In my opinion, don’t listen to haters. 4&5 while not as well written or popular, are important to the main character of the story of the Pirates of the Caribbean (not Jack). I loved how the 5th movie ended really wrapping up the story.

From the very start, Johnny Depp based his character on Keith Richards, guitarist from the Rolling Stones. The person that played Jacks father in this film, was in fact Keith Richards. I have to imagine Keith jumped at the opportunity to play this role.
I heard they wanted to write him into the second film, but his touring schedule conflicted with filming.
The Maelstrom scene was filmed in a big warehouse with rain machines and a turntable with mock-ups of the Dutchman and Pearl. Not only was the cast soaking wet while filming, but also freezing as the water temperature was kept around 33°F/0°C to prevent germs.
The 4th and 5th are good, Ian Mcshane’s performance as Blackbeard alone makes the 4th one worth watching, and Javier Bardem’s villain is fun (plus Barbosa’s story in both films are amazing).
The 4th and 5th movies are worth the watch, and I'm certain you will like them too.
The Fourth film; On Stranger Tides *is* a good film, despite what you've been led to believe.
It was the beginning of telling a more random stories, that take place in Jack's life, and it came out of the gate swinging.
But, Will & Elizabeth's story is over, so they're not present.
The opening in London is funny ...

No 4 and 5 are a must to understand the story
Uuuugh I don't like when people tell reactors not to watch parts of a series. Even if they aren't good, it will be fun to see you make your own opinion about it and respond to it. I personally like 4, and there's a ton to like about 5, even though I don't like the product as a whole (I love some stuff on the character level for one character specifically, and some set pieces are so fun). I would LOVE to see you watch the rest.
With how much you like family connections in films, the fifth movie might be worth a watch. I enjoy it as a fun 2 hour adventure.
I would watch all five movies. I love all of them.
I always say don’t listen to people that say skip this movie or that movie. Watch and judge for yourself. The 4th movie made $1.1B, so a lot of folks liked it. It’s a good movie. The 5th movie although not one of my favorites was still a solid movie as well, it tied to pirates story up a bite. My problems with it were more a me problem than the movie.

I liked 4 and 5, and you get to see the quest for the fountain of youth, and the 5th has a great twist with Barbosa, my favorite pirate. Listen to Bill Frantz, dont listen to haters. If you like the POTC, you should finish out the franchise.

So, since no-one else has done so already, I thought I'd mention an interesting deleted scene that's an alternate/expanded version of Jack's and Beckett's conversation, which sheds more light on their history:
"Beckett: We had a deal, Jack. I contracted you to deliver cargo on my behalf; you chose to liberate it.
Jack: ...People ain't cargo, mate."
And Beckett's motivations:
"It would be so nice if all of us could be on holiday year-round. But someone must ensure that the world turns properly. People are what they love, Jack, and what they love is cargo. They love spices, and linens, and silks, and plantains. And as long as it is delivered on time and in sufficient supply, then they are content to be nothing more than figures on a ledger."
This it´s a phenomenal movie, with a total rollercoaster at the end. Some facts:
- I think that Norrington it´s a very underrated character. In his best or his fallen, his behaviour was always like a real MAN. That final redemption, leaving Elizabeth and the rest the chance to escape, honors him. And of course he loved her in all moment, and "deserved" that final kiss.
- Jack´s father it´s Keith Richards, the guitarist of the legendary Rolling Stones.
Captain Teague is Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones. Depp modeled his character after Richards.
Back in the day 2&3 were much maligned but i think the finale of 3 might be my favorite of all the Pirates film. Its awesome and fun, plus hoist the colours always gives me chills.
I liked this one much more than most. The wedding scene was much fun as well as them both taking down Beckett at the end (great drop in of James Cameron at the end - made me laugh).
The reason for Davy Jones's anger when he sees the tear, is because he hates himself for still caring enough about her to actually shed a tear. He considers love to be a "dreadful bond", so to find himself still bound by love, is the ultimate defeat for him.
21:32 There is a deleted scene in the encounter between Jack Sparrow and Lord Becket, which explains why Sparrow was branded, which makes me like Jack even better than I already did. (if you can believe it is possible). In the first movie you can see the Commodore lifting Jack's sleeve to reveal a "P", which in the first movie we assumed it meant "Pirate", but later we see the symbol is the logo from the Indian Trade Company, Lord Becket's enterprise.
In essence, Jack was navigating employed by the company, but when he learns what he was transporting he aborts the mission and after betraying the company he becomes a persecuted man, leaving him no other option but piracy.
In the deleted scene, when Becket was telling Jack about betraying the company, Jack responds "people are not cargo, mate!"
The delivery of "And so we shall go to war" makes me howl with laughter every time!

