I think anyone who understands the fight game knows Alex has a higher chance of winning just based on his skill and technique, but given Khalil's own power, it's not unreasonable to expect Alex to get caught. Anything can happen in a fight between two men. Especially between two guys with explosive KO power. Also, beating Saki means very little in the context of MMA. There's been a ton of stand up fighters who have tried their hand at MMA, and very little of them can transition successfully. Many of them can never let go of the fear of being taken down to strike with their full confidence and ability. And depending on their striking style (how they guard against strikes) they may not be able to block or parry strikes with the smaller gloves.
I haven’t watched the video so don’t @ me if my take is the same as Weasle’s, but this is the way I could see the upset happening; Rountree fights Southpaw, so that takes away Alex’s rear calf kick, instead he has to throw the same left calf kick that he threw against Jiri and Hill. I think Rountree’s best chance is to time him throwing that left kick and rush him and just hope for one of his punches to knock Alex out or at least hurt him to the point where he gets the fight to the ground where he can gnp him to finish.
Imagine Khalil knocks down Alex off the leg kick, following him to the ground, only for Alex to throw a viscous up kick and KO Khalil He’d be the goat forever
There's one mental weapon that rountree has that none of alex's previous opponents didn't have: humility. He doesn't fight with smugness like jan, hill or jiri
I’m not sure how to feel about this fight. Khalil has lost to significantly lower competition and he’s not a wrestler. I wouldn’t feel confident picking him to win. But it’s also MMA so I’m expecting some bullshit lol. I feel like I’m being gaslit into thinking Khalil can win
I think if the fight isn't over quick Roundtree will gas out. I watched some of his fight recently it seems like he get tired quickly. I doubt he'll win but I'm still rooting for him as the underdog.
You guys need to realize just because guys were Kickboxers or Champion Kickboxers it doesnt make them these Gods at Striking, tons of MMA fighters are better strikers. The talent pool in Kickboxing is even smaller than MMA and a ton of kickboxers have an NPC Kickboxing style, Saki was one of those and he made it to the top with it. The style is, Throw a hard combination at opponents guard and end it with a leg kick ---> Block the Opponent doing the SAME thing ---> Throw hard combination ending with leg kick ---> repeat. Kickboxers arent super skilled strikers like regular Boxers or some MMA fighters, some are, but most arent, especially the heavier you go and even lower, like Fiziev literally has no jab to control distance or score points as hes tiring or theres dead time.
The only way I’ve been really seeing Khalil possibly catching Alex is off a leg kick and this definitely made me picture it even more but it’s still super low chances
@adub92199 That's why I made this breakdown. It's the best way I think Rountree can win. Alex most likely wins but this is Rountree's strategy to win imo.
the division is in its least exciting state outside of pereira himself. this fight is only an intermission to seeing a rematch between him and hill because hills delusion is making that fight more desirable.
So crazy that Roundtree got suspended for banned substances, then out of nowhere they over turned the suspension, then gift him a title shot.. People complained when O'Malley got a shot even tho he proved he can hang with the best after that close elite battle against Petr Yan. +O'Malley did put on a bunch of really promising performances over a long period of time. We've seen a handful of other people get gifted way quicker and easier paths to a title contender spot
It’s funny I watched a breakdown of Khalil vs Anthony and I seen Khalil going 2 down the middle and it was pretty fast and I thought the same thing wow he could catch Alex just like that… then I just realized Alex doesn’t turn over when kicking he literally flicks it out and at the weirdest time and it happens so fast idk if it’s possible to counter him clean if counter at all
There's always a chance for a noob to take out a pro in any striking altercation. It's just the nature of striking engagements. It's different from submission grappling. It's a question of who can read the opponents movements better and capitalize the chances that present themselves. Promising an all out striking battle in an MMA fight is a little narrow minded. Especially with such a high stakes match.
It's not like Khalil made that movement and countered of off some kind of tell that Saki was throwing the kick. He just caught him as he was throwing it. This really seems like a reach just because Alex throws kicks too. Would you be making the same argument for Aldo to not punch again becuase he got countered by Mcgregor?
I will also breakdown Alex Pereira's paths to victory, should be a simple gameplan for Alex to win. If Rountree KOs Alex though, that might make him one of the best strikers in the sport. Beating two Glory Champions with only his striking skills would be such an insane achievement.

Leg kicking technique of Alex is different than saki..to be clear @weaselmma 😊
That's literally what the weasel said.
My man’s name is a litteral Goku and Gohan Fusion
Imagine Khalil knocks down Alex off the leg kick, following him to the ground, only for Alex to throw a viscous up kick and KO Khalil
He’d be the goat forever
There's one mental weapon that rountree has that none of alex's previous opponents didn't have: humility. He doesn't fight with smugness like jan, hill or jiri
I’m not sure how to feel about this fight. Khalil has lost to significantly lower competition and he’s not a wrestler. I wouldn’t feel confident picking him to win. But it’s also MMA so I’m expecting some bullshit lol. I feel like I’m being gaslit into thinking Khalil can win
That’s before he went to Thailand. He is much better now.
@@everettenjeze6276 He arguably lost to Jacoby
I think if the fight isn't over quick Roundtree will gas out. I watched some of his fight recently it seems like he get tired quickly. I doubt he'll win but I'm still rooting for him as the underdog.
I believe Rountree will win. Pereira is not taking this seriously
Yeah a lot of the glory guys were not as good as people think I feel like
Everybody trying to discredit rountree like he picked the opponent….which one of yu can take a rountree punch? Exactly
Consistently the best analysis. Thank you. Pleeeeeeeeeeease take over at the UFC.
Because he was old and our of his prime obviously
I woke up an was like wtf is it already sunday
Saw the title and thought I was in an alternate timeline.
the division is in its least exciting state outside of pereira himself. this fight is only an intermission to seeing a rematch between him and hill because hills delusion is making that fight more desirable.
Everyone talk how Khalil can win but on Saturday he's gonna be sleeping on the octagon in the first round
Everyone counting roundtree out is crazy
Look at Roundtrees accuracy ….. also look at roundtrees striking defense……….. 😂😂😂
Leg kicks aside it’s the left hook that has to be avoided at all cost any set up in where that connects we all know what going happen
It’s funny I watched a breakdown of Khalil vs Anthony and I seen Khalil going 2 down the middle and it was pretty fast and I thought the same thing wow he could catch Alex just like that… then I just realized Alex doesn’t turn over when kicking he literally flicks it out and at the weirdest time and it happens so fast idk if it’s possible to counter him clean if counter at all
BRO WITH THE THAI MUSIC ON Q 🤣🤣🤣
I feel like Alex is goin to be very boxing heavy in this fight.
Oblique kicks win this for khalil
left hook to the jaw in rd 3. Khalil has no shot
Gokhan is a badass name
Rountree winning would be the most mma thing to happen
I almost bet on Khalil with the good odds but then i saw the johnny walker fight
I'd love to see Roundtree win this one and take the belt but I'm not betting on it.
Alex also finished Justin Jacoby first round in kick boxing. Roundtree went to a close decision with Jacoby.
Oh nooooooo ... The Weasle strikes again.
It’s annoying that we have to pretend like Rountree isn’t going to get slept in the first round just to get hyped about the fight. Like, come on man.
It's not like Khalil made that movement and countered of off some kind of tell that Saki was throwing the kick. He just caught him as he was throwing it. This really seems like a reach just because Alex throws kicks too. Would you be making the same argument for Aldo to not punch again becuase he got countered by Mcgregor?
if rountree and smth walk into a room, who walks out on paper... to help rua or saki with there senior applications?.
