I still don't understand why there aren't more subscribers for your channel. You work so hard and have excellent taste as far as renovating the chateau. I guess people don't just know what they're missing.
Wow, thank you!
Hello from Australia. 🙂 I was just thinking you could make a silicone mould off the finial for the gate, then pour in resin Ans you will have a solid replica of the final. You can then paint it to match the others and no one will know the difference. Added bonus is, you now have a mould you can use again and again to replace any other broken ones! 😁
Perhaps getting a welder to fabricate missing pieces of gate?
I was going to suggest that. ADRIAN... Who can do anything so well 👍could have some flat Thick metal ones created but he needs some iron. Drill and a metal cutter to create the fineals. Painted gold they would look great as well. 🫶
I don't know if anyone answered Beth's question about why her Dad added a nut to the bolt. When you cut the end from the bolt, it will likely distort/misshape the remaining threads on the bolt. So, by twisting the nut from the bolt shaft you will realign the threads so they will function properly again. Hope that helps. The gate is looking great.
Very nice! Seems like whatever Carol touches turns to gold-literally! Removing the stumps will really clean up the area & your eyes will go to the beautiful restoration of the gate not the old tree stumps. Looking good. Thanks Beth! Take care.
The gates are looking great. Well done you two. In regards to the stumps, I think I remember Terry and Ash putting copper nails into the stumps to kill them off. You might give that a try. Good seeing y'all!
The gold points on the top of gate looks fantastic! Very elegant 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
The gate looks beautiful! Loved what you painted gold- it certainly makes your gate and your entrance look world class! Great job you two!
Thank you very much!
You all are geniuses! Love Adrian’s contraption! Oh my goodness Carol adore the look of the gates already!! Beth you are darling. Love the cute comments below as you edit. Hugs guys from Utah, U.S.A. !! Thanks for making my day!!
Great video as always Beth ! Great job with the gate carole ! The chateau is going to have the best looking gate in the village ! ❤
I hope so Nick 😊
Hi guys. Gate looks phenomenal! As to those stumps; you need to kill the roots of those trees or the suckers will just return. A good, non-toxic solution is to drill holes (1/2 inch to 1 inch bit) every 4 inches on top of the the stump, then fill all the holes with epsom salt and then enough water to soak it in but not wash away. Also sprinkle epsom salt around the perimeter of the stump and moisten but do not wash away. Then cut a tarp (preferably brown so it isn’t a glaring blue) and fit it over the stump and wrap tightly in place with nylon rope. This inexpensive treatment will kill the stump and begin its decomposition. Best of luck!
Great tip!
Carole, the gates r AMAZING. The combination of the black with gold works so well together as u and Adrian do. ❤
The gate looks amazing and it isn’t even finished yet! Love it, well done you two!
Thanks so much!
Oh guys the gate is looking amazing especially with the addition of the "Carole Gold". I hate 2 & rarely make suggestions but in this situation I cannot resist since Carole mentioned it anyway...& that is the lock on the gate...even though it's not in working order, I'm seeing it gold. You can try it & if it doesn't look pleasing you can always repaint black.
God's blessings 2 you all.❤
I like the gold touch on top and in middle. But the black makes the gates stand out. Thanks you two!!
The black gat with gold bars (the one you painted) and the gold finials on top looks amazing!
They look great as is, but you two are so talented I'm surprised you've not found a way to make a mold of the finials to complete the top of the gates.
Your entrance gate is fantastic! The gold adds the perfect touch. I’m also excited to see the chair Beth is upholstering and what you decide to do with those massive tree stumps. They would make perfect planters if hollowed out.
I love seeing you using the whizzie on gate,,,that little roller works wonders ! ❤🎉 beautiful!!
The gate's look amazing like them black and of course gold, Carole's trade mark and yes Adrian it does make a grand entrance well done to both of you take care and see you both soon 💕🌼🤗
Thanks Carole 😀
WOW what a transformation of the gate, the gold adds a touch of elegance!!
The gate now reflects the the elegance of your transformation of the chateau!!!
Thank you 😊
Hi Carole & Adrian, great to see you both! I think the gate is going to look really good, love the gold touches! Leave it to Adrian to come up with a finial holder...smart man! Have a wonderful week, take really good care. Lots of love Kathy x 🌸🌺
Gates look amazing. I love the gold and black. In Canada we would hire someone to do “stump Grinding” with a special machine. No idea if this this a thing in France. Love Bethany’s little comments!
Hello Carole and Adrian and Bethany! The gate looks amazing and once finished, will be jaw dropping! 😊❤
Fingers crossed!
Great job, Carole and Adrian (and you too Beth 🧡) the gates look very elegant 🖤💛
Thank you so much!
Wow!, Looks awesome. I wish I could afford to have you come do my entry gates. I wish I had a lavish entrance like that needing done up.
