamic range.
      What do you shoot mainly?

      I’m shooting post videos with the Osmo Pocket 3 and wide angle adapter. The action videos are usually the gopro hero 12.

      @@the_camera_life Thanks for a quick reply. Yes, if you don't mind, please do a closeup test. Doesn't have to be a macro, just anything with minimum focusing distance. any difference in focusing speed? Thanks,

    Hello sir .Is Canon R5 mark2 is better than sony A74 for videography?

    • @the_camera_life
      @the_camera_life  3 місяці тому +1

      I’m sure there a more qualified people on UA-cam to answer this than me but objectively yes the R5ii is better than the a74 for videography especially given the extensive options for high resolution, high frame rate, raw, clog2 and many codecs all without a crop required.
      What the a74 has is a much cheaper price, many more lens options and still great video quality especially for tripod shots at regular frame rates.
      A better comparison to the A74 is the R6ii both in price and video capabilities.
      What camera to do you currently have?

    Question: does the R5 mark 2 have the same screen dimensions as the R3? I’m struggling to find screen protector for the Canon R5 mk.2

    • @the_camera_life
      @the_camera_life  3 місяці тому +1

      I just measured and they both seem to be the same size at 75mm x 56mm so I think an R3 screen protector would work perfectly! Hope you are enjoying the R5ii!

    youre using a limited area AF thats why it keeps losing the subject as you move. use a whole area AF to truly test the AF.

    Does this prove that the Canon R5 II has faster and more accurate autofocus compared to the R3?

    • @the_camera_life
      @the_camera_life  2 місяці тому

      Hmm I don't think it proves it, but it's at least on par with the R3 in most situations I have tested. I did a sports shoot with the RF 50mm 1.2 shooting wide open and the R5ii tracked really well, far better than the OF R5 but similar to the R3.
      What I would say is it isn't worth buying the R3 for an autofocus advantage.

    Why waste time testing with big subjects like human being.
    You test it with small birds skipping among the bushes/ twigs.

    • @the_camera_life
      @the_camera_life  3 місяці тому +1

      The goal for this was to test it specific for portraits of humans as this camera will be heavily used for weddings etc and my background is photographing people.
      Testing it on little birds would not give an indication of how it would work for an event like a wedding.

      The original R5 should be showing white arrows to select the other eye. Something seems off about your settings in this test. I don’t find the original jumpy between eyes, I’ve been using it for 4 years. I generally find it locks unless I move it to the other eye. I usually set back af on to one of the small area modes and * set to eye autofocus and when doing this I’ll get a white box around the eye and an option to track the other eye. Nice video though, nice job showing the camera screen. You could get a ninja and record the output also to cut between footage.
