It's 2020. T-Shirts are practically a daily uniform at this point. If we're going to be in t-shirts all day long, I wanted to find out what the best t-shirt would be in terms of quality, softness, and fit.
I researched blogs, Reddit posts, UA-cam videos and to learn everything I could about what makes a t-shirt great. I spent $600 on 7 different brands that kept coming up on my search. I put them all through their paces and made sure I tested them as thoroughly as I could to find the best t-shirt for men right now.
First we have the Uniqlo Supima Cotton Crewneck T-Shirt. I've read high praises and glowing reviews for this so I was excited to give the Uniqlo a shot. It is made in Vietnam, with 100% Supima cotton. The fit is in between a slim fit and a regular fit. It hugs the arms well, and leaves room in the stomach but shrinks a bit after a wash. People have said the quality on the Uniqlo Supima used to be very good but has gone down in recent months when the production factory shifted. For $15 it's still a solid t-shirt from Uniqlo for anyone on a budget but better ones are available.
The Cuts Clothing Split Hem Crewneck T-Shirt is super soft and bouncy out of the box. Cuts Clothing t-shirts are made from their own fabric called Pyca. The fabric is stretchy, wrinkle resistant and feels 'performance' oriented in a synthetic way. The fabric is thin and breathable but not in a cheap way. For $48 it's pricey butI'm impressed by the buttery fabric, the stretch, and how low maintenance it is but probably wouldn't buy another pair due to the length on me and the price.
Everlane Premium Weight Crew is marked as a slim fit but is the boxiest out of all the t-shirts today. At 6.2 ounces, the weight of this t-shirt is great but it was the most basic of the batch. Reminded me of a fresh Gildan t-shirt but with more weight. It costs $30, I would say this isn't worth it and was slightly disappointed.
I was introduced to Robert Barakett about a year ago and they've been my go to since. The Canadian company calls it the Barakett T but it's also known as the Robert Barakett Georgia Crew in some retailers. It's made from 100% ultra-fine US grown cotton and is finished with a heavy enzyme wash. The split hem is a nice feature that prevents any pulling for more athletic legged people. Robert Barakett tees are $60 but don't pay that much for this t-shirt. They can be found around $20-$40 on sale all the time.
3Sixteen specializes in raw denim so I was a little hesitant adding them to this list. However, there seems to be a cult like following for their t-shirts and I had to see what it was all about. The t-shirt is 100% American grown pima cotton. The fabrics is roughly 160gsm so it feels substantial in a good way. The shirts are made in the USA so they come at a premium. They're only available in packs of two which is weird but many higher end t-shirts seems to go this route. Colors are limited to black and white in the Pima shirts as of me making this video. They're really high quality so the price is justified but they aren't my favorite solely due to the fit
Lady White Company was started on this one t-shirt. I was super excited to get this in because I was intrigued by the lack of side seams. This model is called the "Our T-Shirt". It's made of 100% cotton from North Carolina. It is cut, sewn, and knitted in Los Angeles. The construction on this tee is flawless. The fit is relaxed and boxy so I'm glad I got a small to get the fit I like. I was disappointed when I took it out because the fabric was very rough. The fabric didn't have that soft brushed like finish that I look for personally. It's supposed to break in and get softer the more it's worn so I'll have to see what it's like a year from now.
Lastly we have Asket. Asket is a Swedish company with a pursuit to create the best basics. The fabric was soft to the touch, but second to Cuts Clothing. It offers enough structure for it to feel well made but flows enough to drapes over the body really well. There were no stray threads on either of the t-shirts and everything was put together flawlessly. Overall I was very impressed and it definitely lived up to my expectation

Finally someone who took the time and effort to make a great T Shirts video that they actually wore and tested with time and weren't sponsored by. GREAT JOB! Wish i found this vid sooner.
Appreciate it a ton man! Lot more of this series on the channel and a new episode dropping on leather sneakers soon!
And didn’t seem persuaded by sponsored to say something is great!
