    Thank you for this tutorial. I was able to sort out the problem with I have with one of the families which are modelling. Another observation that is very important is if the parameter which you use as a reference is a instance parameter, all the others that will be related to it must be instance too. I didn't know it and took awhile to find out. I know it sounds a very basic rules for modelling families but it can be a problem for beginners.

      Thanks Tito, great work!
      Yes instance parameters can be driven by type or instance, but type cannot be driven by instance. It took me a while to learn that too so a great point!

    Hi!
    Thank you for the knowledge you have shared. I have applied this knowledge to the structural family of a high-rise building that I am drawing.
    With the size of the column changing with each floor, I created an instance paramter "Floor" for Family to retrieve similar data in rows with the same "Floor" value in the Lookup Table.
    I still have to manually assign a value to each floor for the "Floor" parameter.
    I wonder if there is a way to use the "Base level" system parameter of the instance object?

      Unfortunately short of using a tool to push this value to a number in the family such as dynamo I dont believe level is a referenceable parameter from the family editor.

    hi thank you for this tutorial, I wonder can we use this lookup table to auto populate the values of the project/shared parameters we created? We have this project that we need to do a lot of data entry for Facility Management purposes. Can we use this lookup table to simply input the values without all the formulae?

    • @AussieBIMGuru
      @AussieBIMGuru  Рік тому

      Unfortunately I believe lookup tables are limited to numbers. For that sort of data entry consider key schedules.

      @@AussieBIMGuru this is what we are using now, i was hoping this lookup table allows excel import as we need to do data entry on both excel and Revit. Thank you for responding so quickly!

    Hello!
    I was looking for the usage of look up table not for pipes or conduits and I am so happy to find your video!
    Is it possible to have your sample model?
    I will understand more easily if I can try the process on my computer.

    Can you drive from a family instance parameter the family type used in the instance by the use of the lookuptable? I mean you write for example integer value 1 and automatically the family type is changed, I believe it is impossible because the family type is a set of parameters

    • @AussieBIMGuru
      @AussieBIMGuru  Рік тому +1

      Yes family types are not connectable to any parameters as far as I know. Revit linitation and probably alaways will be.

    Hey, is it possible to make LookupTableName parameter as a dropdown list?

    • @AussieBIMGuru
      @AussieBIMGuru  11 місяців тому

      Unfortunately not in families, text parameters can only be adjusted at an instance level in projects in dropdown fashion. I believe in that case it will likely miss the lookup table but you could always try it and see if it finds it I guess.

    Hi boss, i’m trying to build lookup table using (YES/NO) function such as”if i want to check x parameter, then i want y parameter to be Unchecked and so on” could you demonstrate us how can u create it?
    Thanks

    • @AussieBIMGuru
      @AussieBIMGuru  3 роки тому

      I would in this case drive lookup values that are either 0 or 1, as the true/false data type isn't supported in a lookup table. From here you can get parameters to check if the looked up value is equal to 1 or 0, and drive values that way once they're in Revit.

    Hello Aussie, This topic is really difficult to catch for me, please think about more tutorials about, I have also problem to watch this video in better quality than 360p, other tutorials goes with HD quality but this and tutorial about arrays not (can you check if it possible to fix) thank you

    • @AussieBIMGuru
      @AussieBIMGuru  5 років тому +1

      Yes Lookup tables are quite advanced - I will do a future one on latch side clearance zones for disabled access in door families.
      The quality I am unsure if maybe it is your device settings or profile settings - I can see up to 1080pHD on my settings currently (cog button next to CC). Thanks for letting me know however - I think it depends on your browser also. Mozilla firefox for example seems to have issues above 360P quality, see this thread;
      forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2775347
      Hope that helps...! It is odd that some videos show 1080pHD and others don't however.

      Hi, It took me awhile to catch, but once you catch it becomes easy. I do recommend you to break down how the formalua works I mean the sequences of it. I had to wrote it down in a paper to make easy to understand. This formula works kind of backwards. So the first information you have to provice between () which is your reference parameter then you move on to the first bit of the formula between (), which is related to what you want to looking for and then the last part is the value you choose the value if it doesn't find it. I hope you understand what I meant.

      @@titomoura7014 I wish UA-cam gave me notifications for replies to replies, I only find them when I revisit my videos unfortunately. Glad you cracked it Tito, you're right - it's a formula that requires a bit of unwinding.

      x0.5 or x0.75 speed help, only so many hours I get to prep and plan my content around my actual job so I try not to drag my videos out more than I feel is necessary.

    • @Rookio

      Disagree - If you need more time you can pause or slow it down as Gavin mentioned. The alternative is sitting through painfully slow explanations like in most videos, or the content creator takes so long to get to the point that you need to skip ahead and then risk missing a crucial point. I love the quick pace that these videos have.
