I have to say it feels completely soft and smooth on my face. I don't feel any abrasive quality to it at all. Years of use with different ones. No redness, no irritation, smoother skin. Less acne. And yes, hyperpigmented areas? way less dark.

i can honestly say that I've been trying several different products for past 2 or 3 yrs for my acne; the ONLY thing I've personally used that i saw an immediate difference was the activated charcoal Konjac Sponge from Wal-Mart My acne for the first time in years is almost gone thank God
Jamie ModelVsDirector I always recommend Konjac sponge for acne. It is also efficient for keeping blackheads in control. They gently exfoliate the skin but not too much... I’ve a video explaining how to use them.
You are saving me so much money and time! No longer searching for that "magic" serum. Cleanser, exfoliator etc. etc. Thanks for all the free education and entertainment! Wondering if you could do a lifestyle, diet effect on the skin for us. For instance we all know smoking , alcohol, stress etc is bad for the skin but could you explain to us way and how these things damage our skin on a molecular, scientific level? Also is dairy, chocolate or other foods "bad" for the skin? Thanks!
I love my konjac sponge. I soak it in warm water and squeeze it a few times making it soak up water and soften. I've been using it for a couple years now and my skin has never been so smooth. I had been using a wash rag which was rough compared to the sponge. I hang mine and it dries out ever day and I just rehydrate it with water. I replace it once per month and have never had a problem. Its not abrasive at all.
The sponge is not meant to be used as a scrub or exfoliating agent, it just helps you lift off the cream cleanser so that it washes away more cleanly. I have to use a gentle, innocuous cream cleanser, but I find that when just rinsed with water, cream cleansers leave a residue which irritates my skin, because however gentle the cleansing agent, some of it is left behind . This thing is much gentler than a face cloth for just lifting off or wiping away the cleanser (followed by a final clean rinse, of course). Facecloths tug, this is slippery so it doesn't tug. You're not meant to push down and scrub .
I like using one bc I tend to rub my face too hard when I use just my hands, and this gentle option is significantly more affordable than a foreo brush. if you get it wet enough, the sponge is very soft and not rough or abrasive at all
Anne K it’s still possible that other germs grows in them. There are always a bacteria or mold resisting ... nonetheless I have a great tip to keep your sponge 🧽 free of bacteria. I share it in my video... basically you keep them in a close jar with boiling water and voilà
Also, if you have a few, not just one, you can rotate using them so they have a chance to dry out completely between uses. This should help prevent mold & bacterial growth.
I have actually been using a konjac sponge for over a year now. Previously I was using a Clarisonic brush for more than a year and thought the konjac would be more gentle. In comparison, it is more gentle. I have had fewer acne breakouts with the konjac, but than again I am getting older too. I was about to purchase another sponge, but now I'm not so sure. I don't like the thought of washing my face with a sponge that is harboring potential nastiness. You really made me think about my choices with this video.
I've used one of these sponges to easily and quickly remove a thick layer of bentonite clay on my face. It did the job, but left my face a little red on my nose and chin. But the redness went away quickly. Nice new style of video! Have a good day.
Konjac sponge is being used in Japan for over a thousand years and we all know how Japanese people have one of the best skin out there and they are very serious about skin care too. I say don't be discouraged to use it. Ive been using it and I know a lot of those who do too. We all love it. Try it for yourself :)
Tks.Dr. Dray. It would be nice if you could try the sponge alone with your usual cleanser, so you could potentially kind of isolate the sponge effect. Juste an idea. Tks for all ur videos!
Thank you so much for educating me on skin care, I've watched hundreds skin care videos and spent so much money trying to keep up with the new anti-aging creams and didn't see any difference, on my face, thanks for being so honest and adorable about anti aging products, no more buying spending for me, wish I found you earlier, take care🤗