Wow! This was an awesome video. So much work went in to this. Congrats. You struck gold with this video series. I'll definitely be back to watch more videos in the same vein. I'd love to see some comparisons of jeans, sweaters, socks, and almost any simple clothing piece.
This means so much to me. Thank you for taking the time to comment. More to come for sure!
Awesome work here. Would love to see a similar round up on denim, specifically with athletic fits.
Gotcha! Thanks! I’ve been rocking Days of September by can review a few more to put against them.
i thought you had 100k+ subs very underrated fashion channel your gonna blow up one day man
Man, that means the world! Glad you enjoyed it. More dropping Monday 👍🏽
Never thought I would actually look for a review video for t-shirts but I'm so glad I found this video and this creator! Great breakdown!
I appreciate it Thomas! More coming this week!
Great vid, very informative and thorough. Would love to see evaluation for different body types as well!
Great idea! Might get some friends together post Covid so we can compare fits on various body types.
Awesome in-depth review. I am awaiting a pair of Cut Tees to arrive and have been curious about other quality tees out there. Thanks for your detailed experience reviews!
Glad it brought you value! Drop a sub if you want more. Have a few like this coming soon!
This was an awesome video, my only recommendation if you were to do a similar thing again would be to have a budget comparison for a base line. I think it would help to illustrate why the good parts of these shirt are good and why its would be worth spending the extra money on them. Also maybe comparison pictures of the fits might help to be able to distinguish between them because towards then end they all started to blend together.
This is great criticism and it’s definitely something I’ll take into account for the next one I do. Thanks for the input!
honestly Id like to see you do a video for more formal wear like men's suits. Im so glad I found this channel, good luck with the growth!
Could definitely make this happen. Have a solid suit collection ranging in prices so it’d be a very good diverse lineup!
I subscribed after seeing your post on reddit. Well done!
I hope your youtube takes off. I love to see people succeed.
This means a lot. Thank you so much!
I'd love to see a review on sweaters next! Simple, casual sweaters that you can wear on their own or layer with a jacket. You could even go so far as to review different materials (cashmere, crew-neck, etc.). Came here after finding your post on Reddit! Looking forward to your upcoming vids
Apprecaite your suggestions! I’ll get to work. Thanks for the support!
Any cashmere t-shirts that you recommend?
You but great quality in your videos man which is great. I definitely hope you blow up more. The amount of dedication and research you did is remarkable. Keep up the great work🔥👍🏾.
Just discovered this channel; really love these detailed reviews. Keep up the good work!
Means a ton David!
Great video on T--shirts! I never paid that much attention to something I wear daily!
Glad you liked it! Neither did I really until a few months ago when all this started. Figured I’d document the process lol
Amazing video, your efforts are appreciated.
Truly appreciate it. Subscribe to stick around!
Love the video dude! Shows you really put a lot of work and effort into it! Maybe consider casual polos next? Slightly more formal - date/outing situations
Appreciate the compliments! That sounds like a good idea. Thanks for watching man!
Loved the thoroughness and think a similar video for flannels would be great!
Noted, thanks!
Love the effort and detail. Keep it up man
Thank you very much!
Great video man! Wonderful production and excellent information. I’d love to see a casual belt comparison video.
Appreciate the compliment!
Excellent video. You put a lot of thought into it. Thanks.
Appreciate the kind words Brad! Subscribe for more to come 🙏🏽
great vid! two ideas for ya
- black jeans (since other washes might have a good bit of variation)
- classic grey sweatshirt
Love the suggestions! Both are classics you can’t go wrong with
Good video bro, very comprehensive! You should do a video on the best ankle/no show socks next
Appreciate the feedback!
Great Video and very informative. I would like to see an accessories video and how they can elevate simplistic outfits
Thanks for the compliment!
Great video and research. It is difficult to find the perfect tee. I'm working on one myself, let you know how it goes.
Keep the videos coming.
Appreciate that Sophia!
