After having bought a fair few pedals on the strength of your beautiful demos - I've soon come to realize that your otherworldly guitar playing goes an extremely long way.
honest to God, yes. Its not just the pedals that make these videos good... it's how perfectly used, played, and edited these videos are. Thank you for being like.. the best channel on youtube
Does this even count as gear review? Where's the dude with the ponytail bashing out blues licks on boutique effects pedals that were probably not developed with classic rock sensibilities in mind?
Whenever I'm in a bad spot in life, I return to this video to help ground me. The loop at 3:58 is my happy place. After all these years, I finally pulled the trigger and bought a The Atmosphere on Reverb for like over $100 under MSRP. Thank you for the memories, and introducing me to the last reverb pedal I'll ever need.
This is the pedal that took my Eventide Space off my pedal board. That's not to say I don't love Space...quite the opposite. I have made Space my studio reverb and Atmosphere my Space replacement on the pedal board. Smaller, yet still capable of all the cosmic goodness I've squeezed out of Space for the past five years. Thanks for the great demo!
Wow. Great video, demo, and soundscapes. I have this pedal and enjoy it immensely. This labor of love by the Doc and his Gang is just phenomenal. You have the 16, you got the screen savers, the knobs, and then you go under the hood and find where the magic lays waiting. It took me a while and I'm still tweaking and twiddling, but that's so fun coaxing the coolest ass sounds out of this thing. And when you double click the patch button and go in there make sure you have an expression pedal because man it will turn your pitch patch into a super whammy deluxe and just create all sorts of juicy noises from the other patches and then you will be also able to change the waveforms on many if not all of these patches and much more. It's super ridiculous. Best reverb of the year for sure because it gives you so much. I mean you can change so much on the fly with an expression pedal or without one it can still be altered very quickly. It is like a really kickass car that you can't stop driving. Don't get fooled by the beautiful ambient music this machine does, it can rock as hard as anything too. Put on the Spring, Plate, Gate, Aether, React and some fuzz and delay and whoosh. Total sonic anarchy. A must for today's boards.
I'm so glad I just stumbled on your videos. They are ART, through and through. Visually stunning, incredible playing, and the editing is masterful. Thank you.
Knobs restores my faith in the world of music. After wasting so much time with humans, I know now, I only need a few pedals to go far beyond the boundaries of conventional band-type performance.
Regarding it being mono. The hardware used in this pedal and other in its size (the Chase Bliss Dark World for example) only has so much processing power. While the FV-1 can do stereo signal processing, it uses twice as much processing power than a mono signal and then you’re left with a more lofi reverb sound (which can be fine, just depends on what you’re looking for.) The FV-1 is stretched to its limit in this pedal. Ryan at Dr. Scientist got it to do things people didn’t even know it could do! There are plenty of higher fidelity stereo reverbs out there go find one and be happy! This pedal will suit many people’s needs and there is no need for the hate. Thanks Knobs for the beautiful demo! The LFO section is amazing.
Thanks Ryan, much appreciated! You nailed it, we actually used every line of instructions available in our mono patches, not a line left to accommodate stereo.. all we could've done is make the pedal dual mono by doubling literally everything but that would have put it in a bigger box at a bigger price, a scale I don't think we wanted to make, and that's not really a proper stereo signal anyway. So ,in lieu of stereo, our goal was to pack as much power into as small of an enclosure as we could, with all the digital features and tons of options and 16 patches, we put everything we had into everything else we could.
Thank you for the recomendation. I'm out to buy another pedal from another company (to which my money is happily going to) because I'm pretty tired of having a bunch of mono reverbs and delays to play with my stereo setup. And seeing that DR. Scientist couldn't be bothered to actually make an fx pedal that makes all the sense being a stereo one (and thus putting the stereo rig guys and synth/keyboard players in the "no no" zone), then I shouldn't bothered with this company either. PS - seen no hate in the coment section thus far, except for yours. People are complaining with a reason, that doesn't make them haters, snowflake. But please, keep riding that dick. I'm sure DR. Scientist will become your best buddy and send you a bunch of pedals for Xmas. 🤔
@@ryanworthley4555 just ordered the Ventris dual Reverb. Waiting impatiently as my money gets transfered. Hope it arrives soon. Can't wait to try out ALL of its possibilities with my gear.
Hi! Wonderful demo! I have a question...at 3:52, are those reverse sounds coming from the Atmosphere or is it a reverse loop from something else that's being fed through the Atmosphere? Thank you!
Because guitars have one output, amps mostly have one output, and few guitar players have stereo amp setups. I’m a synth guy, so I feel ya....but the reality is that synth pedal people are a HUGE minority in the market.
i tried the rever and it was cool. own the Meteore and it is pretty damn epic. take a look a the ac noises ama. if you haven't already as well as the home noise effects black lodge. both superb and unique.
Is there any Radical Red Reverberator DNA in here? I miss my (Desert Highway) Sunny Day Delay. Would be awesome if that was expanded upon in a package such as this.
Sorry, but Knobs makes every pedal sound the same, lol...I know that sounds ridiculous or impossible, but they the same odd/abstract musical approach, which is cool, until you realize you don't know wth the pedal actually does differently than all the others they've reviewed....they all sound like it could have come from the same unit lol
Rao Art Maybe what that is telling us is that you don’t need a giant pedal board with 25 effects in it, but that a creative mind with even just one pedal should be able to create something sonically interesting. The player is the key not a bunch of overpriced bandwagon effects units.
@@softlightsymphonyband couldn't agree more, a creative mind is always the most important part...so Knobs lacks the creativity than lol, because their vids all sound the same, same vibe, same style, blah blah blah, I was impressed at first, but then I started listening with the intention of making a purchase, no matter what pedal it was, it seemed like they were playing the same unit
Rao Art Many artists have a distinctive sound and style or a very distinct approach to creating music and knobs has a very distinct one that is pretty well established and pretty clearly on display. It may not be your thing, but I’m sure you can find plenty of other videos of guys playing random white guy blues licks and pseudo metal shred runs or whatever else floats your boat.
Also like, in what way does this being sponsored make it different from any of the other videos? It's literally the exact format. Knobs isn't telling you whether it's good or bad or anything. Knobs isn't telling you what to think about the pedal. Knobs is just showing what they can do with the pedal and like, that's the same thing they do in every single video.
After having bought a fair few pedals on the strength of your beautiful demos - I've soon come to realize that your otherworldly guitar playing goes an extremely long way.

