It actually is something to dance along to. Minimal is the genre where the actual elements of what makes a person move and proper musical progression are explored to their utmost.
what you really need in these videos is good mics rather than very big videos (not that I don't want it to be in 1080 , but I think the sound quality is more important)
remember its 5o'clock in Amsterdam..sure they dance..softer..DJ in the middle of the crowd...even findes some time to talk to ppl...awesome..real shit...yeah sneeg...as you said...great set

I always thought he must simply have a few dedicated isolated drum hits always on the ready, and trigger them from the X1 controller to the right of his mixer. Watching it again now, I think it's just his send effects. Maybe with a button toggle instead of a knob. Anyway... cool as ice.

You would think that set up would be quite off putting,the crowd on your shoulder but i played a party with the same layout and it's wicked,once you get your head around it you can feel the energy even more as it's intimate.
Perhaps spinning records doesn't necessitate the same depth of knowledge that creating harmonies might. But in that place, DJing requires a very different skill set - a sense of empathy with the crowd, the ability to select records that resonate with the dancers, knowledge and facility with the technology involved, and so on. And even with these differences, it is the same fundamental musicality that gives both the DJ and the musician their talent.
