Not to mention that trench barrel can’t be refreshed. Also, I think you’re misunderstanding how the damage for the gun works. The damage and DPS is lower than a slug. A slug does 27k to the head whereas the HB does 12.9k*2 per 2 round burst hence the 25.9k. The HB has an RPM of 62 for the volley and cannot roll with assault mag whereas a normal slug has an RPM of 65 and can roll assault mag for an RPM of 70. No matter what way you spin it, it is inferior in every category aside maybe total damage per brick and double kill potential.

Little mistake, Heritage as kinetic does 15% more dmg than a energy slot slug. For reference these are the dmg of 3 shotguns: Arcane Embrace as arc dmg does 22805x2=45610 Legato 11 as solar dmg does 41467 Heritage as kinetic does 47687 (which is exactly 41467x1.15, the special kinetic multiplier) Heavy burst actually do more dmg, and has better dps by a fair margin if you compare them against slug in the same slot. Tho their precision and reload problem persist Corrected dps and total dmg of slugs are actually 59932 dps, and 787872 total which are respectively 3% and 7% worse than Heavy Burst. Edit. I see so many people confused about the kinetic increase which got removed ONLY against bosses in The Final Shape. Carl doesn't count as a boss, he is a miniboss so it gets the 15% Special Kinetic dmg increase. As extra confirmation i shot carl with both Supremacy and Omniscient Eye (both without dmg perk) and got respectively 38644 dmg and 33603, which again, is exactly a 15% dmg difference.
You messed up the numbers, u tested a kinetic against an energy weapon, the new frame does more damage(slightly but its there[like 10%]) than other normal energy slugs(tested them both on carl and both weapons with the same light lvl)
I'm still going to save a FTTC + Precision Instrument roll just for the potential buffs either this episode or next. They've buffed the Heavy burst HC slowly, though I still think they could use a bit more love in their base stats, so I'm sure we'll see some buffs for these too. Farm one, vault it, then remember I had it whenever I see a related patch note. edit: For anyone that cares I got an FTTC + Precision Instrument with either 96 reload speed at 14 in the mag (backup) or 100 reload speed with the new double stat mods and although I didn't record anything specific I've noticed that for the haunted lost sectors (normal because theres no way to fireteam finder in-game for it) with the Headless I'll kill the Headless with 8 shots remaining. The reload speed? Yes it does feel a little sluggish reloading each one but at around that 80+ reload speed I found it's not THAT bad. I mean I still hope to see it buffed in some way and reload 2 at a time or get some reload scalar built into the frame (like Alloy mag) but overall? It wasn't nearly as bad with Flared Magwell.