Great video mate! Just subscribed! And bought the cuts and Asket shirts you reviewed. It’s dangerous now I’m checking out your other videos to see what I need lol
Appreciate it man! Apologies in advance to your bank account 😂
Awesome video man, love how thorough it is! I'd love to see a video on the best chinos and dress pants right now, cause they can be pricey and can be hit and miss when it comes to comfort.
Love the idea!
Quality content! Keep it up.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a positive comment!
Can vouch for the Asket tees. Have two of them in white and they've held up really nicely over the last two years considering they get constant wear. Stayed soft and kept their shape
Agreed! Mine still look nearly new
Great video...some video ideas are: zip up hoodies (preferably heavyweight), dad and/or minimalist hats, flannel shirts, retro runner sneakers, henleys.
I like that! Thanks for the comment
Awesome review! Thanks for putting this together. I'd love to see more brands
Great to hear! Hopefully a part two coming soon! Any suggestions?
@@asim I'm humbled that you commented!
I noticed that asket has two different kinds of tees. One normal and the other light. It'd be interesting to see how the two compare. Needless to say, after watching your video I got myself a few to try out; I wish I had some kind of affiliate link to pay it back to you for making the video.
Other brands that'd be interesting would be bonobos, true classic tees, nordstrom men's shop, Eddie Bauer, gap brands, and all saints.
Having conversations in the comments is my favorite part of posting a video.
I bought the light as well but preferred the normal so ended up keeping and highlighting that. There are some affiliate links in the description so feel free to check them out. Appreciate the support a ton!
I’ll have to look into some of these suggestions for part 2!
nice vid, would love to see this level of analysis on casual/work polos
This would be fun especially for when it gets closer to going back to the office
great vid, subbed! The Robert Baraket looked the best on you imo
Thank you so much! It’s a really solid tee!
Thanks for the roundup. I was considering getting some Asket T's for the construction and length, but I was concerned about the sleeves looking so loose on the models on their site. Your review let me see that the sleeves aren't too big, so Asket is my top choice.
I got some lightweight cotton and hemp blend T's from Taylor Stitch for hot weather, and I'm happy with them so far. Would've preferred a shorter length than 26.5 inches, but they seem to be pretty well-constructed for lightweight T's. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Hey Loki! Glad you liked the video. I had similar concerns about the Asket tee so I’m glad it worked out.
I’ll have to check out the Taylor Stitch soon. I ran across a bamboo blend tee and it’s been insane as well. More casual than the Asket tees in my opinion but still a super great choice. Have never felt hemp however so I’d love to get my hands on that.
Had to come back and say that I received my Robert Barakett shirts today and I love them. I appreciate the review.
Enjoy them!
Hey great post on FMF! I'd really like to see one comparing different brands of chinos.
Glad you liked the write up! They take time but they’re worth it
solid to the point review! thank you!!
Means a ton Nic! Hope you stick around for more 🙏🏽
Great video, subscribed! I like your emphasis on quality and I am curious about the content you will be posting. Keep it up :)
Appreciate it Emiel! More of these videos dropping soon 👍🏽
Just subscribed! Awesome will be trying Asket.
I think a hoodies video would be a good one. Just your average plain hoodie
Thanks for subscribing!
Would love to do one on hoodies.
One of the best channels related with style GReat great job sir! Keep going
Thank you very much!
Hey man, loving these video reviews! I've been pouring over the jogger review you did and ended up getting two pairs because of it (the Lulu ABC's and the Outdoor Voices).
My video idea suggestion: denim jeans. This one can get expensive I feel like, but you seem to like doing deep dives and there is a LOT that can be researched on these.
And just another idea because why not: hoodie sweatshirts. I've been wanting to get some new hoodies and found there's a lot of differences in quality.
Thanks again for these in-depth reviews! Keep it up!
I’m super glad the joggers video helped! Enjoy the pairs.
Hoodies would be a fun one! I’m needing those bad right now so was researching a little while ago.
Thanks for your comment!
