I love my custom molds! I couldn't handle the itchiness of the rubber domes, I also couldn't ever get the clarity that I now have with custom molds. It was totally worth the extra cost for my BTE bilateral hearing aides.
I myself wear custom mold, hearing aids I have a Bilateral hearing loss. And what I noticed with the custom moulds is the sound of I believe it’s called inclusion and sometimes people say I’m talking louder than I can actually hear myself. But I find the custom mold, hearing aids a lot better than the dome hearing aid option. 4:31
Yes, sometime custom molds “plug up” natural sound. However, I don’t notice it much because of my moderate to severe loss and I really like the fit better than domes. I think domes are so itchy.
I'm going in for a fitting tomorrow at Costco. My hearing test shows that I have a severe drop in the higher frequencies, but just a mild drop in the lower. I'm interested in seeing if a custom mold would be beneficial to me, but I can tell that the fitter doesn't seem keen on the idea. (Not sure if it's because she doesn't think it would be helpful, or if it would just be more work for her). Just wanted to ask you what kind of mold you show in this video - is it a canal lock? Thanks for the great information you provide!

New to wearing hearing aids. Recently diagnosed with moderate bilateral RSHL. I have the dome ear pieces and they aren’t too bad. I’m not too entirely sure about trying that custom ear molds as I would probably need to remove a bunch of ear piercings, which I don’t want to have to do. Is it possible to have a smaller mold made, like one that just fits the ear canal?
I am a new HA wearer. Two months in with Spheres. I started with domes. They were not comfortable. Sometimes painful and I had issues with them backing out. I now have been wearing Slim Fit custom moulds for two weeks. I inserted them into my ears as far as they would go, so that the mould flange was flush with the concha. The right mould was painful and backed out. I now know that they are both more comfortable and stable with them inserted 1 or 2 mm farther out and the wires are not flush with my ear. The sound quality is good. Shouldn't they be made so that they fit all the way in?

Yessss!! Usually it is hard to know what you’re missing out on. I’m happy to hear you’ve found the molds are worth the investment!

The wires should not be flush with your ears. Wear the molds where they are comfortable.
