Nice History of modern Ducatis.
I remember these. I built a TT2 replica based off a Pantah 650SL engine (think Tony Rutter wining bike in 1984) , verlicchi frame, Mallossi carbs, campagnolo wheels, 40mm forks, F1 fairing. Best bike I have, ever owned and so sad to have sold it.
The pantah was also the first with the trellisframe.
Selling my Ducati 748 tomorrow 😪 I swore up and down when I got her that I would never sell. My first baby. But after just selling my 2008 R6 and getting a 2013 R6, I realized I have no business financially not making a buck off my Ducati. I still live with my parents for free, so it would be selfish for me to have 2 bikes. But I'm gonna miss that little bike 😭
Nice overview. I'd add the 748 to that 916 section though. The 748 is a great bike rated at 98hp at 11k rpm. I've had mine over 20 years and still ride it all the time. Some people say it's the best superbike they ever made.
Just like many other Ducati lovers, I wanted to throw up when I saw the 999 for the first time. . . but it turned out to be the most POTENT ducati ever.why?? have you noticed it was THE ONLY ducati to win over the inline fours ( with the same displacement)!!!!.???
In my book the 999 is the best sportsbike mankind has ever seen.
Thanks for the lovely video.great work.
Hasn’t the 999 looked better as the years have gone by. Must have been ahead of its time. I know I wasn’t a big fan of it.
Sorry, front end will always be ugly... looks more like a shunting loco than a bike... can't fault it otherwise
Having owned the 999 and a 1198s. I miss the triple 9 everyday and would take one over a 1198 any day.
The 916/996 are the best looking motorcycles ever produced. Yes the 999 is growing on people and it’s a great bike. It’s no 916 and never will be.
Great story, thanks for sharing. Now, where to find a 916 or the smaller version........ but what about the V4 Paniagale. 150000 rpm. ????? over square, and did you see those pistons? so shallow, so shallow.
Superb
super job done, thanks
Excellent work!!!
love the Ducati
Panigale and 1098R My Favorites.
The 1980 900 Super Sport should have graced this video IMO. Great video however.
The Supersport was its own line and wasn’t in the “Superbike” line (homologation machines for their racing bikes) per se. Though Mike Haywood won the 1978 Isle of Man TT in his 900SS and the Mike Haywood Replica is one of my dream bikes.
Ducati had aV4 back in the 70s if I remember correctly?
No, The one in the Panigale V4 (Desmosedici Stradale V4) is first mass produced engine from Ducati.
I have been given a 916, naked. no fairings. Ride as is, or.................. suggestions

Why Ducati sounds like a tractor.
That's probably due to the dry clutch, but hardcore Ducati fans adore that sound.
it sounds very different in real life, theres a very deep rumbly noise that really travels that you dont get to hear at all in videos.
Video cannot capture the deep thumping bassy sound of L-twin motor.. Totally sound different in real life
The Pantah was newer a "Flagship" Ducati. You forgot the SS750 and SS900 from the 70ties. I own a 748 since 2001 and i still love it. It is even today a fast bike.
