lots of mines are have deep levels now under water. most of the levels, adits , & inclines are above water but due to the mines not in use any more the water builds up and not pumped out like when they were used. some mines allowed deep levels to become flooded as a result of ore spent or it was to hard to keep pumping out. some mines also allowed the flooding to allow greater stability to upper levels . many i have seen like this