It's very weird that it reloads one at a time, especially since the 120 scouts have rounds reload and reload two at a time. Time savings using the existing slug reload animation?
I’ll be comment #20 to say, please stop using Carl for comparing energy to kinetic weapons. You put too much effort into these videos to make such a glaring mistake. The shotgun will badly need an update from Bungie once the only good roll (trench/dual loader) is fixed. Should’ve been a full reload in one motion, not one bullet at a time. Bad experiment
That actually is somethin worth considering honestly. Especially with Cascade + BnS on the Chill Inhibitor or even Envious Arsenal + Cascade on the seasonal.
That new frame feels like its halfway done and needs a whole extra passive benefit to work as an interesting shotgun choice. Its like as if someone at Bungie made burst fire a perk and then realized its been a while since Shotguns got a new frame and turned a perk to a frame. Maybe if they upped the RPM of the burst a bit , increased the ammo count a bit more and gave the shotgun an actual magazine for very fast reloads of shells and essentially turn the frame into a legendary lord of wolves, then there's room for some interesting new things to play with. Some of the stuff on it does feel like a baby Lord of Wolves, a prince of puppies. This gun suffers from not thinking a bit more outside the box of what a Shotgun could be. Some number tweaks alone wouldn't be enough, it needs more mechanics where you then can play around with a lot more perks that you otherwise wouldn't play around with.
Heritage is still just so friggin good. Headshots with it just feel so good on orange and yellow bars, plus reconstruction means you never need to reload it.
Feels like this heavy burst weapon woulda benefited greatly becoming a heavy weapon, like a legendary version of Acrius similar to the area denial frame mimicking witherhord
One thing people are missing is 120 scouts load 2 bullets at a time, regular deul loader gives you 3, and enhanced gives you 4. We didn't get to see this interaction until we got DL on the timeworn wayfarer and I'd imagine bungie figured it be cool on this 2 burst slug too but realistically the 2 burst slug is just like wardens law in the beginning: nothing more than a novelty. Granted I'm glad we're getting new and cool weapons but half the sandbox in pve and pvp is useless for the most part so giving us more stuff and continuing to poorly balance things is a net negative imo.
Was pretty underwhelmed with its performance at base but the bugged trench barrel makes it really fun to use, if/when they get rid of it this gun will probably end up just sitting in the vault until they buff it
Straight up I started using it and as soon as I saw that at least for me right now that it applies to all shots from this weapon both of the dual shots.... I'm going to be honest it seems kind of nice, But when they remove trench barrel from it then it is absolutely useless and I will never use this weapon ever again because without trench barrel it is as inconvenient as he said and more.
The sad part is when they do fix it, hopefully they don't, it is going to completely nuke this weapon and any reasoning to get in there and get anything since all the other loot is bugged now as well. I really hope they don't fix this roll because it does actually feel useful with the Titan setup I have.
2 things this needs to change to be good: It should reload 2 bullets at a time by default. Dual loader should do 3. Damage needs to increase to be slightly more dps than a default slug. Still, having 4th times basically refund every other shot whilst hitting crits feels great even now. Absolutely going for an appended mag/4th times/precision instrument roll.
If they wanted to kinda differentiate it from slugs, I’d increase the total ammo by a decent margin. It’d take longer to reload and have lower DPS, but have higher uptime with larger reserves. Just my opinion tho
Either give it intrinsic dual loader or make each two-burst only consume a single round of ammo. That was my expectation for the gun prior to release. This needs a rework already, sadly.

Before watching this video I was on the lookout for FTTC/PI, but now that I see how it works, I'm gonna wanna try something like Threat Detector/Volt Shot (I'm also trying to be realistic until the RNG is fixed). I've tried Volt Shot on stuff with low reserves and it tends to fizzle out, but the fact that it loads less might work out. Or be a bust with an odd ammo count in the mag.
You reload… a single slug, FOR EVERY SHOT MADE. AND EACH ROUND FIRED IS ITS OWN SLUG. You have to spend half a damn minute reloading the thing because is this. What a haphazardly created archetype.
duel loader is very much mandatory on this thing or grave robber and slideshot, reloading this gun manually is just awful, that said I really do like this gun, just something about it feels really nice to me, really do think it should work like the burst linear fusions rifles though
Well untill they fix trench barrel use trench becasue its a timer it doesnt take any of the trench stacks when you shoot it but still gets the dmg bonus
Can this thing proc cascade point with one pull of the trigger? Would be incredible. With FTTC you shoot twice, it puts two back into the mag and procs cascade point.

I'm not going out of my way to farm this but I'm keeping an eye on the rolls that drop. In the Vault & wait to see if Bungo give these the Wardens Law treatment. This is essentially the same deal, cool idea not fleshed out properly leading to just meh.
my only complaint is that the reload takes so long as it has more in the mag so you could probably get away with more damage maybe with auto loading if it has it (not sure)
Outside of the not intended TB on it, its perk rolls are pretty bad, and then add on it takes both shots to equal normal slug, its very bad😢 Also even if its for this brief moment i was very happy to use TB and it actually be good. TB was nerfed back in season 2 of d2, they haven't touched it since and other perks have overshadowed how it was before its nerf
Instead of this new shotgun archetype they should of made a frame similar to the “arca plasmor” from warframe it shoots pretty a energy wave of death best way I can describe it
I will describe this weapon as “completely pointless”. I don’t use slugs at all, so giving me a slug that’s harder to get consistent precision kills with, does less damage, less dps and less total damage is just worthless.
Seems like almost strictly worse than a normal slug with extra effort required, thats unfortunate. I'll still save a roll for the inevitable tuning that I'm sure will come later.
Just wondering if anyone knows if the enhanced heavy ammo mod on this shotgun is bugged? It didn't seem to be working last night when I was using it I had a heavy ammo finder on my helmet and after I switched to a different mod I was getting a ton of heavy ammo bricks all over the place?

