I like the idea of it as well as the entire Album, which is why it’s one of my favs, but this song just doesn’t hit with me. Reminds me of Bitch Suck Dick or Trashwang, where it’s kind of a throw away. The energy behind it though is insane.
it was named cherry bomb because of the literal cherry bomb firework the explosiveness behind it spawned a lot of the outlandish sounding songs on the album given the name he was able to finally open up completely
He opened up emotionally more on flower boy creatively it started with Cherrybomb as he really allowed himself to make whatever he likes no matter how crazy
I love cherry bomb, definitely my favorite of Tyler’s creations. Especially because it was such a bold move for him to release this in the first place. He was experimenting with the direction he wanted to go with in his career and decided to just do what he wanted. Really an inspiring album.
I cannot stress enough how much I love cherry bomb, without Tyler "finding his wings" we wouldn't have albums as polished as Igor. Also pilot is in like my top 5 i love it sm
Cherry Bomb was the transition for Tyler's music. It was needed. The beginning was the old Tyler and going towards the end was showing us a shift was happening...We are going to look back and realize what a classic it really was....
Might be a bit of a far fetched idea, but I think this is one of Tyler's best albums cause it's a perfect mix of Flower Boy Tyler, and Wolf/Goblin Tyler. It has the fast and crazy type of beats and raps from Wolf/Goblin Tyler, and it hits with smooth, poppy, serene music from Flower Boy Tyler and it's beautiful. Say what you want, I think this is his most creative album, and is WAYYY too overrhated
This is top 3 Tyler no matter how much people say it is isn’t. It has so many punk and N.E.R.D influences which is cool. People say the production of shitty even though I think it’s some of the best production I’ve heard. the beats are amazing, especially as a drummer and they are very unique. I like every song on the album. Even what people consider some of the worst songs on the album like cherry bomb are still my favorite. Blow my load, pilot, and Okaga CA definitely stand out the most to me and are some of my favorite Tyler songs in general. This is either my second or third favorite Tyler album.
looking back at it Wolf Trilogy: Bastard Wolf Goblin Cherry Bomb is an explosion and the next step for his career The New Era: Flower Boy IGOR Call Me If You Get Lost “fuck traditions stop impressing the dead” which leads to his next album Chromakopia, he abandoned his two year album gap and got rid of his 10th track tradition. his most vulnerable as well.
it's like tyler wanted to try out numerous different things into one album and it became messy, as people would say. that's one of the reasons why i love it - it's unique, it's chaotic, it's tyler doing what HE wants to do for his musical career. i feel like despite it being so underrated, it's also highly favorited in my book next to goblin. "buffalo" is def my favorite song from the cherry bomb album, the aggressiveness the song expresses is favorable to me.
The literal song cherry bomb (not album the song) sounds like something Samuel from the album wolf would kinda like have his mood be in idk if it’s too confusing to explain
0:36 This!! Speaking of, this can be reflected in the SORRY, NOT SORRY music video as all of the Tylers say something except for Cherry Bomb (and Igor, but for two very different reasons).
Cherry Bomb is my favorite album from T. This is Tyler killing the horrid actions he talked about throughout the Wolf Trilogy. That explosive album is a release of that left over angst. That edge of his previous self. Tyler does not regret making the album, as seen in the “Sorry Not Sorry” music video where Cherry Bomb apologies for nothing. This was Tyler’s response to his emotions on a high note despite the brash sounds. In short, Tyler did indeed create.
5:00 “packing your bags and flying to the moon” idk if it’s just me, but packing your bags reminds me of cmiygl, so like, what if his next album has something to do with/is a metaphor for flying to the moon. idk, just a thought/connection i made.
Great video, I think you should double up on pop filters for your mic, though. A fitted pop filter on the mic itself combined with a gooseneck pop filter in front of it can help cut the overly bass-y popping you're getting in your recording.
But bastard and goblin are more like a chaotic child with family problems while in Cherrybomb Tyler is going through a confused phase trying to understand himself
I found a disc in my moms car a couple of months ago in a old cd album but it had some recent ones too and one of them really popped out to me by design, I didn’t get to listen to it but now I finally know what it was lol
This was also the album for me that got me into Tyler. I love cherry bomb so much because it really was a transition into his other music like igor or CMIYGL.
I listened to pilot on a long ass plane flight late at night, and let me just say that is was one of the most transcendent musical experiences I have ever had.
Cherry bomb is the closest thing to normal Tyler just wanting to change his style of music and grow to be a bigger artist and I actually like it being a new Tyler fan and it’s super under rated
(unnecessary internet opinion no one asked for alert) I love all of cherry bomb except "find your wings" and thats just because its so non-experimental in a way. It just sounds like jazz. And i dont even like good jazz so to hear a mostly generic saxaphone-y jazz piece in the middle of all these fresh ideas has always been off-putting to me. I wouldnt listen to it if a respected jazz composer made it, im not gonna listen to it simply because Tyler made it lol. Itd be like if he wanted to branch out and try to make a boom-bap song and just replicated a nas flow on a preemo style beat. If other people fuck with that song though, right on. Great video!
Cherry Bomb was honestly the album that got me into Tyler, The Creator. It was raw, it was unapologetic, it was different from everything I heard at the time and I wanted more of it! Been a fan ever since!
I’m honest my dad listened to this album when it came out. He hated it! But me there is a small love for cherry bomb. I love rock but it’s the huge change in different genres that gets you first your vibing on find your wings then the loud drums of CHERRY BOMB scares you.
i was so surprised to find out that cherry bomb is hated. it does take a few listen to really get into, but it has sm good songs like deathcamp and fy/p

