Vielen Dank für dieses gut erklärteTutorial! Chapeau
You're welcome and I hope you keep watching more.
Hello Clavers! I left a message in your live chat box. I like how you used the several different grays, and you said ten different grays. Wow! I never thought about how many colors you can make out of two colors. I learn something different every time you post. (The background to getting your colors focused on bringing the painting out). Wow! Beautiful! 🖌️🎨
Glad you enjoyed it, Sharon 😊 I think you’re referring to the underpainting palette? I use 5 shades of the monochrome, not 10. Gray can work, but it doesn’t have to be gray either; any color that won’t appear in the final layer is perfect.
@@ClaversOdhiambo Great information! I thought it was ten different grays. I didn't know you can use any colors that won't appear. Thank you! 🖌️🎨
@@sharonjohnsonartmy pleasure 👍🏽
Thank you! This will be quite helpful when I get back to oils
All the best!
Hi Clavers, marvelous as usual! I have a question: during the preparation of the 5 shades of acrylic gray for the underpaint, how do you manage its fast drying time? Are you fast enough to use just one preparation? Are you going to refresh the shades of gray more than once, during underpainting? Thank you.
Thank you :) for a painting this big I will mix the colors once or twice more. In real time such an underpainting takes about four hours, on which time acrylics can’t stay wet untouched. One way to keep the palette from drying as quick is to “disturb” the colors every 20 minutes or so so their upper layer doesn’t get time to dry.
good afternoon my favorite artist, IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME since you last posted. i hope everything is doing well ,if not i pray things get better for you. because of you i want to do an oil portrait. question why is it hard to find dark skin male photos to use as a reference.
Hi Sherline, all good over here :) if you can check out, follow or reach out to some photographers on IG who post such photos (instagram.com/aboya.8/, instagram.com/osborne_macharia/, instagram.com/_the.g.h.o.s.t_/ are a few that I follow) you'll find from them better pictures than from a generic Google image search. IG will also recommend more similar artists/photographers.
