- Lakers have been linked to Utah Jazz Lauri Markkanen but NBA News has Markkanen staying with the Jazz or traded to the Golden State Warriors. We do not have the pieces do to that, even if we include Reaves, there’s at least 6-8 teams that can outbid us easily…this LM nonsense is what they call a “pipe dream” fun to talk about but not based in reality…kinda like winning the lottery
If you acquire Markennen, you’re not going to go after Jerami Grant. Lebron will be your small forward if you sign Lauri. The starting 5 should be: AD and Lauri as your two bigs, Lebron as your small or point forward, Dalton would be your 2 and DLo your point guard.
Jaxson Hayes, CWood, Rui or Vando and Vincent (assuming AR and Cam Reddish were included in the trade) would be your rotation players. We might have to make a trade for a backup 2.
Porzingas is injury prone too but look what he did for the green mucous in Boston. Zach Lavine doesn’t make us a contender whereas Lauri Markennen might.
Markkanen is going on 28 years old. Of course Ainge wants to trade him. He doesn’t fit a rebuild. And the reason Ainge isn’t getting ridiculous offers for Markkanen is because Markkanen himself is declining to commit long term to interested teams - which is exactly what he should do - to control where he lands. There are no teams that are going to give up 3, 4, 5 first round picks for a player without a long term commitment - and Markkanen doesn’t want to go to a team that has to give away that many assets to get him anyway.
Also - Utah will not be asking for Reaves. Reaves is also 27 years old and too old for a rebuild.
Austin Reaves, JHS and 2 unprotected picks seems like a no brainer for both sides
The Lakers ownership already said they're not trading reeves so there is no possibility of trading for a star

I make that deal if i'm The Lakers.
It's not because i believe Markkanen is a great player but he's a player that fits what the new head coach wants to do and he's a player that can be flipped to contending teams if he doesn't help the Bron/AD duo win a title this season or next.
Even with giving him a huge extension, it will still be an easily movable contract later because the cap continues to rise....
I'm thinking D Lo is probably going to a third team in a trade.
The third team that makes the most sense is Brooklyn because they are the team that really likes D Lo.
They don't have to worry about the point guard position for 2-3 seasons with D Lo in house.
D Lo and Lauri's money is roughly the same this season, so all that's needed is a third team that has some draft assets they are willing to give us for D Lo.....those assets move to Utah, along with the ones we give them.
Utah gets a bunch of draft assets and maybe an expiring contract.
Brooklyn gets a starting pg.
The Lakers get Lauri Markkanen and immediately gives him an extension.
Lakers starting five is: C-AD...PF-Markkanen....SF.....Rui....SG.....Reaves..PG...Bron
Good luck guarding Bron and AD with that much shooting around them.
Christian Wood can get increased minutes as the 6th man....

trade 1: reaves, knect and jhs plus 2029 unprotected first 2031 unprotected 1st and all available pick swap all unprotected
trade 2: knect, hachimura and jhs 2029 unprotected 1st and 2031 unprotected 1st and all pick swap unprotected
for me the trade will be to much also bkn will not accept dlo especially they will give up asset the most realistic team for dlo will be orlando magic i think they probably willing to give up anthony and jett howard and 2025 1st rd pick via denver.

The Jazz don't want more players right now. They are flush with very interesting prospects that need playing time.
If they move off Markkanen it's to add draft capital and take on expiring contracts.
The Lakers only need draft assets to acquire Markkanen but they don't have enough in house, hence the third trading partner.
The issue for The Jazz is "do they want to pay Lauri like a #1 option"?
I think the answer is no.
Now the reason they might choose to keep and extend Lauri is because they know that new contract can still be moved at a later date.
@@sammyslam1 if markanen next season i dont know because free agency next season is loaded contending team probably not gonna trade if the dude making 40 mil its hard. thats why if jazz want a higher return they need to trade him right now. thats why jazz dont want the deal of kuminga cause the dude will be restricted free agent. thats why if rockets really want lauri they have the best package especially player return they have cam whitmore and jabari smith and reed sheppard. it depends. if lakers trade thier two 1st i rather spend it to lauri or trae young rather than jeremy grant