Hey Robert! Congrats on winning the giveaway. Please shoot me a DM on Instagram @September.Fashion and I’ll get that Asket tee sorted for you. Thanks for the support!
@@asim 🍁
Really helpful info. I also appreciate your professionalism in effectively modeling the different shirts without being all “yo, check out my guns“
I appreciate this man. Thank you so much! Goal is to provide quality content without that “in your face” vibe!
Would love a video like this about dress shirts on the more casual side, that you wear with chinos/slacks.
Yeah this could be a good one!
Amazing video. Would love to see one about best long sleeve t-shirts. 🍁
Apprecaite you reading the description. I’m always curious to see who gets that far down
great vid, I'd love to see future vids comparing denim brands
Days of September 👀
Nicely done! I would love to see a comparison of casual button up shirts.
Good idea!
Great stuff, I got the Asket and the Robert Barakett, and I think both are great, although i’m liking the barakett more.
Stoked to hear that! Something about that silky smooth and cool fabric that you can’t quite beat on the Barakett.
I've been looking for a review of the Asket shirt - like yourself I've been curious about it but just never got around to picking one up. I'd love to see a full review of some other Asket staples as an unboxing and try on in the moment. I usually like those kinds of videos from the other mens fashion channels I watch. Subscribed, good stuff!
Love to hear that man! Thanks for subscribing. Any particular pieces you want to see from them? I have quite a few on the list but am more than open to testing out some you may have your eyes on.
@@asim I get most of my pants from a brand called Spoke London so I'm not as interested there, I'm curious how the lightweight is different than the standard and the different sweaters/jackets. Watched your other videos and dropped a sub, good stuff all around!
I had actually picked up the lightweight Asket tee as well for this review but decided not to include it as I picked the best from each brand.
The lightweight was roughly the same weight as the Uniqlo one but with all the pros of the original Asket tee that I mentioned in the vid. Hope that helps!
Haven’t been able to test out their jackets or sweatshirts so I can definitely take a look at them for the next “I spent $xxx” video.
@@asim Sounds good man, looking forward to it!
Nice video, would love to see reviews of sneakers/boots!
I reviewed the YSL boots and Common Projects in previous videos. Shoes are an addiction so I always have more I can review lol
Great job on the video, subscribed!
Means the world! Thank you!
Appreciate this, great content.
Stoked you enjoyed it! More content coming Monday 👍🏽
Great vid! You should include your measurements! Love to see sweater for the winter season :)
That’s a good idea!
@@asim so did you include them? Your height and weight?
I replaced all my old T-shirts with 10 Asket T's 4-5 years ago (back when Asket pretty much only sold T-shirts). I have literally been wearing them every day since. They must have gone through hundreds of washes at this point but they still are stretchy and feel great. The black color have slightly faded now, but even that is nowhere near as much as most other shirts fade. Honestly, by far the best T-shirts I have ever worn.
That’s definitely reassuring!
how do you get rid of yellow armpits stains from aluminum antiperspirants ?
@@igorborovkov7011 I only wear black, so I haven't noticed that as a problem.
@@igorborovkov7011 I stopped using deos that have aluminum. Its too strong.. It works.. But ruins all my clothes. I use Old Spice deos.
@@igorborovkov7011 late AF, but try a visit to a dry cleaner. They made my white shirts collar and armpits look like new, only had to buy 2 bucks extra for the whitening treatment!
Great video, as a Portuguese i never heard of asket, I'm surely start buying their products, I'm glad they produce their products in Portugal.
Solid solid company
Great vid. Great info. Thank you!
Thanks for watching Thomas!
Great video! I would love a video comparing different sweaters.
Working on that closer to fall/winter!
Honestly thank you Asim !
🙌🏽
We dont have the same opinion on t shirts. But i like the video and work/effort you put into it. Looking forward to seein more films like this
Completely get that! It’s why I try to outline what I look for early and i know others preferences differ. Appreciate you sticking around and for the positive comment, hope you find some value!
You could do a video about various jackets! Jean, bomber, peacoats, etc.
Good idea!