Probably the best gag in the whole trilogy .. .perfection.
Please do not listen to those who tell not to react to 4 and 5, they are good movies, worthy of a reaction.

these scenes where in rain, the actors told about it that it was not fun and they where wet and cold and their costums wet where very heavy and they shot a lot of hours in these rain conditions

Unironically, the cast was shooting this fight in the rain for about 10 weeks. And for some of the costumes they would be like 40 pounds heavier when you got them wet

4&5 are worth watching. They conclude the entire story very well
You should watch the next 2. Although not as good as the first 3, they are good on their own and button up a few loose ends as well as being entertaining....
4 and 5 get more hate than they deserve they have some good stuff in there

Could I suggest The Impossible? Incredible film but also it's 20 years I believe since the actual Tsunami so would be a good reminder to everyone to not forget all those effected x

How about you do a little experiment. Watch movie 4 and 5 and if you enjoy them, stop listening to haters in the future. Because haters are more likely to comment and are a vocal minority usually, people who enjoy things are the silent majority.
Yes to the forth as well as the fifth but, also catching a mini series could be quite fun like ,The odyssey or Black Beard.
4 and 5 are weaker, but there's one great reason to watch them, they do finish the story.
House of the Dragon season 2 comes out in the middle of June. Check out season one if you haven't already. ✌️
I'll say give 4 and 5 a try, like sure the first 3 are kind of one big story so the other ones feel a bit disconnected but I wouldn't say they are terrible movies
I think a lot of movies/series are a victim of their own success, if the first 3 Pirates movies never existed, people would have much more appreciation for the 4th and 5th films as they wouldn't have anything to compare them to. They're good movies on their own, they're just not as good as the first 3, story/cast wise, and people are let down when they don't live up to the success of the originals.
If you enjoy the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, I'd say there's nothing lost in enjoying the rest of them for what they are, and plenty of people would still watch along with you!

Yeah that was all actual rain. And the scene took something like 6 weeks to film. So they spent basically 2 months straight in a downpour lol.

the fourth one isn't AS good, but still fun and worth watching. It doesn't really follow as many of the old characters though.

And yes, the keeper of the Code, is Jack's Father, played by Keith Richards, which by the way is who Johnny Deep said he was imitating when he crafted the way Jack Sparrow moves and walks. Also, as for all of the "4 and 5 aren't as good" people say that because two of the major characters are not in those, so if your favorite is Jack Sparrow....you'll probably like them as I do.

This one is my favorite of the PotC movies, with the first one being a close second.
I wasn't too crazy about the 5th installment, but the 4th one, in my opinion, is worth a watch.

Personally this is my favorite. The dark opening and The back story of Davy Jones and Calypso are the biggest reasons why. And the action and comedy hold up as well or better than the first 2.
My one gripe isnt about the movie itself, but a character decision.
It is SO messed up that Calypso made Jones wait his ten years doing the job. Then didnt show up for him. And her lame ass excuse is..."its in my nature"
Goddesses should be able to overcome their "nature" better than anyone dont you think? Especially if doing so means spending ONE 24 hour period with your "love" every ten years. That is the lowest of low bar committments. She couldnt handle it.

Please, dont listen to whoever said to not watch 4 and 5. They are both entertaining in their own way. And if you really want to skip anything it would be 4 but totally not 5. 5 resolves and closes up everything unresolved from the first 3 movies. I promise you wont regret watching it.
The whole discussion on watching past the this one is valid.
The problem with the movies past this is they very much feel like movies that were made after the fact, with plots that desperately try to tie back to these.
The OG trilogy feel like a completed story and while the other may have some of the PotC comedy they just dont have the substance these ones did
Sorry to hear that it is getting so much harder to make reaction content. For a couple of years now I have greatly enjoyed watching along reaction channels such as this one and I hope that the (often ridiculous) claims in the future will lessen.
I think you should just continue with this series. You seem to be having so much fun with them that I can not imagine you not enjoying the final two. In my experience reaction content creators can watch any movie or show with more of an open mind than other people. Recently on another channel they watched the fourth and fifth movie and had a blast watching those.
I really think that too often people are in just two camps when it comes to an opinion about media these days. It is either the best thing ever or the worst. It seems rather limiting to me and it really is a shame that as a result it is difficult to have a civilized conversation about a movie or show.
Regardless of whether you will make a reaction video of the last two Pirates of the Caribbean movies I hope you enjoy them when watching!

Jack's dad, played portrayed by legendary rocker Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones?? Johnny Dell said he loosely based Jack Sparrows character on Mr. Richards.

People say this a lot, but it's like going from a 10/10 for the first movie, a 8-9/10 for the second two, and then 7-8/10 for the rest. They're not *as* good, no, but they're still fun, entertaining movies. The series definitely does suffer from losing Will and Elizabeth, but they're still very much worth watching.
Why does a reaction have to be all positive? Why not watch the bad ones for the sake of commenting on why they are bad and what you dont like?
Agreed, while 4 and 5 do not match up to the original trilogy of movies, they are still decent stories.
Other reasons to consider, like Rocky 5, it may not be a good movie, but you need to watch it to understand the stories that come afterward
While I don't disagree that reactions aren't required to be positive, viewers in general don't like it when reactors don't like a movie that they like, which does hurt views and the viewers' outlook on said reactor. That's why reactors tend to avoid the bad sequels in general. Also, people don't like to waste their time watching a movie that has a really good chance of being bad (especially if it's known for being bad). Cuz why not just spend time watching a movie that's known to be good? But of course, it's very possible to enjoy even the bad ones, so you never know.
4&5 are good in their own ways.

The adverts are necessary cuz it's what keeps the channel alive. Maintaining a YT channel costs time and money, and it can't be done at a loss.
