There is no such concrete career after a search and rescue course. Rather it will be more utilized if you encounter a rescue situation in your personal life.

Like you even I had an IT background of almost 2 decades but now I want to explore this field.... Is, 42 late to start a mountaineering career, and your thoughts on the same would really help me.
It's never too late. But I will suggest you to understand the challenges that will come along. However best way to understand them is to take a step and feel the ground and keep going while preparing.