Favorite T I’ve ever gotten is the Core Tee from OriginUSA. I wear my stuff tucked in, the length is perfect and the feel is incredible(to me)
Awesome video! Thanks for putting this together. My question for you is, what length did you go with for the Asket t shirt?
Thanks! Went with the regular!
I found you on reddit, awesome video! For a video idea, maybe some more niche needs, like for myself, I need to find the best tee for long-waisted people! In addition, the best canvas shoes for wide feet!
Appreciate you commenting!
Great video!
I would like to see "Best grooming tips for men"
Thanks for the suggestion Venkata!
Make a video on top essential pieces for any wardrobe!
I love this idea! Thanks
Great vid!
Thanks!
Great videos! Excited for more from you.
Quick question, you mentioned you got a Small from Asket, did you get it in Medium or Long length?
The medium!
I'm heavy into shirt prints and heat transfers. It be cool if you did a video on the best company for custom shirt production; cheapest mass order option but high quality.
Haven’t thought of this but I may need to! Any recommendations?
This video is very handy, thanks mate
Thanks for watching
This is such a well made video
Appreciate that a ton! Similar video coming on polo and hoodies soon so subscribe for them!
Hi, that’s a great video. This makes me want to asket T-shirt more, however I am wondering if you have tried tumble dry the asket tee? Since I don’t have the patience for line drying
Hey, I have! Minimal shrinkage so shouldn’t be an issue
You should do a video on cold weather essentials, like socks, gloves, hats or sweatshirts.
I’d love to but living in TX not sure how helpful I could be woth no experience haha
I’m taller (6’1”) but I have the same proportions. This is WAY more helpful than websites with models that are my height but 150lbs. Thanks. I’ll be looking into Asket.
Haha definitely helps seeing it on a normal body rather than models. Thanks for watching. Hope you stick around for the rest coming soon.
Would love to see a video about flannels due to it being flannel season!
Agreed! I’ll start researching
Liked and subbed. Extremely good video!
Glad you liked it! Thanks
Awesome review, hope to see more from you, found you on Reddit! Do you have initial recommendations for jeans?
I’ve been rocking Days of September denim daily for the past year now. It’s selvedge so you get that high quality but it’s also soft enough for daily wear and doesn’t require breaking in.
This vid was really helpful man thank you, I'm gonna try out Asket. H&M slim tees have been my go-to for a decade, but they've been sold out of white for months.
Have you ever tried Buck Mason's t shirt?
I havent but I've heard good things. If this ever gets a part two then I'll be sure to include it!
thanks man for review
No problem Scott!
I’m exactly one minute in - the intro - and pausing to leave a comment as your, “deep dive,” tendencies really…shockingly, resonate with me. Got a like and a sub, brother.
The comment means a ton, looking back on this video compared to the recent ones is night and day difference but I’m stoked you still found value in it. Thanks for taking the time!
@@asim Good content is good content regardless of production value but I did enjoy your engagement montage - congratulations! Hey, not to trigger you….but have you considered looking into side-tab trousers and chinos? I’d love to see an Asim-style deep dive before I invest.
My favorite tee is from a brand called Gettees since they cost around 24 dollars and are heavy weight. My only complaint is the discoloration in the armpit areas on one of my shirts from the 4.
Thanks for sharing. I’ll take a look!
Very polished video. Would like to see this with 3 different body types.
Appreciate it!
Easy subscribe, cant wait for more content fam!
Appreciate it a ton!
Just submitted a survey to Asket and told them your video and Reddit thread convinced me to make the purchase
Haha appreciate that man! Asket needs to sponsor at this point lol
Saw your previous write-ups on Reddit and glad you put together this great video! Would love to see a breakdown on the best Oxford Cloth Button Downs (OCBDs).
Great idea! I’ll start researching. Happy thanksgiving!
Great video. Thank you. Subscribed. Not sure why this channel hasn't taken off yet!