The front gates are looking wonderful. Well done to everyone involved in restoring the front gates. 2 questions: Can you power wash off the 2 columns on either sides of the front gates and also power the steps to the front doors? (2) Given that you have to be back and forth from France to England, I think you need to sleekify the entire property more, like permanrntly getting rid of all the vines growing on all the walls around the entire chateau; permanently get rid of the shrubs at either side of the chateau and install more grass; permanently get rid of the shrubs that the caterpillars ate (sorry Carole I agree with your brother, get rid of them). I think a sleeker,, cleaner look is better. Less maintenance, especially since you guys are getting older. Hey Carole, I think you need some more painting outfits (smile). Let see you set some fashion trends with different painting outfits. Also Carole, please tell Terry that your viewers want him to return the gazebo.
I agree. Less is more.
The gate is looking beautiful! Looking forward to seeing your chair Carole.
Me too!!
Ooh I wanna power wash those stone columns at the front gate 😩 (I just really love power washing whenever/wherever possible)
See you tomorrow 😂
The gates look lovely Carole!!!
Black and gold, albeit being very art deco, is definitely a great combo for the gates, they’re looking amazing! Great job to welcome autumn 🍁
Thank you 😊
Missed you on Wednesday!😢
Me too!!
Great to see you kicking goals on your to do lists! Love watching your videos and appreciate your multiple talents! ❤
Thank you so much!!
I'm watching Carole paint the gold on the gate "decor" and wondering why you don't just pour a layer into a pie pan and "dip" the fronts? Also, I love the "art deco" effect of painting the cross bars/pieces gold in contrast to the black vertical bars! If you can (work wise), you could make everything vertical black and everything horizontal or decorative gold! A lot more work, of course, and I'm sure whatever balance you strike will be a lot better than where they were!
Any definition to gate will be wonderful.
I always really enjoy the "how" and "why" of Carol and Adrian's work! I find it so interesting!
Glad you enjoy it!
The gate is looking amazing!
Could you not make a mould and make resin copies that can be used to repair the broken finials. but the gates look great really make a dramatic change..
well done
Robb Torremolinos Spain
Thanks Robb 😊
Очень хорошо, когда и у мужа и у жены руки золотые😊
You could get a locksmith to sort out the lock on your gate. It all looks brilliant
The gate looks very pretty especially with the Gold Finials ❤
The gates really do look good. Gold makes them look even better.
Tne gates looks fabulous !
Thanks to Beth's hard work.
Love you guy's! ❤
Thanks so much!
Had a laugh out loud moment when Carole said to Adrian, "You do your clean, then I'll do mine!" Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that way 😂 Gates look great, really changes the entrance.
😂😂😂
The gate is going to look amazing. ❤. Look forward to your videos on Wednesday and Sunday. See you then next Wednesday. God Bless and keep you all safe and sound. 👏👏👏👏👏👏🫶🫶🫶🫶
Thanks so much!
As always....Beauty!
If you paint it orange before gold , the gold looks much better
Adrian, Carole, and Bethany, those gates look so much better. The gold really does stand out beautifully. ❤
Thank you so much Peter 😊
A joy to watch two very talented people...with best wishes to yourself and your daughter ❤
Thank you 😊
Beth, I love your little asides!
Terrific looking gate! Perfect choices!
Hi Carole and Adrian, the gates look good, but we knew they wood. The stump reduction will definitely make the entrance look better. If anyone can take on the task, it's you Adrian, looking forward to the next video. Love from N.Y.
Rome, Georgia, USA likes them as well. Great Job You Two.
If you have the rest of the broken finials, I had a thought. Under the spike is a bit of a knob, you could perhaps cut the spikes off and rethread the knob finials back into place.
If you are trying to avoid the art deco look, what about painting the gates the same blue that's on the front door? Keep the gold trim of course, just like your front door.
The gates look amazing. What a difference paint makes. Good job to all of you. xx
Thanks so much Stephanie! 😊
Always love it when you glam up any part of the chateau with gold! Bravo!
Johanna Maine USA
Thank you! 😊
Loving the gold. It's definitely a grand entrance.
Gate is looking grand, love your videos, don’t stop, I look forward to them every Sunday afternoon & Wednesdays. Have a great week.
Thanks 👍
Hi Carole, Adrian & Beth, I'll cut to the chase, there is always a place for gold on the gates. Reference Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace and you'll see. Balancing or spacing the finials out looks great. There is a detail below the top horizontal bar that might also look good painted gold and if you can find an old single larger finial for the center of the gate, It may just add a finishing touch. Your work is impeccable, I love knowing each week brings more progress at the Chateau. Mark & Scott PS...The gold bars look fantastic, maybe add gold to the rest of the curly iron at the top and the bottom, just a thought.
Alright, beautiful, everything, gorgeous. Love what the both of you all have done.
Thank you so much!
