This makes perfect sense - using the energy of larger opponents against them. Just hope that I would be quick enough on my feet when the need arises. Wouldn't want to be rammed by a rhino.
@@tavtav3526 Yes, I agree. I didn't know Hein videos, I'll watch it. Thanks. I really like Bruno Orozco's view on Aikido and its place in martial arts and self defense. Well, Nick Drossos usually also apply a lot of Aikido principles in his style and demonstrations (plus several other martial arts of course).
Love the simplicity of the move. When I was young we learned what the instructor called the "bum rush defense". It would not work in a cornered situation like this. In my unprofessional terms as the attacker closes you drop straight down as if doing a backwards roll and use your hands and feet/knees to keep the attackers momentum going past and over you. I have never used it except as a great skill to avoid injuries from a fall when your feet slip out from under you. Our teacher (Bob Duggan if I remember right), had studied Akido, among other things.
But Nick what about the neck crank because a tackle is almost like somebody coming in for a takedown right to take you down and ground and pound so there's not much difference what happened to the neck crank

*Excellent! Thank you!*
This is the essence of Aikido
Do you watch Christopher Hein about rediscovering aikido? Aikido for me is the most misunderstood martial art even from its own community.
