As someone who watches a lot of football (soccer), saying that the U20 defenders are getting cooked is crazy to me. There have only been a few instances where they've been "cooked". One was where Yukimiya entered the flow and the other one was when Rin suprised Aiku with his trivela (ouside of the boot). The rest of the times they've got passed is when Blue Lock overwhelms them with numbers. Thats why when Isagi was shadowing Rin, Blue Lock was able to get passed the defenders, because of the chaos that duo was creating. Another example is when Yukimiya needed the help of Isagi to get passed the white haired Right Back and also said that he owed Isagi one. And the last example is when Otoya was getting locked up and until Karasu came rushing up the field with Otoya and Chigiri is when they actually got passed him. So if you constantly need more players to pass the defenders, I wouldnt say they are getting cooked, but getting outplayed sounds better IMO.

Well they got cooked because they got 4 goals, a solid defense normally receive 1 or 2 goals like athletic of Madrid, Paraguay or Uruguay in their good times. The only good defense is the guy with green hair and the others are mediocre
I do agree that, for the "defense-specialized team", the U-20's defenders aren't looking too hype, but I believe that's just a byproduct of the mangaka not wanting to drag the game for too long. As such, he has to pick a few characters to give the spotlight to. And from the U-20, we have Sae, Shidou and a bit of Sendou on the offensive and Aiku is the main wall in the defense. Everyone else gets a more lowkey role, but Blue Lock still needs to crank up the ego and bust out unpredictable moves/do combos to get past them, they're not free eats like the goalkeepers usually are in this story (except for the goat Gagamaru). Unfortunately, not every member of the U-20 can have the time to have a fully blown backstory and 5 moments to shine with their own unique playstyle, or else the arc will get bloated.

U20 team got plemty of stops aside from Aiku, they forced Blue Lock players to all evolve to overcome them...and the problem for U20 is that they haven't evolved yet to keep up with Blue Lock aside from Aiku. Ego spoke about getting into The Flow (what Zone was to Kuroku no Basket) before this game, now essentially all of Blue Lock has entered The Flow and Aiku has as well. The only players on the U20 team that can keep up with The Flow is Itoshi Sae and Shidou, hence why the U20 defenders look terrible against Blue Lock currently.
