- Dolly Parton and Melissa Etheridge sing Dolly's "I Will Always Love You". Dolly wrote this as a goodbye song for Porter Wagoner when she decided to go her own way in the music business in which Porter got her started.
Lyric:
If I should stay I would only be in your way
So I'll go but I know I'll think of you each step of the way
And I will always love you I will always love you
Bitter-sweet memories that's all I am taking with me
Goodbye please don't you cry we both know that I'm not what you need
But I will always love you I will always love you
I hope life treats you kind
And I hope that you have all that you've ever dreamed of
I wish you joy and happiness but above all of this I wish you love
And I will always love you I will always love you I will always love you

I'm binge watching Dolly duets cuz I love how she harmonizes with people... It sounds so heavenly
Wow...I'm blown away how they complimented each other. Fabulous duet...
Dolly's really great. She could easily adapt to any artist she sings with. She changes things and blends on stage with ease every time I watch her even if there's difference in era. She's very talented indeed.
+Aoi Sora I so agree
+Tim Unold I think they got some great harmony. She has a great voice and really picks guitar really good!
Yes, this Melody is a little different than her original but she adapted to Melissa's way.
beautiful...what glorious harmony those 2 have together
Absolutely superb....what a great mix of voices
What a duo. Two of my favorite muscians.
Their voices sound good together. Melissa can sing country and Dolly can sing rock. Melissa is so humble and Dolly is humble also. Great show!!!❤❤
Dolly will live forever after writing this beautiful song!
I watched this when it first aired, catching up on it again. Had forgotten just how good it was. Their voices mesh well together. Melissa looks like she is just in awe of Dolly! I think they are both having a great time.
Wow. What a great show of women supporting each other.
They are fantastic together!
I love Dolly Parton soooooooo much
What a gem
This song always brings me to my knees. But hearing it from Melissa+ Dolly,I'm losing it! Well done Ladies. Love 2 Both"
they really compliment each other ! love them both
Dolly plays second fiddle to no one, yet she is so humble and classy.
Thanks for the background of this song. I didn't know that was what it was about. I love these two women.
Just amazing
love dolly!! class
So so so beautiful
Beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful!!
Amazing performance! Your great together ❤
wOw! woohooooo Ms Dolly!!!! Go Mellisa!
These women have such phenomenal voices! Take THAT Whitney Houston!
Margo,,, DOLLY wrote that song , but it was Whitney Houston that made it as famous as it is today because of her singing it on the bodyguard . No one will ever sing it like Dolly though!
Notice how beautifully Dolly harmonizes with others. If you don’t think so listen to the Trio album.
Maybe she doesn't always sing clean, but that's part of her expression. She intentionally sings dirty sometimes and off key, but that's just called the blues and really is the trademark of the real and rare soul singers. And Melissa is one of those. She masters the black keys on the piano with her voice. That to people with limited capability to feel the blues might feel like being off key but she absolutely expresses the pain in her soul as she wants to. The ability to express herself is absolutely stunning. She has such a versatility with which she expresses her emotions: from soft to raw to roaring like a lion, from silent tones to screaming, from incredibly low for a woman to extremely high. Her dynamic is like no other. And her voice is beautiful and in between the rawest emotions she also reveals much vulnerability. This skill to show vulnerability together with rawest emotions makes her singing and her person irresistible. She doesn't hide her emotions. She shares it with the world and is always at full, gives always her all, her best. She's in a league of Tina Turner, Brian Adams, Bruce Springsteen, Janis Joplin, Robert Plant. She's one of the best rock voices there is.
Well said. I feel the same way. One of the great voices of all time. 🙂
Wow!!! Wonderful. Gwen
I didn't know anything of Melissa Ethridge until this Crossroads. I came to it because of Dolly Parton. However, I really like the take Melissa does on this. She also does an excellent cover on Jolene. Just love good music.
DOLLY IS SO BLESSED BY GOD WITH THIS SONG SHE CREATED AND SPREAD TO ALL THE WORLD BECAUSE SHE IS BORN TO LOVE LOVE AND TO ALWAYS YOU AND ME❤❤💋💋💕💟💄👠
My soulmate I miss her, each & every day from that day in juli 2003, but I know Ill think of you every step off the way.
LYA
This is awesome.
WOW 🤩
super
Super doly
Has Etheridge done any country crossover? I think she should. Didn't somebody country pick up her Sleep While I Drive? I mean she IS a Kansas girl.
I think she did country before she got into rock music. Look up Wikipedia for that. That's where you find her story.
Trisha Yearwood covered You Can Sleep While I Drive.
lekker nummer love you
yes i would listen to your breath..
aleksandar are you somewhere out there??
:-) good night or so
Well, like Dolly said: I made Whitney famous and she made me rich ( as in 50 million dollars....)
I just dont appreciate Melissa Ethridge's voice. I like her hits, but not on this song. Dolly has the voice of the daughter of Angels.
Melissa Etheridge can't sing but in very limited octave range and short in duration. She was one I used to like with a few songs but the more I see and listen to her....she is too limited....as a guitarist and singer. One great song she wrote was YOu can Sleep While I Drive but Trish Yearwood made it better.
No one does You Can Sleep While I Drive like Melissa...
Kim. Shut up
Kim you have no idea
