Uncharacteristic amount of good natured camaraderie from the Pugnus this episode. My immediate reaction was “aww, he’s not really a bugger after all” followed by “bastard’s planning something in’t he”
The micromaster bases are a cool idea, and for what they are they're done well. It's what I always wished cityformers would have been, fun display options in city mode, but great crazy looking robot modes too
I remember Airwave from 1989. Biggest bout of buyer's remorse with Transformers. I already picked up the Air Strike Patrol so naturally an airport seemed a sensible next purchase. I spent days trying to balance five micromaster jets on the head of this pin. Dumpster is an apt name for its alt mode. I'm sticking with that.
0:29 *Decepticon Airwave* is _thee_ very first "Transformer" toy I ever got, and I still have him to this day in storage! (And I got *Decepticon Skyhopper* a short time later... the only _G1_ toys I ever got-and-owned _during_ the _G1_ Era.) I'm gonna have to pull him out and put him on proper display, though, because just recently I picked up the _WFC Earthrise_ Modulator *Deluxe Decepticon Airwave* too! Coincidentally, decades ago when I got Airwave, I noticed an *important detail* in those little catalogues they used to provide inside the boxes. In addition to Airwave himself being pictured as white with blue trim and red face, the Airport Base actually had some flip-out wheels... meaning Decepticon Airwave was originally a missile-launching tank! Alas, it seems they abandoned the wheels before production, so it ended up being a static missile *turret* _instead of_ a missile *tank.*
I really like the micro masters, and their bases, and their modern siege upgrades. And I’m so proud of Ironworks of staying the best micromaster base for 30 years running. Now if only the new one came with that windmill…
The Micro Transformers were just fun. Fast transformations, neat little concepts. It was possible to use the city formers together with the Micro stations. I made one GIGANTIC city with Fort Max, Metroplex, Scoponok, Tripticon, and Omega Supreme and ALL the Micro Transformers playsets. With a little imagination, they looked like they were meant to go together.
i love bases/playsets for transformers, but they always feel like they need more space. like, i can barely park a single micromaster here, how am i supposed to have them posed all around havin a wee little chat?
Ha! I have some version or other of the mould that became G1 Shockwave, got it second-hand in the late 90s, and it took about twenty years before I discovered his fixed head was just a stiff neck.
I had Hothouse when I a kid, and I never k ew that the cannon extended either! I might actually still have him in a box somewhere. I’ll have look for him next time I have the need to rummage through the storage closet.
If you haven't got him already, lord above is Skystalker good. It's one of those 'I can't believe I own this' kind of magical toys. Just be very careful of the wings, as the snap hinges can snap off. I also majorly recommend getting Fireshot and Vanquish to man the cockpits.
Ahh...the Micromaster 'Bases'...the step up from the stations. God they were good. Skystalkers shuttle and Countdowns rocket base...Great fun. The combiner bases were great fun too.
fun-adjacent cracked me up! lol I found that the micromaster stations scale with Titan classs decently well. Have Black Zarek and Omega Supream fighting over a cyvertronian space-port. While the Ark is getting ready for lift off.
I really wish the WFC Micromasters had understood what made these so charming...Modulators are cool and all, but they really should've been voyagers AT LEAST.
Ok. The feature on Airwave you missed … in either mode you can throw it at you little brother, making him cry. It’s in the instructions and everything. Also that’s about all it was good for
this is probably going to be the second comment or something. anyway i don't know what airwave's base is doing for the donut town war effort with its transformation, i think both the good citizens and the evil citizens alike need an airport more than they need a dumpster the approximate size of one
I bought Airwave from somewhere, yard sale maybe. I don't know, I can't be assed to remember, honestly. I got him without any of his accessories though, including the jet, so I had no idea who th' hell he was. .....I guess I'm not really making a point, here. ....Uh....Look! What's that! ~runs off~
@@TRDQ I guess I can see that. I think it might shine in multiples though - stick a few of them around one of the more impressive ones like Ironworks, and you've got yourself a well-defended radar installation!

I liked the bit where the toy transformed into one thing from another, good idea that.

Yeah, I think the earthrise versions are my ideal version of it. Affordable transformer playsets that are also transformers

1:22 best transformer lemonade stand?

It’s a good day when I get home to see Gavin upload. Good little way to quickly unwind.

Good to have you back Repugnus.

Seeing them all hooked up in a circle like that. Childhood goal achieved. Hmm that's some good endorphins.
Absolutely stoked at the return of donut town

I do have him but yeah he's in a bit of a condition

I'm gonna go to the beach on Friday but cool review
Another quick awesome review, thanks Gavin!
A windmill is just as much of a disguise as a construction yard.
Huh, I was just wondering when Gavin was going to post his next video. It really is a small world.
Fun video! Thank you!

Huh... The origins of the ER Modulators. Even with out robot modes, they still quite fun toys.
Wow the designers of earthrise air wave made his missile launcher mode pretty spot on with the g1 version. Both are pretty disappointing.
Airwave is the son of Megatron and Starscream. I refuse to elaborate.
Micromasters are fantastic. I must buy more soon. 👍
I came for Repugnus, but I stayed for the Evita reference.
2:45 YAAAAAAAYYYYYY!!!😄
Do kind of miss the radar dish on new ironworks.
Wait, the stickers tell a story? I've got to see this.
Once upon a time:
32.
Are you going to review the Earthrise versions of these 4?
I did do Greasepit maybe? Probably not if I'm honest it was exciting to get them but now I'm a little underwhelmed
I really wish the WFC Micromasters had understood what made these so charming...Modulators are cool and all, but they really should've been voyagers AT LEAST.
Make em voyagers and pack in the micromaster partners.
The Botropolis set from Amazon feels like the proper way Modern Micros should have been done
They are so cute
somehow this video has convinced me to track down generations selects hot house. genuinely not sure how that happened.
Ok. The feature on Airwave you missed … in either mode you can throw it at you little brother, making him cry. It’s in the instructions and everything.
Also that’s about all it was good for
Remember to go back and show people you can put 3 titan masters in each cockpit of wfc jetfire
Gavin can I get your opinions on what is the best combiner for my buck, any scale any company
Dx9 Stunticons, for me. Big lanky lads, well built - fun transformation and that combined mode is mwah
@@TRDQ their g2 breakdown is insane and I can’t wait to pick it up, do they have the others?
@@splitproductions9908 G2 I'm not sure. I think so?
Overlooked

it's the surface-to-air missiles! It's shootin' down the bombers who try and blow a hole in the donut
I really hope you'll get to Countdown, Skystalker and the uber cool Battlefield HQ (Full-Barrel and Overflow)!
I think I've done Countdown! Others will be coming in the following decades for sure
@@TRDQ you're right! ua-cam.com/video/4sBJAjzAGNQ/v-deo.html
I thought this was a repost cause micromaster bases take up the same space in my brain

“A while back”
Gavin it’s only been 10 days, does Toby run your upload schedule? 😭
Isn't a while back correct?
Gavin your hands are shaking, are you getting enough sleep? Or are you always this excited when reviewing toys? 😜😁
I mean it could be any number of things, medical conditions etc
I think you're being too hard on the airport, that's a cute lil SAM site
It's fine - I think compared to the others it's a bit of a letdown

Airwave is a canal

My underware is snotty from seeing repugness again.
