Very helpful! my quails have been acting differently ever since we introuduced a new female. i realized they didnt have enough space, but we sorted that, and made it 1ft longer! :) (we have 5 japanese quails)
we rescued 1 from a farm with two other chicks, we didnt know how to take care of them and couldnt go out, we thought he was a chick even though he looked different, we searched it up and thought it was the same as chicks but no he was much more different, thank you for this.
This is just superb, I have been researching "pharaoh quail" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Eeyila Rudimentary Expediency - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is a smashing one of a kind product for discovering how to raise healthy and fertile quail minus the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend got excellent success with it.
Great video. Thanks for posting it. The quail in your hands looked so chilled out. Lovely to see. I have three Japanese quail now, all females and they're great little birds. Similar set-up to yours but with a little more room. When I first rescued them from the previous owner, they were not laying at all. Now, they're amazing. 5 eggs every day form 3 birds. How do they do that?? They go nuts for meal worms, dried crickets and spinach in addition to the Quail mix I give them, so maybe that has something to do with it. Awesome little birds and each has such a distinct personality.
This was great, thanks, I have been researching "what can coturnix quail eat" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Eeyila Rudimentary Expediency - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is a great exclusive guide for discovering how to raise healthy and fertile quail minus the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my colleague got cool success with it.
just a question I was thinking of a really big area for the quails like a bathroom size maybe smaller and have colorbond fence surrounding where the area will be and then have a little hut in the area so they have a big space to walk around in, is that ok for them? I would have a metal netting going across the top of the fence like a roof so nothing can get in or out cause we have dangerous birds around where they will be. Is this ok for quails because I would like them to have a lot of space.
More space is fine for them. Will they be on dirt? They do tend to dig a bit so might make holes to go under the colour bond, i would recommend some netting on the bottom that is pinned down. They also love little plants they can hide under.
@@TheGardenersLife I will make sure they have a good terrain for them but where the fence will be there is already wood planks surrounding the area where the fence will be surrounding that's why I though it would be a good place for them so they wont be able to dig under the fence.
This is glorious, I've been looking for "keeping quail outside winter" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Eeyila Rudimentary Expediency - (do a google search ) ? It is a good one off product for discovering how to raise healthy and fertile quail minus the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my work buddy got cool success with it.
I haven't heard of the italian quail nor can I find any reliable information on it online. It may be a term coined by quail breeders. I'm fairly certain mine are Japanese quails. Do let me know if you find any other information on them and how they differ to Japanese quails.
It should be noted that while some are called "Italian" that is simply referring to the color variety. They are still in fact coturnix japonica, Japanese quail. Just a color variation developed in Italy therefore coined Italian.
Idk anything about this and I am always antropomorphizing like every ignorant human, but I can't help but feel a visceral sadness when seeing those cute feather balls stuffed into that small box in your yard. And it's even bigger than the recommended space. :/

If Quel is unable to walk or stand as if paralysis dies, then which medicine should be given, pls tell?
Im so sorry to hear. Sounds like your quail is sick and should be seen by a vet. Wishing you best luck.
Thanks for reply
Sounds like Miraak disease
I want a open bottom quail cage but my negbour has a cat that always is out
I have cats in the neighbour with the open bottom cage and they haven't gotten in. Cats probably won't dig under cages like dogs would.
Aren't those birds Italian quails?