Also, if you don't mind would you mind sharing your chest size so I can figure out if I should get a medium or small? It's easier when there are local stores(to try them on), but Asket and others are online so I'm a lil iffy about about their sizing
Appreciate it! Hopefully soon. My chest size is a 38/40 depending on the brand. Their customer service is very helpful but I measured mine against some tees I already owned. In the future I’d go for a medium however
@@asim thank you
Great vid. With winter approaching, I think a video on affordable but quality wool sweaters would be pretty relevant. Been trying to find some, but with the price point on most I can't justify pulling the trigger without first trying them on to feel the texture and to see the fit. Which I can't do, because, ya know... COVID.
Yeah I feel that! I’ve been delaying bigger purchases until after things open up and are safe to visit. Apprecaite your comment!
A video idea could be, setting up a whole, late night date outfit (including a watch), with your top items, clearly for each season.
That’s on my list! Thanks for your suggestion
I love my Robert Barakett shirts, I have a few... I've bought each of them on sale ranging between $25-$35
🤘🏽🤘🏽
Great work! Can you do Chelsea Boots next?
Did a video on the YSL boots recently! Check that out. I’ll look into some more Chelsea boots but I swear by Saint Laurent!
I don't know, I've ordered Cuts a few times now and their t shirts start to pile after a few wears. The look and fit are hard to delicate but I don't feel it's worth $30. I buy lux touch and other t shirts from banana at 50% off and they have held up very well for the past few years. I am interested in trying out some of the brands you mentioned though as I have yet to try premium brands.
Yeah it seems as if it’s hit or miss with Cuts. Need to check out those Banana ones you mentioned. Lmk if you decide to pick any of the ones up from the video. Interested to hear your thoughts!
Would be helpful if you also reviewed the collar/neck fit. I don’t like wide collar T-shirt’s and based on your reviews, I can’t decide on which shirt.
Completely missed this! The collars felt neutral throughout all the brands. Cuts had a slightly larger “droop” compared to the rest.
Should do the same thing, multiple brands with the same detail put into it as this video but with other garments;Sweater,Socks,Wool Pants
I’ll look into them! Thanks Dylan
If you can do this for Khaki/Navy pants/shorts that would be great - feel those are utility items of clothing and could help out a lot of folks
Awesome! Thanks GJ!
Do a best long sleeve list 🔥👌🏽 video
Coming up soon!
I would like a video on OCBDs. Other than a tshirt, that's the only other kind of top I wear.
That’d be solid! Especially for the office workers whenever WFH ends
Would be very interested in higher end boxer briefs and every day (non-denim) pants, like chinos or other types
Chinos would be a good video
How tall/heavy are you? COuld help in figuring out sizing. Thanks!
Hey! I’m roughly 170, 5’10”. I thought I had it in the description but I’ll double check and get it added!
haha the intro, that's literally what I'm doing now
Bro. You’re my hero
Appreciate it!
TL;DR short torso boi finds next basic tee from Asket.
I bit the bullet and ordered 2 Asket t-shirts in a Medium-Short (White & Charcoal). The Charcoal fit perfectly but found the White to be an inch shorter than advertised on their website and made the fit more "bell-bottom" towards the waist. The White itself was great with its vibrancy and its weight made the shirt not see-through, an issue I have with most white tees. I chose the option to exchange for the same t-shirt but in off-white for that nice broken-in color.
I tried Cuts before and the shorter option from Asket was exactly what I needed. Although the Cuts tees were softer, they feel very "technical" which is what I did not want from a basic cotton t-shirt. The length made it feel awkward and I didn't like the finishes of the curve-hem and split-hem with how it bunches at my stomach.
Overall I can see myself purchasing more t-shirts from Asket especially if the exchange/return program works well. The green and burgundy really pop in this video and I'm looking at those for my next pickups.
Thanks for the reviews tees! Always good hearing more thoughts.
Torso always looks short when my neck and head are chopped out of each frame 😂
I know you did joggers but the best “grey sweat pants” would be amazing and perfect for the season
Would be a good one! Adding it to the list!
