one thing which i experience is , I was not able to do step of linking created compute to Runtime as button of create was disabled, but still prompt flow works..Let me know anyone face the same..and why so it worked...

can we use compute cluster instead of compute instance if computeinstance is not working?

Yes, you can. Compute cluster is more suited for production scenarios.
