  • Today I'm sharing the birth story of my 8th child. Due to some health concerns, I was induced in a hospital but still was able to have a positive and empowered birth without an epidural!

I know exactly what you mean when they can’t find a vein. I had to have a blood transfusion a year ago and it took them several hours to find a vein every time they thought they had found one it would blow. Took several nurses finally one nurse asked if she could pray over me I said yes please. Well she finally found one and it lasted through the rest of the transfusion. God is in charge and knowing the nurse was a believer I was able to relax. So glad you told your story. I have been watching for it. What a beautiful baby boy. God is go good. God bless you all

I know the feeling. My veins have always sucked and when I went in for my biggest surgery (over 10 hours), they spent 45 minutes trying to get an IV started. They brought in a vein finding light doohickey and even a specialist from a different part of the hospital, but no luck. One of the first people to try it tried again and eventually got it going. They all kept apologizing and so did I. I kept telling them I'm used to it and that it's not their fault. Needless to say I was QUITE bruised for a while afterwards hahaha

Thank you so much for sharing!
All 4 of mine were induced (not my choice), and after pitocin, I had no further medications.
With my first, every nurse on the floor worked with me because they wanted to see what an induced labor was like without an epideral or other interventions. 😂

I love it! Yes, I had nurses tell me it is pretty uncommon these days for ladies to not get pain meds.

My first and third baby were both born through induction (both we intra uterine growth restriction). While my first was very smooth, it seemed to leave me extremely against hospital birth. My second was dream at a midwife clinic and it was so smooth and I felt 100% in control, it was amazing. But when my 3rd was IUGR again and had to be induced I had SOOO much anxiety. I had wanted to be with the midwife clinic again and that choice removed. I wanted to be free to move and I was stuck tethered to machines and monitors again. And I was terrified to be there all day and all night (my first two were less than 12 hours from start to finish). But my body responds extremely well to pitocin. And an hour after starting it I was at 80%. And 2 minutes after that my baby was born. It was the only time I felt that fetal ejection reflex. I literally could not stop her from coming out, and was actively trying not to push. But she came out in under 2 minutes with no tearing at all! I don’t know if I have another, but if I do I know I will be dealing with the anxiety again, and I will once again have to trust God that everything is in his hands.

Congratulations on a sweet baby boy!
In my book, a successful birth experience is a beautiful birth experience. Honestly, I didn’t realize that breaking the water was considered an induction 😊
    so I’ve had a 1 induction, 1 vaginal breech, 2 regular and 1 c-section. All beautiful.

Congratulations! I do agree having like minded care providers make a difference no matter how a baby is born. I think that along with remembering each baby and birth is it's own unique experience. Induction generally does go a bit smoother when a mother's bishop score is higher, you have given birth before, etc. Your body had already done great work through prodromal labor plus the memory it had from giving birth before. You are blessed indeed. He is a beautiful baby.

I've had 5 epidurals, 1 spinal, and 3 inductions. I'm now pregnant with our 6th. And I desperately desire a home birth, but I just don't feel I can get through it without the epi. I do dream of a beautiful home birth in water. Sounds amazing. Pray for me please. My name is Jorden. 🩵

Jorden, I will pray that God gives you peace in your heart with however your birth may go and for the safety of you and your sweet baby. While I think it’s neat that home water births have become more common and accepted due to social media, I also think that it can cause discontentment in our hearts when we don’t get a crunchy mom insta-worthy birth. It took this birth experience to realize that a beautiful birth can look like many things. ❤️
