This was so nice of her. Some celebrities would have made him feel bad about not being the best interviewer. Didn't really think anything of her before, but this makes her seem pretty cool.
The bumbling British lad, talking about himself was clearly a deliberate comedy ploy. His career would be improved more by this tactic, than a bland normal interview. He probably won't have a big future in celebrity interviews, but his career is going well.
I really hope you're not serious...

Exactly :D She gave a lot of herself to help him since he looked so nervous ! that's what we should all do ! I assume another actor would have waited for the typical questions, she didn't, and went on with the flow~

Why did this get such a rep for being a bad / awkward interview? It went great. It just sounded like she had been sitting through a lot of press, and was sick answering the same old questions. If anything this guy probably came as a relief.
All I can come up with no other answer than, those people are hating/jealous of him. this guy is making a pretty girl laugh and have a good time in an interview. They wish they could do that if they had a chance. I find the interview to be really cool. It flows nicely.
The only bad thing that he wasn't so fast on his words and having difficulty expressing himself at times.
It's because like you said she wasn't saying anything about the movie and he wasn't asking about the movie. Even if she answers the same questions over and over it's always from a different interviewer which means a different news source. It's a "Bad," Interview because he didn't get any real info about the movie for the publication he works for.
Actually this is a great interview. Not just for being funny and enjoyable but because it achieved exactly what it should. It´s purpose is to promote the movie, to promote Mila and the news channel. I´d bet this got more people into the cinema then all the other boring online interviews with stereotypical questions and it certainly made Chris Stark popular enough meet many more celebrities.
^^ All this. If the interviewer would have asked all the same boring questions, I doubt this video would have racked up 13 million views. Alot of people are copying this more personal, funny and sometimes awkward type of style now, just look how popular Carpool Karaoke is.

This interview was slightly groundbreaking when it dropped, now loads of interviewers for these movie one on one press situations are doing casual chats with celebs.
He set the trend - real life trailblazer.
I did a couple of those interviews and most often it's the celebrity who starts a casual chat even before the camera's rolling. you actually have to be very mind- and careful with your time and not let that going on for too long, cuz those few minutes are over way to quickly and you mostly still have questions you have to ask. or, for example, if you are really writing for a film magazine, small talk will do nothing for your readers because they might not be interested in it (a chat like above would be way more suitable for a tabloid imo). sometimes the publicist's will actually ask you to keep the conversation centered around the movie - there is even that example around the 4:40 mark in this one when someone from outside the picture tries to intervene. other times I feel like it's not genuine but rather some form of tactic to chip away at the journalist's designated time so there a fewer dumb questions asked.
This interview stands out 10 years later still so great marketing

Dude, this is like the plot to one of those corny, schmaltzy feelgood movies: Some guy interviews a famous actress for a radio station and then falls in love. They'd probably have some tense thriller plot where the fella on 5Live and maybe Capital FM fail in their interviews/swooning Mila, and hire hitmen to have him assassinated for getting the girl, or maybe they try to tarnish Kunis' reputation on the airwaves.
