Yeah. Usually it’s the opposite. We had both acting classes and a musical theater class in my high school. The musical theater program was pretty new, and there weren’t any requirements to be in it, like a year of either acting, stagecraft, or any music class, or really any theater or music experience at all, which I think they should’ve done (and probably have by now- I graduated a couple years ago but it was one of the fastest-growing classes). During one year, there were like three more boys in the class on top of the few who already were part of it (it was the type of class people would take all years), but they only took it because it was an easy A, and they were TERRIBLE at acting. No emotion. Flat. No effort. It killed my soul. (Also why I mentioned how I think theater or music experience should’ve been required. They took up those spots from people who actually cared.)

Theater/Choir teachers having super unhealthy relationships with their favorite students that often leads to the teacher living vicariously through them and causes a divide between them and the rest of the class, which the teacher basically encourages instead of trying to keep the peace and make sure everyone is growing and learning

This was basically the two teachers that were in charge of the Newsies musical at my school. Basically they made most of the non white kids the villains (including me, I played Morris). It was so bad that my parents never aloud me to go audition again, but I’m kind of thankful for that.
Just a tiny reminder that the hole “you need practice time in my apartment” is definitely funny in a dumb skit, but it happens in the real world too. The reason I am saying it, is because female p*dos does not get the same attention and punishment that male ones does. Sometimes, it has been completely confirmed that these grown women, have had inappropriate relationships with teenage boys, and their teaching license doesn’t even get taken away. They barely gets punished, and can then continue doing what they do. I appreciate the short for calling out this behaviour out, in a more lighthearted way. And sadly portraying how people in real life doesn’t care, as much as they would if the genders were switched. It’s a funny joke, that portrays a very real problem.