Yep. The pedals can be cool and all, but knobs just has a beautiful, sublime aesthetic that touches your heart and melts it away.

That UI fits so well with the sound.
Knob’s demos remind me of the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind snowy beach scenes.
5:42 definitely sounds like something off of Fennesz’ album Endless Summer
Very true, love that album
the outro is always so perfect. really nice demo

I think I’ve read that they’re using a looper so they can tinker with the effects while it’s on repeat.
DAMN IT KNOBS, I was super happy with my BigSky and now I'll have to try this out!
Nice Bandu blocks!
I’m going to just put all your videos on as background chill music. Visuals are nice too.
Why are all the cool reverbs mono :((((
ikr??? mono reverbs sometimes have a really interesting spatial feel via being mono, but stereo conveys so much more
Damnit man... I didn't realise.
There is a pedal called "Mimiq" from TC electronic that can help with making mono signals into stereo I think

Do you have a go-to EQ that you use on your Fender Blues Jr., or do you adjust based on the pedals you demo?

This was fucking insane
Really lovely pedal. Just wish it was stereo.
why is the bypass a pizza?
How many pedals do you have? And how on earth do you manage to master them all?

asmr pedal demos
Too bad you can't have it 'bright & airy' without the hiss and floor noise.

mono in and out.....what a shame
pack me one please
