I read about this somewhere else but people think Mabel trusted Grunkle Stan because he said “please” where he couldn’t say it in the “Boss Mabel” episode…incredible writing
This is easily one of the best episodes in the show. I love how chaotic and messed up the whole situation is, it really manages to make you doubt Stan at some point. And of course the ending is mind blowing and it feels like the end of a season lol. Watching it as it aired I was just sooo eager for the next episode. And that didn't disappoint in the slightest either
15:31 It's a birthmark shaped like the Big Dipper. That's how he got his nickname. This was revealed in the episode where Dipper made copies of himself.
This episode contains an incredible revelation about Grunkle Stan; one that re-contextualises everything we thought we knew about him: 8:07 - *_"Hot Belgian Waffles! Wait, I'm alone… I can swear for real! Son-of-a-"_* Today we learned that Stan _censors himself_ around the kids. That means that, all this time, the Grunkle Stan we've seen all summer long, the one we thought we knew, was actually the *_toned-down, kid-friendly_* version! That's mind-blowing! Oh, and apparently he also has a brother, or something. 7:02 - *“ **_‘Wife’_** ?”* And now you know how his "weird personal story" about accidentally kissing a raccoon in episode 1x17 ended. 15:28 - *“What is on Dipper's forehead?”* His constellation-like birthmark? The one that's the reason why everyone calls him "Dipper" instead of his real name? The one that was shown in episode 1x07 and partially visible in the "Grunkle Stan's Tattoo" short?
i had never thought about that Stan line in that way. It really is mind-blowing that Stan "I scratch myself in places I shouldn't" Pines is actually family-friendly
I don't remember where I heard it, I think on a Disney XD commercial with Alex Hirsch, but I remember him saying that Mabel wears a sweater with a key in this episode as she ended up being the key for the portal to work/stay open
WHAT A REVEAL🤯 Honestly probably the best episode of GF we've seen so far! It made us suddenly want to speed run to the end so we'll probably finish it on Patreon this month www.patreon.com/TGLReacts
The thing on Dipper's forehead is his birth mark. This is why he is called dipper (cause its in the shape of the big dipper) he told wendy this. His real name is later revealed to be Mason Pines but that's not a spoiler so don't worry
16:09 no, that's not their father. Stan and his brother are siblings to Dipper and Mable's paternal grandfather. That's why they call Stan "gruncle". Great uncle, as in, brother of a grandparent.
This was one of the biggest secrets in the show! I was so excited to see your reactions to this one! I was not disappointed! And I can't wait for the next big episode! 😁
Eh. I mean he found a lot of evidence that did make Stan look untrustworthy and he found that. It was not the feds but his own investigation that mostly led him to distrust Stan. (A man he may have barely known or not known before this Summer.) In fact at the time I saw reviewers who felt Dipper was right in any usual sense and by making him wrong it was sending a "bad message" that you should place family loyalty over evidence. Also it could be argued Stan may have had time to say "Dipper this device is to save my brother, Mabel please don't push the button." There might be in-story reasons he didn't, but I would guess he didn't because if he had the ending would not be as cool.
✨ Fun Fact: The creators had to draw Mcgucket with 6 fingers writing the journal and take a picture of it in a studio/illustration room as if it was a leak since the fans were convinced about Stan's twin due to seeing a background character that looks like little Stan on one of his flashbacks. The creators then posted the fake leak in reddit? i believe or somewhere on the net and delete it after an hour or few but the fans got it and believe on it, leading them astray with the "Stan has a twin theory". hahaha The creators of the show love their own mysteries so fucking much that they took an effort to misled everyone.
By the way just as I'm finishing watching this I got a video essay about why this is the best TV episode ever recommended to me. Ngl it sometimes scares me when that happens lmao
This episode is incredible! I remember being shocked and not knowing who to believe. I actually sided with Dipper on this one, but Mabel saw something I didn't. Reaction did not disappoint.
✨ Welcome to Gravity Falls! Best reveal among all the cartoons I've watched. This is my top 1, number 2 would be the revelation of McGucket's memories and 3rd would be Zuko being revealed as a descendant of Avatar Roku. 💕

It's so cool that even an episode like that that seems to be filler-ish on the surface can end up being pivotal to the grander story.
Damn I never thought that
Such a hard thing for him to say, yet he brings it out for this. Gotta mean something

Remember, the birthmark Dipper showed on his forehead in "Double Dipper" in season 1?

it’s from ‘between the pines’, a special that aired in between the second and third part of the final 3 episodes
No. They're the gruncles, meaning they have another sibling that is their GRANDPARENT.
30 years and now he’s back
The mystery in the Mystery Shack
Their father? They STILL think Stan is their uncle?
Awesome reaction tho, been looking forward to this a lot.
To be fair, they do call him their uncle instead of grunckle sometimes lol
This was an insane episode. The ending surprised everybody. Stan has a twin brother and he's the author of the journals
😲😲😲😱😱😱
Grunkle is short for Great Uncle. Stan and the author are not Dipper's father's brothers. They are Dipper's father's uncles.

AGREED!
This episode is what made this show one of the greatest TV shows of all time.
I SCREAMED! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS REACTION

1:59 Mable is Beerus confirmed
"Not What He Seems": Grunklestan's 30 years of self-learning pays off...

This is one of if not the biggest episodes. Huge amounts of lore, Stan being awesome and suspicious at the same time, and so forth.

Clicked as fast as possible! This is the moment we've all been waiting for!
15:56: YUP!
OMG YESS!! i’ve been waiting for this one 😼
Still can't believe dipper trusted feds over family.
he is kid
Dipper's young, we all learn not to trust the government eventually.

He didn’t even know if Stan was his family at that point to be fair.
tbf, he didn't even know if grunkle was really a "family".
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥
THE BEST REVEAL

Clicked so fast! This ep is amazing! Love the final countdown joke🤣
This episode is incredible! I remember being shocked and not knowing who to believe. I actually sided with Dipper on this one, but Mabel saw something I didn't.
Reaction did not disappoint.
Remember how distressed Stan was when his was replica went missing
maybe the real gravity that fell were the friends we made along the way.
