Totally agree with you Daniel! I own the Studio Desktop ( came free with my BMPCC 6K), but happily paid for the IPad version . Even just to say “thank you BM , no more subscription NLE ripoffs … a one off worthy purchase , and some cash for you guys to keep tweaking this bad boy !”

I'll def pay the $100, cause I've had a dream to use an ipad on a beach to edit rough cuts and then pick up easily after sun down on the desktop, and this just made a huge step towards that.

Daniel I think it's already clear, when u go to buy studio version it says One Time charge. I don't think BMD will change their politics as they basically sell video and audio equipment more than the software.

I have the Studio version for DR on my Mac Studio and my MacBook Pro 14”. I can move them around to other computers but I can’t have more than 2 active ones.
The iPad version might be less flexible and limits you to 1 active device.
Having two iPads 12.9 and 11 allows me to see the differences between the free and studio versions. Some of the features are obvious when they stick up the overlay saying that but I also discovered that some Studio functionality is hidden because the menu doesn’t pop up allowing you to use it. The best example of this is the clean video feed that you can access in the studio version which can be a big deal for some. I keep experimenting and trying to create new videos to see what works and how to make them better for me.
Can you use the Video Feed with an external Monitor? In the free Version it doesn’t work
@@DanielKovacs yes you can with the studio version. It gives you a pop up menu to connect to an external monitor and you can even use AirPlay.
@@DanielKovacs Following up, I just did a clean video feed using AirPlay to our TV that has an Apple TV 4K box into the HDMI input of a Samsung TV. No way to show the picture of it working in these comments. So cool to see it happen wirelessly.
Also I did use Magic Mask today and that works great and fast. However, Depth map runs real slow on this M1 iPad 12.9. I would go with magic mask as my first option in color grading as the best bet on this iPad.
@@chrisbogart687 so Magic Mask is available in the color page of studio version and works well? I'm on the fence on buying the studio version as I have it already for desktop.
Furthermore, is there a difference in render time because on the free version it was very slow and I remembered that on PC the free version doesn't use the same GPU engine as on the Studio so maybe it is the same here on iPad? Please let me knooow.
Not quite accurate that you need a license for each platform, as you said. One license can be shared by 2 computers (Mac, Windows, Linux) and those platforms can intermix. You need a separate license for iPadOS platform.

Brother is active in a system of Davince Studio. If you deactivate it and activate it in another system then it will be done.

No the Studio Version has the same 2 Pages officially. Only through the Shortcuts you can get the other pages. Doesn’t matter if Studio or Free
Thanks for your insights! Now I‘ve been playing around with it for quite some time on M2 iPP using the pencil exclusively. Unlocked the Edit page with keyboard. That, apparently, caused Resolve to freeze a few times. Had to force-quit it, and afterwards the panel was gone again.
Two reasons why - if I‘m not missing the features - I‘d want the Edit page:
> time remapping/ramps (important but not a dealbreaker)
> j and l - cuts. This _is_ paramount for me, and I tried and googled but couldn‘t find a cut page solution.
Any ideas?
Hi Daniel, Great Videos. Thank you so much❤. In the Fairlight Page there are on the right side some Meters where you can add some effects and also can Patch a microphone. My Problem, the sliders/meters are hiden and I can‘t open or show it. There are 3 dots, but that‘s no way to show the panels I need . Have you any idea for that problem? I Work with the free version, on my iPad Pro 6. gen and use a Keyboard and the pencil.

@@DanielKovacs I found: to patch a mic, you need to set a new shortcut. The existing don't work. Then the window to patch a mic open and you can patch. But, theres no sound from the Built-In Mic from ipad. External Mic don't work too. I hope Blackmagic will fix this soon.

Not really. Because every iPad App sitting behind the paywall of apple 🍎 is treated Differently. First i would be angry at Apple.
Second: For years most apps i had to purchase a license for esch Plattform. For example, windows different license to Mac. Which btw makes sense… because from a development standpoint you have to develop two apps.
So that Blackmagic gives a Platform license that can be used on windows and mac is not the industry standard. You should be grateful for that.
And one more thing: DaVinci Resolve has such a competitive pricing… you complaing just shows me the spoiled customer 😅😂
I bought the studio version, because I thought I need to buy it, to also import Media from my icloud. It still doesn‘t work. Where is the problem? BUG?
Hey man, thanks for your advise and input. Awesome. I registered for Black magic cloud so I can move my iPad projects to my desktop and open them. So far I can see the project but the clip info. I tried to relink on my desktop but it always opens a page on my internal drive not the iPad. When I save the iPad project to the cloud do I have to save something more than the project, proxy files for example. I'm lost. If you have time for any help I would be grateful. Thanks so much for your discoveries so far. Really made my week!!
The easiest way at the moment: use a external harddrive and store all of your project files there. Only save the Project itself via cloud. And when you switch to desktop plug in the exernal and than open the Cloud project.
Can I export edl or save the DaVinci project from iPad version so I can open it at my desktop?

This is for LumaFusion. I got it from Editor Keys. Would love to create my own one. Because i change to Layout for DaVinci to my custom Layout that i optimised for fast editing
