- KUTX Presents Momma
Hailing from LA- Allegra Weingarten, Etta Friedman, & Aron Kobayashi Ritch brought their youthful indie sentiments to Studio 1A in celebration of their debut with Polyvinyl Record Co. Although their newest record might be a departure from what they’ve normally done, it still maintains the guitar-forward Momma flair they’ve come to be known by. Lead singer Etta Freidman noted in their “Making of Household Name” UA-cam documentary that “Brave” held the most meaning for her because the lyrics worked to bring her back up after a powerful breakup. The courage she daily tried to muster amidst the heartbreak echos her influential heros, like Nirvana, Pavement, & The Smashing Pumpkins, that helped inspire the rise and fall lyrical theme of this album. Although it acted as an affirmation song in it’s beginning, the song is “good vibes” now that they’re perfoming it on their current tour around the states, & even their next go-round in 2023 opening for indie giants, Death Cab for Cutie. There’s no doubt that, “Household Name” is paving a new lane in the indie rock highway for Momma & KUTX is here for it.

I'm 42 years old and they're cool as fck. Pure essence of 90s highschool locker room indie rock, but totall great.
Greatest rock band right now
@casicadaminuto1 - I’m 52 and I Agree with your comment 100%
@@FlorioPhotoI’m 63 and recently saw these guys. My current favorite band right now. Hoping they swing back around. Once wasn’t enough.
Yes !!! That’s awesome to see zoomers embracing 90s rock.
Same here man. These girls are killing it.
Really cool of Billy Corgan to drum for them in a pinch.
Mix on this is chef's kiss!
Love them! Reminds me of Veruca Salt in their prime.
“Household name” is one of the best indie rock albums of the decade so far. Their live performance leaves a little to be desired, but they are still young and learning how to do it. I highly recommend giving the album a few listens though, every song is good from start to finish. My favorites are probably medicine, motorbike, and brave. Especially for those who love and miss Pinback, give this a listen.
I'm a huge Pinback/Rob Crow fan and this year, I listened to this band so much. Interesting to see another out there!
I had them play my wife's 50th bday bash 2 months ago and it was the greatest thing ever!!
It's the best thing I've listened to collectively in a decade. You're 100% right. Love The Cribs and their work, some tracks from Beabadoobee (they are touring together), but Household Name is insanely good. Beyond anything I've heard in the last 10 years.
Household Name is one of my favorite albums of all time
I want more. Familiar vibes with fresh faces and energy eternal. So much potential. I’m enthralled!!
Momma is the best
OK so at first I was like "mmmmm, very Breeders!" then they mentioned the song HUMMER... OMG points! Then i listened to the rest of the song......... LOVE!
They do a great cover of "Divine Hammer" too.
You can hear the Liz Phair influence as well.
Breeders were not as dynamic as Momma.
Thanks for making this happen, I thought this session was great! Austin, TX... anybody there? (in fairness, the studio audience was alive and well)
The doubled vocals are so beautiful.
LOVE YOU GUYS
There can only be one... Momma
Momma 🤘🏽🔥 …love em.
freaking love this band.
Excellent ❤
Love ittt
I love this band
So good.
🤘🏻🔥
This video of the excellent Momma is fine, but the notes to it are a little screwed up: under "Musicians", contrary to what the notes say Allegra Weingarten (the taller singer and guitarist) never lays a hand on a bass in this video and in fact I've never seen her play it; the other singer/guitarist, the very blonde Etta Friedman, plays bass on one song here and in some of their other videos. Two of the songs in this video feature third band member Aron Kobayashi Ritch on bass as do most of their peformances; I have no idea who "Sebastian Jones" is, credited in the video notes as their bass player.
Oh fuck yeah!!!!
denle 2 años y veran que van a explotar
Idk who the drummer is but please bring him on full time.
Medicine is such a fucking good song.
Wait, the drummer is generated! LOOK!
His head!
They still sound so garage in the best way.
Nice ya'll, lol.
This is rad. Guitar is similar to the 90s grunge band, Hum.