I like the idea of all the curly cues being gold. But what ever you do it's going to look great, and a lot better than the rust and green. I would cut the stumps into seats or chairs. Then you could put planters there also.
Wow! What a job! Well done, it's beautiful!!!!
Thank you so much!
Carole, Adrian , wonderful work . The main gate is beautiful . Thank you so much BETH for the video . If you or other people want to add more golden arrow on the top of the portal, it is quite easy with "sand casting" . The most expensive in casting is to make a model . You already got it so a professionnal is able to make quickly more arrows in iron .
Hello Adrian, Carole an Beth! The gate is looking beautiful! The black is just so stunning!
I had a thought about the post on the inside of the gate. The one that Adrian mentioned he thought at one time held a bar for the gate. What if instead of removing the post installing a light on it or on a pole attached to the post to give it height for more coverage? This would make the gate and drive more visible at night. It might be possible to find a solar light that would fit with the architecture of the gate or convert an antique to solar, so no wiring would be needed. The original element of the post could be saved that way.
I also have wondered if you’ve considered contracting someone in metal working to recreate the pieces of the gate that have broken off? Happy Sunday to everyone! 😃
Stunning gate restoration! Very elegant! ❤
Thank you very much!
The gates are looking very classy again. Like the gold and black, looks smart. ❤
Thank you 😊
Adrian, you're a lovely and marvelous husband to fabulous Carole! Hugs to both of you!
Thank you so much!☺️
Oooh the gate is looking better bit by bit!
Fare thee well, Carole's Shorts! You've fulfilled your usefulness right to the very hole-y end! 😆
😂😂😂
Gorgeous! Love the gold and black.
Thank you!
You guys are amazing! It's unbelievable how skilled you both are and I'm very, very choosey. About everything 🤪🤪🤪😜😜🤪🤪
Thank you so much 😁
I’m also fascinated with watching y’all restore that beautiful ole girl ! Sending love from Memphis Tennessee
Carole the gates are going to look fantastic and Beth you have done an amazing video once again.
Many thanks!
Gates look fabulous dawling…….. !
It also blew my mind that you have no fear of heights 🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
If only I didn’t !!!
Gates look lovely! ❤
Please keep going , I love watching. I want you to live there. 😂❤
The gator going to look beautiful when they're finished especially the gold❤❤❤❤
LOVE the gold !!!! Midas touch
Adrien hire a stump grinder. It will make quick work of removing those stumps.
Aren't the gates of Buckingham Palace done in black and gold? That's what those colors on these gates reminded me of.
Just looked and yes you’re right!
And Versailles ❤
Wow, Carole, there had to be gold...stunning look for the gates!! Looks fabulous!
Thank you Jane. Gotta have gold 😂
Absolutely gorgeous! You guys did a great job on the gates! ♥️
Thank you so much!!
Как чудестно что мы можем видеть ваши видео !❤
Carol and Adrian, I enjoy the two of you and your daughter so much. I know you need to return home to your company and future new grandchild, but I will miss all of you.
We will continue UA-cam in England
How lovely!!!
I think it would look nice to find small domed finials to put in between the gold ones.
I miss your work on your Chateau. Miss you
See you tonight 😊
The gate looks beautiful! ❤
We put large colorful ceramic bowls on our tree stumps to create bird baths. Add large stones in the bowl for them to stand on. Add fresh water regularly. Birds love them.
The gold on the top finials really looks rich! Good job!
Thank you 😊
Gates looking amazing love the touches of gold anything more would be too much - deff try to kill off the stumps - some gravel on the driveway would be the finishing touches thanks for sharing ❤
I'm loving the GOLD!
Will be able to admire the wonderful gates shortly. But on camera they are looking good
I love it when Beth chimes in
😂😂
It looks like the original colour might have been beige or light grey to give exactly the opposite effect of what you chose - make the gates blend in with the stonework. Victorian and early Edwardian buildings all across Europe were surprisingly bland and tone-in-tone. Then in the 20s and 30s all the ironwork was painted black. There's a short documentary on the restoration of Peckham Rye station (a massive Victorian building that sat derelict for a long time) and they discovered that the cast iron gutters were originally designed to blend in completely with the stone facade, as if they were part of it. The same thing happened in Vienna where I live. Most people think of the iconic train stations by Otto Wagner as white and green with red brick viaducts and yellow stone pillars. A recent survey discovered that in fact the original white of the rendered facades wasn't as white, the brick viaducts were a pale yellow and the ironwork was painted beige rather than green. The doors had a faux oak finish. Digging through old pictures some people on the internet actually discovered that the "iconic" green is as recent as the early 1980s, yet most people seem to think the stations have always been like that.
Carole wearing my fav footwear 😜 the gate looks stunning guys 😍x
The gates are looking good. The gold really sets them off, however glad you are using it sparingly, to much might look gaudy. Thanks for sharing.
