Hi. Thanks & I am glad that you liked the video and have subscribed to the videos I upload. I am an amateur photographer and it is just a hobby to photograph or take small video clips. BTW, I still don't have a DSLR so this is shot from Sony HX 100 V, P & S camera. It is shot in Mumbai & not in Gujarat. :)
I realized both of us live in the almost the same country, the parakeets in my area fly around and plus they also come to my bird restaurant, NGL but I love birds a lot! (Hint: My country is surrounded by India.)

Location please? There is a similar flock that sits outside the fourth floor window at a building in modi street near CST, mumbai. btw, the fifth guy with the red chest is from konkan-malabar side I believe.
AinolUser It's Borivali, Mumbai! The bird you are referring to is the 'Red-breasted Parakeet". My field guide book for birds mentions it to be the residents of Himalayan foothills and NE India and Bangladesh. The ones found here could be feral, yet their population seems to be going up. These birds have been reportedly sighted in various parts of Mumbai.
Naveena Mohan never seen the RBs come on our trees near worli sea face area. Till 10 years back, we used to get flocks of bats and ringnecks devastating the guava trees but we hardly see them anymore. Their sounds would deafen our ears during lunch time we would keep slingshots ready to hunt them away. Really miss them now. Surprisingly I keep hearing about feral populations that hangout at thick housing complexes (?). We used to have LOT of woodpeckers too - now we don't see them anymore. But we have a new species now - fantail birds nesting around the yard.

@@naveenamohanrao sorry I was in a rush and didn’t mean to be rude but growing up in Australia all the books on aviculture in English were American or English. I probs should have said most of the English speaking world. The Rainbow lorikeets were I live are called Swainsons lorikeet in Europe and America. The galahs are called Rose Breasted Cockatoos. I guess that’s why the scientific community uses binomial names as an international standard. Fun fact, the two Psitticulids in your lovely vid make fertile hybrids. People in the west bred the colour mutations from the ring neck to the Moustaches. The F1 gens are very interesting, particularly with the dominant mutations.
the moustache parakeet and ringneck parakeet are native to the indian subcontinent so how can u consider them invasive... yes in UK and parts of europe they have flourished because of the pet trade

Oh yeah, forgot to add the "invasive species" warning as the natural balance of ecosystems get brutally overturned by human intervention.

Tons of these around the south of England. Sadly the miserable government has put a cull on them.
