Wildfire in Florina, Greece 1988 (super 8mm film)

On November 4, 1988, a large wildfire broke out in the northern part of the exurban forest of Florina, at Ypsoma (mound) 1033, in Greece. In the film we see a series of Canadair firefighting aircraft approaching the Great Prespa lake to fill with water. In the background is the Devas mountain. The filmmaker, from a point on the Florina-Prespa road, records the smoke-covered Florina, between the slopes of the burning Mound 1033.
We see shots of smaller areas of the fire, as we can discern some firefighters working on the ground to keep the flames from reaching the road. In that fire, two seasonal forest firefighters lost their lives and two survived with serious burns.
The film closes with a shot of a Canadair entering and disappearing in the thick smoke above Florina.
