Jin (the author) made a history with this and other vocaloid songs, then it got a manga adaptation (it’s more like a continuation of the songs history tho), then it got a novel format and a anime, you should hear/read/watch (idk) in that order so you don’t get that confused on some things.
The series as a whole is called Kagerou Project, but the anime specifically was called Mekakucity Actors. Kagerou Daze is an alternate name for the project and the name of this song
Well, both names make sense for the series. Mekakucity Actors is a play on the group of main characters, the Mekakushi-dan, while Kagerou Project references the supernatural plane of existance the series is based around.

I'm getting emotional and upset because my brother wanted to watch a live action show that I know I won't like because it's not even fantasy, and I have failing grades in my online classes and if I don't have non failing grades by tomorrow then they'll force me to go back to dumb public school where I have even WORSE grades that are MUCH harder to fix, and there are mean teachers and people there that make me want to die because it's so difficult, and my siblings have the gul to say I'M selfish, like, this is my potential future we're talking about hear, like, seriously, you two are the BIGGEST hypocrites I know, and that's the reason that I don't like you😭.( I'm sorry for dumping all this here, it's just that no one present that has the compasity for it will listen, and it's really hard to deal with alone😓.)
