I like very much the idea of signing Alonso to a short term deal with opt-outs and a high AAV. The more I think about it, I'm starting to dread the idea of giving a lifetime contract to Vlad, given his history of weight problems; I can't forget Prince Fielder! A short-term contract to Alonso gives Clifford 2 or 3 years to show whether he's capable of developing into Pete Alonso Mark II, as many people think he is.
I wanted Alonso back, but he screwed himself not signing the 7 year deal...at this point I'd rather find a trade for vlad and pay him. Link him with soto and Lindor for the future.

But if the Mets were to offer him a 7 to 9 year deal $158 millions like the one he turned down before, then he’ll stay. The Mets are being used. Pete is not worth such a gamble.
Do u think the Mets would trade Baty Clifford McNeil Blackburn for Luis Castillo . The Mariners need a 3B 1B They always loved McNeil and they get a lesser starter to replace Castillo