My man is 6 years my junior at 54 and every one thinks he has a toy girl when it actually me that has a toy boy lol xxx
The sponge wasn't used properly - they're meant to be boiled to sterilise before use, hence they're meant to be very very soft and squishy, and bacteria free
Did u have a chance to soak it until it was soft all the way through because I have one and it’s super soft on the skin, sometimes I think it’s too soft.
Your "I'm dubious" face throughout this whole video is hilarious. I love that you're skeptical yet still gave it a 'dinner and a movie' try. Thanks for another great video! PS-yes, reusing body poufs and sponges is so gross!
FYI your moisturizer wasn't missing the little straw thing. Now they just put that little pump at the top and it is supposed to suck up the product. I come across this all the time and it does a terrible job. The best thing for you to do is to hold the bottle upside down and shake it and that will get the product close to the end of the little tiny straw that's in there and then it will come out next time you press the pump. But the real reason I hate this setup is because you will never be able to get all of the out of there so it's a total waste of money to me. I think companies realized this was a genius way of making you run out of product long before you actually ran out of product.
A couple of years ago, I made the mistake of using a granular scrub on my face. Ouch!!! I suffered through redness, tenderness and irritation for days. Never again, and would not ever consider using the konjac sponge, despite seeing it being used all over UA-cam. Thanks for the confirmation!
I read some studies about spearmint tea being used to lower androgen levels in women with PCOD and another about acne. A lot of people swear by it and even had their derms tell them to add it to their routine. So after couple months of daily spearmint tea use, I no longer have acne. I'll get a little tiny one around ovulation but nothing like I used to. Just wondering if you've heard of this.
Seems every skincare UA-camrs is getting the same PR package from Nudu and their skincare line at around the same time. I just received mine the other day but glad to see that you hopped on the bandwagon with some other UA-camrs. I was going to do an unboxing first impression but now seeing your opinions about the product, I think I will just try it for a few weeks and see how it behaves on my mature skin vs. your youthful skin type and then have a review for my subees. I am also using Retin-A, as are a number of my subs and so I think that would be a good insight to see how it does with people that are on current Retin-A treatment. I used to have a konjac sponge and honestly did not light the slippery or should I say almost slimey "slip" feel when it was wet. I like using either my fingers as you do, or something like the silicone Luna type facial massage/brush once in a while. Take care and stay out of that TX heat! : ) Life According to Maria

