Some things I took from this video...
    - Pip's defense lead to instant offense.
    - Pippen's anticipation of the post pass and intercepting it with his length is a lost art. I'm not sure why more players don't copy it.
    - I like how Pippen would take off on his reach-around steals and his teammates would deliver the ball perfectly for a quick score.
    - More often than not when Scottie blocked a shot he didn't try to send it into the 3rd row and just give possession back to the other team. He blocked the ball and kept it in play so the Bulls could gain possession.
    - Trying to block a Scottie Pippen dunk was a big mistake lol

Snowjob13 Facts. Ask Patrick Ewing about getting in Pippens way when he dunks.
As for the post play anticipation, I think most guys don't think to do that because the focus of today's game is more offense oriented and less defense, especially with the way fouls are called, and also because of that a lot of studying defensive positioning is lost like the midrange game and the post game as a whole. It's more run and gun now

I would have loved to have seen Pippen in this era. The free-flowing, up and down style the league is in now was tailor made for his talents. I see a lot of Pippen in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kawhi Leonard. They're not as smooth and coordinated as Pip but both have similar skill sets that are getting better year by year.

My observations exactly, on ur third point, a classic one was when he fell on his knees and webber thought he had him beat, only for pip to reach around and knock it to ron harper , run down and get iit back for an easy dunk..I can imagine how that very play must have frustrated Webber

Tattoos of all things holding him back??? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Besides, he's only 25 so he's got plenty of time to reach his potential and with the way he's progressing each year, that time is coming real soon.

First no homo but Scottie was an athletic freak. His body was built for speed, power, agility. He had a quick first step and could penetrate defenses and once Scottie got into the paint he's eatin. Had a very underrated mid-range game as well. If you slow down his jumper, it's about as pure as it gets form wise. He could stretch the floor in the half court set and hit the three. Guard 4 positions. Rebounding. Steals. Post game. Very high basketball iq. Master of all the fundementals, unselfish. Everything you could want in a teammate. That winning championship mentality, paired up with Jordan was just amazing. I was fortunate to have witnessed.

Uhhh..Breaded basketball player here here!! LeBron is trash compared to Pippen..pippen was not a stat padder. Stats lie..Lebron is below average off the ball at the pro level in a set offense. LeBron also doesn't allow others to make assists to others at their highest potential. He's to dependent on the ball always being in his hands. Look at Pippen's post game repertoire..Lebron was still developing his post game repertoire in miami (his prime) and its still trash. Pippen can defend Tim Duncan all night at an elite level..Note: im not saying he could stop Tim Duncan. LeBron cannot defend Duncan block to block at even a high level. LeBron is the only player in league history that had to have a custom made system built for him due to lack of fundamentals. Example He cannot play in the triangle offense, 3 gaurds out on 2 big men in, flex, ect..at the pro level. The league chooses a face of the sport based on what they think would be most entertaining to most people. He's a mature high school basketball player at best. Take out the MARKETING..he keeps his team from winning rings.

Most graceful athlete to ever play the game, IMO. No joke. I remember watching every single Bulls game from the late 80's-on with my parents, and one of the things that sticks out is how my mom used to always say that Scottie had to have taken ballet because of how effortlessly he did things that nobody else on the court was doing.
20 years since his prime, and however many guys could run faster and jump higher, but we're still waiting to see somebody who can do things with the style and grace that Pip could. Not sure when that will come...

Forget about about scoring. Pippen's defence actually took 2/3 points off and gave them 2/3 (+ an opponent foul) in return for each steal or block. That something that stats still today can't comprehend. That's one possession of +6 possible point turnover/differencial for a team in a matter of seconds (not counting momentum). That was the secret sauce of the Bulls.

@@LovingTinha He was better than LeBron. Pippen was the 1st real point forward..and I'd definitely take him over lebron mainly because he was way better OFF the ball, and never played for stats. Pippen allows others to make assists to others..at their highest potential (which doesn't award him the assist) LeBron doesn't do that..the lebron James system is a stat padding system, and thats the only system he can play in..due to lack of fundamentals, and being below average off the ball at the pro level(specially in his prime), and way too dependent on the ball always being in his hands. The league chooses a face of the sport based on what they think would be most entertaining to most people. I believe the best player (Pippen) was used to market the most entertaining player..Jordan.

and yet kids think the pullup 3 is a modern thing. This video doesn't even include the infamous defensive stand against the Knicks in game 5 of the 1993 eastern conference finals, that's how good Scottie Pippen was. Outside of the true rim protectors there were back in the day, Pippen was possibly the most feared defensive player. It was foolish to try to handle the ball against him or Jordan. If they double teamed you, you had no hope.

Well this was a nice surprise to wake up to. Like everyone else said welcome back. You never disappoint. I still think Pippen was one of the most unique players ever with his combination of athleticism and skill, the ball-handling, scoring from inside and out, the court vision and willingness to go all out on the defensive end. Kawhi Leonard was really the first guy who I think almost mirrors Pippen except without the fluidity and explosiveness that Scottie had. Pip was definitely the precursor to players like Lebron and Kawhi.

    • @Mainomane226
      @Mainomane226 6 років тому +3

BrutallyH0nest You spot on bro. I just told my fam the other day Kawhi Leonard reminds me S. Pippen. People don't realize Pippen was more of a defensive superstar than a scoring type of star. He had Mike for that. But he was more of an all-around talent than many NBA stars of today. He really had no weaknesses in his prime.

Pippen was WAY MORE than just a Robin to Batman. More like a Nightwing (someone who could hold his own) alongside Batman. This guy is incredible on BOTH ENDS of the court. There is nothing he couldn’t do. He’s just so underrated because he played alongside MJ. But at the end of the day, despite the recent beef between these guys, the G.O.A.T.🐐 himself ALWAYS praised Pip and even called Scottie his MVP. 🏆
