The result comes mostly from the driver here, not the car.
because he lets it drop out of boost? it does seem like he did that. did he have the two step set @ too low rpm on the launch also? Damn he missed 2nd gear bad. They never recover from banging the rev limiter very good. I see your point, Driver made many mistakes through the entire run.
And yet it performs. Its almost as if.. dare i say it.. it was designed for this.

Am i tripping? Or are the exhaust ports on the wrong side for an RB engine? I'm pretty sure its a VR6 engine.

Ya I got all exited when I clicked on the video on I saw that it said it had an R33 engine. That isn't one just by judging the sound. I think it's a VR6 model. But why no 5 cylinder😭😭

it´s a r32 engine, bored / stroked to 3.3 liters, hence the R33.. some call the VR6 (2.8-2.9) For R30 when they convert them to 3 liters =)

guys..... that's not an R33 engine, it's a 24 valve VR6, a volkswagen motor. the RB series engine has the exhaust (and therefore the turbos) on the driver's side, opposite of the engine displayed in the video.

Quick yes.. but much prefer a 5 cylinder in it..
The turbo needs to come in a lot earlier, the car was hitting good boost then almost straight away having to change gear.
Really losing loads of speed from the car with it kicking in like that, shame because that car's got a lot more to give that it put out.
Agree to some point there, problem is at 1000+ hp high timing and big turbo, the amount of fuel pushing in, its hard to get it to spool earlier, what helps a lot here at this point is the transmission, a tre step auto or sequential gearbox.
@@LuckySyke Have you considered electronic boosting, they can be fitted with a one way valve system meaning the air can only flow in and not back-flow, and because it's not exhaust recirculation gas it's entering the combustion chamber at a far cooler temperature.
That means the burn is considerably cleaner and more efficient, this can be used in a bi-turbo manner, providing boost at lower rpm's and then allowing for the larger turbine to feed the higher rpm range.
The most difficult part of this is making it linear, ie making it so you don't see or feel the transition from one turbine to the next.
It means putting rpm sensors on both turbines and the crank so they can be timed to spin at the correct values for the optimal transitions.
I look forward to seeing this car when it's running right because it's going to be unimaginably fast.

Not an expert in engines, but looks like VR6 to me. 0:56, look at ignition coils being positioned somewhat 15ish degree as VR6 would.

it's a VR6 engine, look at the angle of the ignition coils. They called it an "r33 engine" because it was originally a 3.2 litre VR6 from a VW R32. Displacement has been increased to 3.3 litre, hence "r33".