"I don't want to the the same intelligence level I was in Kindergarten." Thank you for educating us all! I am learning so much from your videos. Like this voice over.
I really like your videos but this is not the proper way to use the konjac sponge. What's the point of testing a product if you don't know how to use it ?
I tried a konjac sponge once & very gently used, it felt fine, *but* like you, Doc, it seemed it would be a breeding ground for nasties. Fingerpads work fine. The Nudu PR people certainly made the rounds of YT. Not tempted to try it. Blessings! Jackie in NY state
Yes I see slight irritation after using the sponge on me personally. I'm tossing mine. Those days are over. Like you say.....finger pads! That's all we need.
I tried the sponge it felt soft but it did make my skin flare next day but I did rub not pay like Dr Dray demonstrated. I agree I get paranoid trying new products do don't do it as often these days.
Thank you for your review. I wonder if the irritation is from the sponge or the cleanser? As for the sponge being abrasive, you really need to keep it very wet at all times. It may not direct you to do so but you can feel the difference.
Doctor! I was watching your videos and just learned that you live in Houston!! I hope you are all right!! My prayers are with you and everyone in Texas!!
You have such an adorable smile! Why do you think there's such a big trend to Asian skin products recently? I've read that even Asian women don't use all that stuff (although you wouldn't know it from watching youtube!). Thanks for keeping it simple for us! 😊👏
I always hear about something then feel like, oh no! I better go buy that! Most recently it was the Clarisonic but I have not bought... gonna just chill and only buy Tretinoin, spf and moisturizer I think.
Hello, I've been loving your channel! I have a question, after watching a few of your videos I realized how horrible traditional exfoliation is for the skin. But I do have visible flaky skin and dry patches--is it best to just let them "fall" off by themselves? Or should I be using something to aid in the process? Thank you!
I used to microwave my sponges but not after reading this article last week. "It may nuke the weak ones, but the strongest, smelliest and potentially pathogenic bacteria will survive. Then, they will reproduce and occupy the vacant real estate of the dead." www.nytimes.com/2017/08/04/science/sponges-bacteria-microwaving-cleaning.html
I bough one once, did feel nice, but ended up not using it very much as I was weary of bacteria in the sponge after first use. Not for me, but, hey, if it works for you, why not
I would love your opinion on the brand Centellian 24, Madeca Cream. According to the Korean store in bought it from in Sydney, this brand is recommended by Dermatologists in Korea!
CENTELLIAN24 What is Centella Asiatica? It is nicknamed as tiger grass because tigers like to roll in its leaves to heal their wounds, it is traditionally used for its healing and soothing actions. In cosmetics, research carried out on centella has let to isolation of certain components called asiaticosides, which have the capacity to soothe irritation and stimulate collagen synthesis. Thoughts? I think it would make a good video because the story about the tigers is quite funny!!
This ingredient has been shown to be helpful in wound healing and inflammatory skin disease. however, bear in mind that this cream is a cosmetic, non-drug...so not regulated in terms of showing efficacy. Appears to be safe, with no adverse reports aside from burning/stinging in rare cases
Hey Dr Dray! Well I made it! Finished watching all of your videos and am current. Whoo hoo! I have learned so much!! I cleaned out my cosmetic cabinet and have taken on a simple approach in terms of lotions and such. I have tried a few of your recommendations and am loving my new routine. No longer will I fall for all the beauty gimmicks. But most importantly I have upped my sunscreen game :) Looking forward to future blogs!
I was thinking of trying a konjac sponge, think I'll skip it. A question if you don't mind. I spotted a Hada Labo product I haven't seen before. Have you tried or have an opinion on their Gokujun premium hyaluronic oil jelly? It seems like it might be good for dry winter skin or using with differin around the eyes, nose and mouth. Not sure if I should add a direct link, but the Amazonian has it. Hope you're having a great day :)
Dr. Dray, I just watched a you tuber's video about dermatologist rolling. I replied that my dermatologist said dermatologist rolling with Rosacea she felt was not a good idea. Well this person responded that dermatologist rolling can actually help Rosacea. She then said probably not a good idea if a Rosacea patient has any red bumps along with their redness. What are your thoughts with this statement.
Kissed by a squid. Submerged in a slimy ocra boil. Haha. Doesn't sound appealing at all. I like eating squid, but to be kissed by it is too much to handle ;) My finger tips can do it for free and I'm not detesting that so far. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day :)
Great video! Loving these voiceover testing videos! I used to use one of these sponges. It was gentle but a washcloth could do the same thing. I stopped using it because I did not need that friction on my skin and I share your same concerns about the breeding ground it could become. 🤢 By the way, what camera do you use? Do you mind sharing? It has a nice auto focus!
Hi Dr. Dray! I hope you're having a good week. Did I miss something or did you skip the Hada Labo gel on your wet face and just went in with moisturizer?
I remove my makeup with bioderma micellar water with wipes and to make sure it all gone i used konjac sponge with my cleanser, every night before used i always putting the sponge into microwave n hoping the bacterial all gone haha. But after seeing ur vid i might be thinkin twice more more.. So u have any tips to makesure the double cleansing along with micellar water? Cause am not using any toner or other, i have an oily n sensitive skin with a couple bumps of acne.
Completely off topic here. Question about sunscreen, I have heard that calamine lotion makes a great sunscreen. Yes I tried it and it totally kept me from burning and tanning. However, is it safe to use daily? Is it more on the all natural side? It does contain way less ingredients. But better I ask the queen of skin care first 😉☀️
Hi Dr. Dray! I would be extremely grateful if you could review the 'ISDIN Fotoprotector Fusion Water' suncreen recommended to me by my dermatologist. This has to be the best susncreen I've ever used in my life in terms of application and the way it feels. However, I feel skeptic of its sun protection ability as well as the safety of the ingredients and the several claims that it makes - alcohol free, oil free, eye safe etc.
I have to say it feels completely soft and smooth on my face. I don't feel any abrasive quality to it at all. Years of use with different ones. No redness, no irritation, smoother skin. Less acne. And yes, hyperpigmented areas? way less dark.

Same. Konjac sponge won't scratch or iritate your skin. It's like jelly. Can't hurt you in anyway.
The sponge is supposed to be put into water for a little bit before using it. This will make it softer and less abrasive.
i did put it in water

But I do have visible flaky skin and dry patches--is it best to just let them "fall" off by themselves? Or should I be using something to aid in the process? Thank you!
they will fall off on their own..the more you scrub, the more flakey you skin will become
I used to use this to combat the occasional flaking from tretinoin medication. How do you recommend taking care of this?
I wonder if putting the sponge into the microwave would kill bacteria lingering on sponge. Xoxo roseingeorgia
probably would kill the majority
I used to microwave my sponges but not after reading this article last week. "It may nuke the weak ones, but the strongest, smelliest and potentially pathogenic bacteria will survive. Then, they will reproduce and occupy the vacant real estate of the dead."

