Was really good to listen to your experience. I'm a town dwelling hardcore camper with years of military and scout experience. We really need more landowners like you that can open up to what was camping in the old school ie basic provision water, loos and drains. I camped on farm land all through the 60's and 70's when the relationship between farmers and campers didn't seem so contentious as it does now which is a pity. When I camp I use my military and scout experience which keeps me, my pitch and my environment clean and healthy. I always also make a point of entertaining the landowner to a camp dinner if they wish. On the downside there are far too many civvie woosies that don't know what they're doing. They're easy to spot. They use modern nasty plastic polyester tents. These things degrade in UV light and have a lifespan of a Mayfly. Use canvas. My canvas tent (repaired many times) is 40 years old and still good. They think they are Hiawatha They want loud noisy drunken parties They want Savoy Hotel services for Premier Inn money. They don't know the meaning of the words hygene or cleanliness. Showers aren't necessary if you know how to keep clean in the countryside. All the best in your endeavours and I really hope, with your help, we can get back to a civilized relationship between farmers and the wider public.
Hi. I'm so pleased that the campsite was a success, it's great that you met such interesting people and have obviously taken a lot from to in terms of experience. Best wishes for your licence application- if you decide to do that. I love the idea but I'm not sure it's for us up here, lol! Best. Johnny. North West England.
I've need to gain about 11-17 lbs to attend a camping event on a farm So far I've just had the farm festivities & the farm based restaurants in my upbringing 😊😊😊 #thanks
YES!!! I love how you went from "gerroff my land!" to actually making some wonderful new friends. I'm so pleased this worked out for you and I hope you're able to do it again next year.
What a wonderful thing to do , if you do the camping again I’d love to book a pitch and muck in with the animals and crops. You could sell fresh eggs to the camping guests
It's all a learning curve :-), but think of this way the initial start up costs of this will never be wasted as new gates ect can be repurposed, so well done and good luck.
Excellent video, very informative. I have been thinking about setting up a couple of pitches for wild camping in my garden. I will defiantly give it a go next year.
I'm so glad that the campsite experience turned out well for you in the end. A shame you spent so much time and energy getting that entrance sorted beforehand but it does sound like it may have been a bit of an issue so you have probably dodged a bullet there!
Hi you seem to know loads of info about legislation in the UK which is really helpful. I’ve been looking up info on cold pressed neem oil in the UK and I’m getting mixed information it seems like it’s banned but it’s available online including Superdrug’s which has left me really confused wondered if you knew anything?
if i lived closer!!! you have loads of ground if you had a place to put up a small electric fence setup...hint hint ;) i could bring my boy Tyson! lol im glad you liked doing it "rough camping " is way better than glamping pods "she says rolling her eyes!" i like that you have done your 100 days of farming videos (almost), did you find it hard work? i suspect when you are busier it might be more difficult but it was lovely to watch the whole summer of videos.
I prefer rough camping too...though we have discussed some proper tree houses as guest lodges! It was hard work. I think the next series will be less videos per week because it was a lot to do.
@@BrimwoodFarm IM SURE OF THAT!! can you imagine doing more ! it was a great first year, a cameraman (or CameraCanadian) would a good idea to help move the process along...and an editor so you dont have to carry it and move it all the time. do you have trees big enough to house a house? or would they be on stilts in the field? LOL either way might be fun.
@@BrimwoodFarm lol I built a tree fort in my tree when I was a kid, when I say "fort" it's a very loose term... It was only a platform I wedged and nailed so I could just sit in my tree as a kid. I was 9 or 10, the house was torn down when I was 12 and the tree really trimmed back (infills-2 skinny houses,) were built on the lot. I look forward to seeing them!

Really interesting on your camping experience. I'm coming next year. And you will have spread your word of mouth and good vibes!
You are always most welcome 🙏
Sounds like your campers really enjoyed staying with you.
Me and my family are going to miss the 100 days of farming , we have really enjoyed it x

Haha. SO true! Maybe I like 'some' people after all. 🤣

Yes! I allowed people to pre-order eggs or pick them up from the honesty stand.

Exactly. I did need a gate there at some point so at least its done.

Afraid I don't know anything about neem oil.

We have a couple of huge oak trees. I'm imagining small lodges just enough for a bed, seat etc. We'll see ... long term plan!

Yeah. It really worked!
