This is so cool! I live very close to little river and have always wanted to go ride the trails but haven’t had a capable vehicle. It’s awesome to see someone so close to home enjoying the scenery
It was a good time! I've been wanting to hit Little River canyon for quite a while, and my travels finally brought me through there, so I wasn't going to pass up the chance!
Thanks! Me too! I could have had it done several months ago, but I just sort of back-burnered it until recently. There was some stuff that I wasn't able to recover, but it didn't impact the overall flow of the video.
@@DefiantOffroadMentone AL is also a very pretty small town only about 20 or 30 minutes aww from little river and has some unique places, like The Hatter Cafe.
The diffs dragged a little, but the surface is all dirt/clay, so it didn't cause any drama. In the few areas that were deep enough to high-center me, I was just careful about my line. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@DefiantOffroad I have been there a few times during the winter & summer but want to go during the foliage change, Should be pretty cool. Just finished your GA Traverse series. Well done!
I'm curious about your jeep. Do you have any videos on your jeep? Year, engine, mods, suspension, tires etc???? Also very curious on how you find the trails/fire roads in Virginia???
I use OnX Offroad (and sometimes the MVUM) to find new trails. The Defiant is a 2017 Rubicon Recon Edition with an AEV 2.5" Dual Sport suspension riding on 35x12.50 General Grabber X3s
@DefiantOffroad Nice I was checking them out. I'm just hesitant to buy anything dji right now "my mini 2 really needs replaced" with all the talks of banning dji drones.
From my understanding when talking to Little River Canyon, overnight camping is not allowed on the backcountry roads for the foreseeable future and has not been since at least 2023 when I asked about it. If you didn't overnight camp, this is not overlanding, this is trail riding. Please update the title of your video to reflect activities performed because people are searching for actual Overlanding, which involves camping, in north Alabama.
How do you know that this wasn't part of a trip that involved camping at another location? Am I required to camp at the location that I filmed the video, in order to meet your stringent requirements for how I title my videos?
I'm dyin' here. This MFer thinks you can't say "overland" if you don't show yourself camping in the video. Does he also lose points for not making coffee on camera and cooking a full meal in a skottle?

Nice video. Live in Alabama and plan to do this trail.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Another awesome video, Will! Love it!
Thanks, my friend. I'm looking forward to when we can get you back out on the trails with me!
I'm glad that you managed to salvage this one. It's a great video, and would have been a big-time bummer to permanently lose it!

Very good video 👍👍😃
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Really entertaining video. Your channel is so underrated. You should have at least 100k subs!
for real! his channel should be huge!
Thank you for the kind words. Perhaps one day I'll get there!
Very well done! I loved it!
Thanks!
I've never heard of this place before. I'm glad that you were able to salvage it and share it with us!
Thanks! I'm glad too. For a while I'd written this one off as only good for a few IG pics!
Another great video, Will! I'd never heard of this place before. Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks! It was definitely a fun day!
great video!
Thanks!
Looks like a great trail and a lot of fun. I need to get out that way.
Doooooo it!
Another great one! Sometimes I forget that Alabama isn't all flat like Florida.
Yeah, sometimes I forget that as well!
I remember you mentioning that you'd gone here. I'm glad to see that you were able to get your video done!
Thanks! I would have gotten it done sooner, but fixing it kind of got back-burnered for a bit.
Nice! I need to get the map and do that route.
It's worth checking out!
I am very familiar with these trails. Great video. It's a wonderful area to explore. Then head into town to have coffee at The Spot.
I'll have to hit the spot next time I'm down!

fantastic video! i loved the narration and camera work. did you drag your diffs at all in those ruts?

GoPro is the worst. Glad you got your video files back though. Great video!
My main frustration with GoPro is the glitchy app. Nearly losing 1/3 of my footage from this trip was just the final straw.
Such a beautiful area. I have been wanting to get up there in the fall. Hopefully it will work out this year.
You won't regret going!

@momomotorsports thank you!!
Seemed like a decent place. Was there any camping there?
Camping isn't allowed in the preserve.

awesome video! did you hit any other trails in AL while you were there, like 600-1?
No, unfortunately I didn't have time to when I made this trip. I wasn't down there on an overlanding trip, and managed to squeeze this one in.
Great video! Is it worth making the trip down from Virginia to hit this one?
Thanks! I don't know that I would make the trip solely for this trail, but I would definitely include it in your plans if you're going that way.
Great video; is this on the Canyon View Forrest RD?
Hey- Thanks for stopping by! This was mainly shot on Roads 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 9 and on Oak Hill Rd. I followed the route that's in OnX Offroad.
How do I get to these trails at little river i live like 20 min from there and never knew it was there me and the family love exploring a.d camping
Hi! I placed the GPS coordinates for the trailhead near the beginning of the video!
If you don't mind me asking, since you stopped using GoPro, what did you switch to? We've definitely had some issues with our GoPros.
I replaced them with the DJI Osmo Action 4 and the DJI Pocket 3
@DefiantOffroad Nice I was checking them out. I'm just hesitant to buy anything dji right now "my mini 2 really needs replaced" with all the talks of banning dji drones.
@@DefiantOffroadBy the way awesome job with the salvaged footage of an awesome trail.
Insta360 also makes a great action cam. I'm staying with DJI though. I've got no major complaints with their cameras.

There's a quote from "Blade" that comes to mind. It involves ice-skating uphill.
@@DefiantOffroad For sure. This dude is definitely trying to ice skate up hill.