It feels like “A kiss from a 🦑 squid”. Hahaa. You’re so funny!
A kiss from a squid - 😂
Hahha!
"dermatologist recommended" is a marketing gimick, fyi
This ingredient has been shown to be helpful in wound healing and inflammatory skin disease. however, bear in mind that this cream is a cosmetic, non-drug...so not regulated in terms of showing efficacy. Appears to be safe, with no adverse reports aside from burning/stinging in rare cases
Thanks Doc. You are the best. I'd love you to try it and let me know what you think.
Awesome!! Thanks so much ms Laura and have a great weekend!
I haven't tried that one but did see it on amazon
The cleanser & moisturizer seemed nice. It looked fine on your skin too :)
:)
How often should you use a konjac sponge?
"Kissing a squid"!! 😂🐙😂🐙
lol!
This is like speeddating a moisturizer 🤣🤣🤣 im dying
I have talked about derma rollers before and caution people against doing at home dermarollers, regardless of the skin concern
Lol! Thanks!! Yeah it is a bit over the top imo
Hi Dr Dray I though your not suppose to add anything to those sponges just wet and gently wash your face???
I don't know what the rules of dating a sponge are...that is just what the instructions said
Great video! Loving these voiceover testing videos!
I used to use one of these sponges. It was gentle but a washcloth could do the same thing. I stopped using it because I did not need that friction on my skin and I share your same concerns about the breeding ground it could become. 🤢
By the way, what camera do you use? Do you mind sharing? It has a nice auto focus!
Thanks! Yeah it is a bit too harsh, lol. Sony
No sponges in our house. Bacteria bacteria 😱 Nothing worst then going to a restaurant and they wipe the tabel down with a sponge. Yuck 😠
Lol!
Or you could wash them...
@@carolinebullock6434 That won't help much, eventually desinfect them by boiling them, but they still won't be totally clean
I'm using retin a. And every morning I'm having yucky flakes on my face. Will this product help ?
Ryan Ryan no
Can I use face wash instead of a cleanser for this?
Hi Dr. Dray, have you tried or consider using facial steaming as part of routine skin care? How safe is it to use couple days a week? Thanks.
no...don't do this it is not a good idea
Hi Dr. Dray! I hope you're having a good week. Did I miss something or did you skip the Hada Labo gel on your wet face and just went in with moisturizer?
Rosa Jelke Im just doing the sponge as directed for simplicity, not my normal skin care routine
Not my cup of tea. I'll stick w/ my Wonder Cloth which I launder after 2 or 3 uses.
What are your thoughts on apple cider vinegar as a toner? Is it safe and effective?
bad idea...can cause chemical burns
do you use ur cleanser on the sponge
Thank you for another video. Your skin is beautiful, but those sponges definitely a nay!
thanks! hope you are having a great night Ms Lilian
I remove my makeup with bioderma micellar water with wipes and to make sure it all gone i used konjac sponge with my cleanser, every night before used i always putting the sponge into microwave n hoping the bacterial all gone haha. The expression she makes when trying the cleansing gel for the first time! Lol so cute!
A kiss from squid.... hahhahahahaha I can't hahahahaha
Completely off topic here. Question about sunscreen, I have heard that calamine lotion makes a great sunscreen. Yes I tried it and it totally kept me from burning and tanning. However, is it safe to use daily? Is it more on the all natural side? It does contain way less ingredients. But better I ask the queen of skin care first 😉☀️
It does not
I enjoyed your "chatty" review. :-)
Thanks!
hey can you pls do a review on innisfree products?
thanks for the idea
I wish you could see some of my stuff I've done. I'd love to send ya one. I've got it everywhere need to share the love of creating
Save all those sponges for crafting painting etc. can ya tell I'm painter. Ha ha

Is topical vitamin C good gor your skin?
it is complicated
Lol in what way?
Hi Dr.

This is a link to the product.
Thanks for sharing this
Great video! It looks like it created a red spot on your left cheek? I think I'll pass on this.
