Well said.....as a brass player, i approve!!!! Colin....please compose a piece with brass supporting another section, perhaps strings. AKA John Barry.....lush brass chords supporting string melodies. Brass in this context is what really shows a librarys diversity, from the fanfares to bold melodies, but also good at supporting.

Me too. Trombone here. The sound of this brass is really exquisite. Collin’s piece of course is terrific but this brass library sounds exceedingly good.

I feel maybe some rallentando with some of the short notes brought to a tenuto would work better in sounding less artificial (ie 1:44) ? There's some pre-cooked room space in the sound which stops together with the short notes perhaps? Anyway this new version with less fff sounds so much better!

Amen to that! With samples is easy to forget how even at mf-f a real brass section can rip our heads off lol So I often hold myself back and use the higher ff-fff dynamics only if I need that extra sizzle, just for color. Everything else sounds more rounded when go as high as f.

Yes, the softer one is so much better! And without the comparison I would perceive the first one as a bold and energetic one, too. No need to crank up expression and modulation to the max. The second one became stale and unnatural in my opinion.

Yep, what you said about using the higher dynamics using too much of the frequencies in the mix is dead on. Best to have the widest dynamic range from which to choose.

Sounds amazing!! I saw the video on instagram that Solo Strings and Brass were aiming for a January release. It sounds great! :D is there any update on Pacific Woodwinds and Pacific Percussion?

They've been back-burner in terms of post pro but are very close as well. The perc is playing well but I want to review it more carefully before release since there are a lot of dynamics and reps that have to work together. I'll have a better idea of schedule for those after the solo strings and brass are out. Best - JB

Hey jasper, will we get legato with pacific brass? As much as i like the concept of Caspian, the tone is too thick (for my taste) especially when you play chords on the trombones for example.
We need the kind of brass that blakus has in his template, soundwise i mean. i know these are bespoke samples, but whats the difference in the recording process/setup that makes it sound so much different than caspian or Angry brass f.e. , i would really like to know!
IMO, you make the best orchestral libraries :))

It's a consideration for one of the Pacific expansions. Best - JB

The FF sounds like the players would be exhausted. You also lose the subtle dynamics on the initial attacks at FF and it makes the performance, especially the attacks, sound compressed.
