Hello, I watched a demo of corrosion calculation published on this youtube channel, it was called "Calculation corrosion rates with LPR&EIS" I wanted to ask what is the difference between 3 electrode potentiostat and 4 electrodes one. I believe In that video the person was using 4 electrode potentiostat and the 4th electrode was a " sense cable/electroode"
Yes, in a 4 electrode setup there will be two sense electrodes. This eliminates the impedance of the electrodes from the spectra, and only measures the impedance between the sense electrodes. We have an app note that covers this is more detail here: www.gamry.com/application-notes/instrumentation/two-three-four-electrode-experiments/ All of our instruments can perform 2, 3, and 4 electrode experiments. If you have additional questions, please contact our technical support team at techsupport@gamry.com
The PDF of this presentation is available on our web site: www.gamry.com/assets/Uploads/Electrochemical-Corrosion-Measurements.pdf . Thank you for your interest.
hello. How can i compare the result of corrosion between Gamry device and normal humidity tester ? Is there any international standart that contains acceptance criteria ? How can I say "test is ok" after i finish the test. We have a gamry device but we dont know how we evaluate the result. For example when we have a new metal sheet like galvanised, we perform the test with gamry device but we dont know what is the acceptance criteria. Can you pls help us ?
We have the follow article which describes how to run and analyze a corrosion test using a Gamry potentiostat:www.gamry.com/application-notes/corrosion-coatings/corrosion-techniques-polarization-resistance/ There are also numerous ASTM standards for corrosion measurements. These include G5-94, G59-97, and G61-86. If you have additional questions, please contact us at techsupport@gamry.com