It is funny that the only reason people are wanting to use it right now is because of trench barrel because of the fact that at least for some of us it applies to all shots with only the duration being the limiting factor, (the footage I looked at that which I just recorded seems to show that it applied but I don't care enough to make sure 100%) Because strictly speaking this archetype of weapon is awful like it's a steaming pile of shit like if it was a double-barreled type weapon that went with the borderlands bandit shotgun idea of how a weapon works where it's a drum magazine two barrels so you double the amount of pellets.... Then it would probably be pretty good because you would get more bang for every trigger pull, It's a poorly thought-out idea you can see it from the very moment you start using it because dual loader is almost necessary to make it decent. And that is a sentence that has never been said in this community ever,

The whole season is lackluster at best, the event is full of bugs and the "new and revolutionary" weapon that is rewarded is actually dogshit. They really can't do anything good at the moment.

It should get Alloy Mag build into it's frame honestly. It's a scaling increase now so the less ammo you have the faster the reload is from alloy.

This shotgun will proc cascade point in 1 trigger pull. It's actually nuts, and for sure the best use case for the shotgun that I've seen so far.

Bummer about the gun but it's always cool to see new archetypes
This shotgun feels beautiful on my stasis Titan, freeze then shatter to the head with double burst
Feel like your video is slightly off can’t remember who but in there breakdown the hb was doing about 10% more damage than a regular slug
Seems like almost strictly worse than a normal slug with extra effort required, thats unfortunate. I'll still save a roll for the inevitable tuning that I'm sure will come later.
I'm hoping the value here is some range forgiveness.

Just wondering if anyone knows if the enhanced heavy ammo mod on this shotgun is bugged? It didn't seem to be working last night when I was using it I had a heavy ammo finder on my helmet and after I switched to a different mod I was getting a ton of heavy ammo bricks all over the place?
Wow that’s so pathetic that the heavy burst is harder to aim, takes longer to reload, AND does LESS DAMAGE than a normal slug. I’m never using that garbage.
ehroar's testing is wrong, carl isnt a boss so kinetic weapons do 10% more damage to him, against bosses the new shotgun is actually better
well u can talk about traits but its no point as its random what falls..
It is funny that the only reason people are wanting to use it right now is because of trench barrel because of the fact that at least for some of us it applies to all shots with only the duration being the limiting factor, (the footage I looked at that which I just recorded seems to show that it applied but I don't care enough to make sure 100%)
Because strictly speaking this archetype of weapon is awful like it's a steaming pile of shit like if it was a double-barreled type weapon that went with the borderlands bandit shotgun idea of how a weapon works where it's a drum magazine two barrels so you double the amount of pellets.... Then it would probably be pretty good because you would get more bang for every trigger pull,
It's a poorly thought-out idea you can see it from the very moment you start using it because dual loader is almost necessary to make it decent. And that is a sentence that has never been said in this community ever,
So basically its festival of the class item since everything else isnt worth farming for
festival is 1800 bright dust every week, and that's about it 🙂

I kept my dual loader and trench roll😭 and it’s good tbh
What a disappointment. More work for less damage. Ill keep the Eva roll (that Bungie will probably revert anyway 😭), but other than that i just need to take a break i think.

Ehroar you are missing the point. It's for breaking 2 barriers in one shot by rapidly changing targets in melee range.

The whole season is lackluster at best, the event is full of bugs and the "new and revolutionary" weapon that is rewarded is actually dogshit. They really can't do anything good at the moment.
In summary, it's a cool idea, but kinda bad to actually use

its because ehroar didnt realize that kinetic specials still do 15% damage than energy against non-bosses