This album from him is probably still my favourite or top 2. Every time i listen i think nope. This is his best, for me! It’s so good even after he dropped his Christmas Grinch EP or flower boy he came back and released all the instrumentals!
Cherry bomb is a creative chaos, Tyler experimenting with all these sounds came out as a explosion of music in my ears. A great explosion. A bipolar mess
I should listen to that album then . Because i would like to see an artist like Tyler incorporate all those genres in the Cherry bomb. It's reminds me of Steely Dan and other artist before him. Nice
Funny that the whole thing on Cherry Bomb (and on Tyler's themes in general) is like "Be yourself dont let people change you" and yet he made BUFFALO which was like... the *ah, people will like this shit* song
The other half is just madness and mess the other half is just angelic like finding a direction to peace thats the exact reason why i love cherry bomb and his music
Tbh I feel like a lot of people say they like this album because Tyler said it’s his favorite or to be different/edgy. AKA to try to sound like a “true fan” with a non-basic answer to the question of what your favorite T album is. The album has okay tracks but most of them are mixed absolutely terribly. If they were engineered or mastered in a way that actually complimented their composition I’d understand but if we’re being real half of the album is borderline unlistenable. Pretending to like it does not change that. Tyler grew from this album and it was definitely step to get him to take music more seriously (because of the hate) and I appreciate the album for that. But I won’t pretend it was an amazing piece of work or my fave album (and even though I’ll never know for sure, I suspect many are capping when they say they like it). SMUCKERS is a classic tho

anyone who says they can't understand anything said off the title track clearly hasn't bothered to finish the song. what yall are trying to say if you have actually listened to it is, "i don't like the section of the track with the wall of distortion and that ruined the song for me." AND LOOK, you are 110% allowed to say that if that's the opinion you hold. just don't say something that makes you look like you don't know what you're talking about when there is a whole section if the track anyone who speaks english can understand perfectly.
I listen to a lot of trap metal and loud music so I appreciate the first section, but the second is the better one and is 100% understandable in terms of lyrics
@@TechnicalDifficulties i mean yeah I'm not talking about you bro, clearly you are a fellow cherry bomb enjoyer be it the song itself and the album on the whole. Im just tired of people saying thats why they don't like it when that reasoning falls apart if you listen to the full track
My take: This is Tyler trying to see how he could make music in different genres this album has a lot of rock influenece over it. Now their is a rock song called Cherry Bomb released by The Runaways and if you look on Songfacts a trusty source for song info it says that it's a explosive toy kids had to play with. The song is a play on words is about an underage girl who is lots of trouble. Now I believe Tyler played off of this naming the album this since their are multiple songs talking about a relationship with a minor not just in Fucking Young. He talks about it throughout the album and how people put him down and talk about him behind his back and wanna see him fail but he continues to push no matter even through this taboo relationship. This is just the start of something but the album doesnt have a fully fleshed out story. It's just him trying something different and telling kind of a small story about his struggles to prevail in life and with this girl even with the people around him trying to drag him down. So it's not as cinematic as most of his albums but it's got a little bit of a story to it still. Im sure there's more to it if anyone wants to add.

True dat
it’s literally his greatest hits
cherry bomb literally made his music swerve into what it sounds like today
Exactly
Yep there’s traces of the sound he created here on every album afterwards
Cherry bomb is literally so ahead of its time, and it never got the credit it deserved
I see you comment in almost every tyler the creator-relator video, mostly in his older tracks
That doesn't mean in any way cherry bomb is a good album
I love how messy the sound is in this album it’s my favorite album of his I love how loud it is
