Ok now that I have gone through cosmetology school and understand how to do hair properly and seeing this from a hairstylists point of view. Ummm… I wanted to jump in there and do it myself.
Here are some tips for anyone who wants to lighten their hair at home
1.) DO NOT wash your hair before hand. The reason is the oils in your hair will help to protect your scalp from the chemicals. (That is what happened to James and that was why his scalp was burning)
2.) Your hair can only get so light in one session. With James he has pretty dark hair so it would have taken him a few tries before he should have gotten to the platinum he wanted.
3.) LET YOUR HAIR REST! When you have dark hair and you want platinum hair do only one round in that day then wait about a week or 2 and during that time use protein treatments and moisturizing masks to build the strength in your hair before doing it again.
4.) If there is still yellow in your hair use a cool toned violet/purple toner. Because if you look at a color wheel yellow and violet are opposite of each (same thing goes for red/green and orange/blue) they cancel each other out and the violet with kick out any unwanted tones.
Brad Mondo is probably fed up with UA-camrs wreaking their hair and him taking at least 3 hours out of his day to fix it😆😆😂😂😂
