Although the work is quite praiseworthy, but seeing such disrespectful commercialisation makes everything go in vain...touching the idols with feet, and repairing the broken idols are very unacceptable acts...as per sashtra from the making till puja if such breakage happens it cannot be repaired and used for archana, even broken vigrahas have been prohibited for archana...how come they are doing such things for mass production !!!
these are mostly gift and decorating idols. We make idols for worshipping with totally different process with all ethical and spiritual values.

To make the idol of shree Ram in ayodhya, the artist hit the stone with cilsel and hammer. After that the idol was polished by some instrument. There is no sin for the artist who makes the sculpture. They have to work with the idol. As a sculpture artist I said this.

@@mixedtube2380 You are right but its as long as the figurine is okay, if the main figure gets disfigured like a hand gets broken then it shouldn't be repaired...this is only in case of stones and wood, for clay and other stuffs like metals it can be repaired by means of plaster and re making...because of this, any stone idol has been given the highest time credibilty for archana of 8000 years, ie any stone idol can be used for worshipped for 8000 years, then it should be replaced by means of Navakalebar process, although there are exceptions to these...hence a stone idol maker should be very cautious 🙂...
