To be honest, spent a lot of time rewriting my points for paper 1 because i didn't read the question. Gonna be more careful next time

exact same thing for me. It's super annoying since I had the knowledge to answer the questions well but just didn't read the question properly.
my problem was i would say a point and then have to cross it out bc my plan didnt work out, was that due to lack of knowledge? also i think i knew the content fairly well but the question felt harder

I don't think so-it wasn't as bad as I thought. 25 marker on contestability was so free and labour market questions were fun especially after Dal explained all of them.

Guys who did a level edexcel paper 1 ?
My only question is what I the world was that 25 marker?
It was something like (Evaluate the contestibalilty of the fragrance industry or any industry of your choosing)
I practiced every economics and business past paper for weeks and can nail time management with 10 to 15 minutes left to check over all my work. Learned essay structures to a T
Revised every topic and application, so I was like, okay, won't be thrown off by anything, but this was so left field. 😵💫
All I could do was write everything i new about the contestibility market, added in application linked it to the beauty industry talked about an oligopoly and perfect competition market but at that point I was just grasping at straws 😭😭😭. Ohh and I also added in a diagram because what else could I do 🤷♀️😭
I was going to do the one about electricity but my evaluation and application points I know where going to be weak in comparison to contestability
So,
My first question is:
When it says "or any industry of your choosing," does that mean you have to link it with the industry they gave you, or can you completely adapt your own industry as long as you are talking about contestibility?
Secondly, if you did that question what did you guys put?
But overall that was a really good paper in my opinion like I feel I at least got 5 - 15 marks on the 25 marker (maybe more maybe less) but it's way better that "0" (no offence to anyone who left that question blanc)

I literally did the same thing. I tried the first one, question 17, but then I after writing one page, I couldn't think of anything else, my mind just went blank. So, I just answered question 18 instead, but then I got stuck too after writing about contestability, oligopoly and linking it to brands in the perfume industry and how they might have less contestability in the industry due to brand loyalty which could act as a barrier to entry.
It was a really good paper, and hopefully I get 5 - 10 marks on that last one.
Could you give me some timing tips please! And what tips would you recommend for structures? I really need to smash paper 2

Timing. I normally get bored of the paper after an hourly in, when I start from front to back, so to stop that I....
A) Read every question before writing anything gives my brain more time to develop an answer
I ALWAYS start with the 20 or 25 markers and stop at 20 or 30 mins if it is unfinished it is okay cause I can just add to it at the end.
Then my hands are super sore so I go to the front do 2 or 3, 4 markers and any quick one markers, move back to do the 15/ 12 marker.
Ohhh always make sure to read each extract twice. By reading the questions before reading the extracts you now what to highlight for your application points
After both 12 and 15 markers are done I finish all questions from section A.
Remember a mark a minute so spend no longer on these questions, move on even if they are uncomplete as you can gain marks from other questions instead of having a perfect 8 or 4 marker but a terrible 15 marker. You can have a good / decent 8 and 15 marker which helps to maximise your marks.
Make sure when answering these questions you are always re reading the question just so you know you are answering what they have asked and not wandered off and if you have wondered off in your analysis, you can always link bavk to the original point in your evaluation. (I'll explain more in my next comment)
Always check your hand writing is a clear easy read because enough can have the right answer but if no one can read it you lose marks.
If you start with the big questions but really have no clue, write some quick notes and 30 to 40 mins before the end of the exam stop where you are and attempt to write something such as: a definition, what it's used for the equation, what are its identifying features (I'll explain more in the other comment). Or really anything and everything you know about what it's is asking you to discuss / evaluate.
But I also did all the past papers of paper one under strict time conditions like 1 hour 45 mins, 1 hour 30 mins at first would always miss the 8 and 15 marker but got better which is why practice is so important.
More to that point. I also would mark my work against the mark scheme but I don't really know how to as I am not a professional. But the beauty in this is it provides you with other alternative answers counter points things you never thought of and an insight into what the examiner is looking for and how to develop your argument for max marks.
I hope even 1% of this helped it so long winded I am so so sorry 😅

@@vidurajaysooriya4143 Please can you tell me what you did for section A 2marker. I calculated the nominal percentage change of around 39%. And the inflation percentage difference as 14%. And then added it together to get real terms 53%. Is that right?
