I love the John and Josh combo! Josh! I enjoy hearing what you have to say no matter what I personally believe! Personally, I am confident enough in my political opinion to not feel so offended when someone says something that I do or don't agree with. Thank you for sharing your position and for challenging my thoughts on some things. Keep on growin'!

John, please read. Everything both of you said about gardening and larger issues is on point and needs to be heard. I personally think this is one of your best episodes ever. I love it when I hear people say say "do it for free" even though they have product to sell. I always thought Josh pushed his products too much, but he redeemed himself entirely in this episode. Thanks, and keep being the change! You and Jake Mace (and OneYardRevolution and Plant Abundance) have inspired me more than I can say, and because of you guys I (and a couple neighbors) have started a neighborhood gardening collective. I really believe it is one very important part of the path to a good future. Keep it up and please never sell out because we all need you guys so much. Keep on growin!

I have started my own small farm this year. I hope to get certified organic in the coming years. I have a few compost bins going. One just wood chips all made from dead fall or pruned trees from my property, one of leafs, one of a mix and one for the wood chips from my chickens. I have a worm bin and I have made a mineral mix of rock dusts and kelp meal ext. my practices are a mix of all the information from you and others like you on UA-cam. So thank you! 🤙🏻

My personal belief is that when we begin to learn to grow veggies from natural seeds, and eat the way John is suggesting, we will begin to have a return to the ability to think for ourselves...and in turn recover the ability to appreciate and care for our great mother. Thanks to you both!!

nice discussion, liked the fact that this was a live event, not snipped to remove disagreements... also the guest is intense, maybe too much so, but he feels honest, and I liked the fact that he didn't plug his own product as being the best, rather he actually said that it is A PREMIUM product which can be like a high octane addition to the basics of gardening

You two are so cool. Watching you made me feel like I was hanging out with sincere, good hearted & similarly dedicated and impassioned people. Good for you. Thank you for sharing. You have inspired me to become a "tea head" , by introducing me to the phrase bc I was leaning that way already. I can't wait to learn more. I am also into horticultural oils and I want to start using my plants for essential oil mixes. I can't wait to find out what you guys think/do. Thank you for existing. I learned so much. Had you not called my attention to the GMO/mulch chemical treatment ect. I would not have addressed it. I wrote down the phrase "polluting the compost food chain." Very impactful. Keep it up you two. Another thing I ABSOLUTELY loved was the amount of science casually dropped all over the place. Tip of my hat good sirs.

Hey guy's, keep up the good work's, I'm new to the realization of actually how bad the war on food has become . My Health has finely come to a point it's letting me down . Then to learn through you & many other educational sources of what's really been going on , with our required nutrition's . I grew up living with a great family garden , & raising our own beef cattle & live stock .
I've enjoyed creating my own raised bed garden's & the result's from them . Unfortunately I fell into the working in other fields for a living for many year's, only to realize now just how bad this plastic banana stuff is causing so many health Issue's . So thanks again , I'm waking up to it , all in & getting back to real food , with awareness, as to how & what we need to use , to get our food chain back on track ! Looking forward to creating a great 2017 garden & become involved with market gardening & to assist anyone I can to also live life healthier with there own garden's ! Shame on our FDA for miss leading us , as to believing in them for we the people's own best food's, for health & prosperity & letting the greed of Corps. ruin our health ! Hang in there my Friend & HAPPY GARDEN"S for all ! - Ron

If you are in Humboldt or Mendo counties then it shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise you will need to ask your local dispensary to, (in turn), ask their cultivators for fresh leaves. (They will need to keep the leaf bags in their fridge -should keep just like salad mix for a week or so). Otherwise, check your local craigslist for "215" offers, (clones, buds, etc). Contact the provider(s) and ask if they have any extra leaf available.

I am with Ron, I use his products, and he has some really good information. In his rants, he needs to supply a link for his info, because so much of what he says, politically, is just not accurate. To sing the praises of Cuba, he definately needs to supply a timeline because Cuba hasn't exuded love since before Castro. Gardening, I think he is spot on!!! I love your videos. But these blanket political statements need to be supported with unbiased reports. That said, if we all do as if doing it for Jesus Christ, we would all have love in all that we do.

Wasn't surprised he said BEER. Just got through watching a guy showing how fast he can make compost by mowing his huge lawn for the greens and adding a huge pile of hardwood chips for the browns, and then dumps a can of coke, a can of beer, and a cup of ammonia onto the pile. Covers it in dirt, puts a tarp over that 5-foot pile, and in 2 weeks the whole thing has composted into a beautiful crumbly dirt. I didn't understand it all, but then he explains how the beer hops etc do their job. I don't drink beer, but will get some to try out on that HUGH pile of hardwood chips I have. It would be wonderful if I didn't have to wait 4 years for it to break down enough for me to use. (could have done without the political drivel though)

I used the black frass on all my plants but on the plant with the termites the surface grew this strange fungal furr and I saw flies crawling out. After i watered it with the boogie brew it went down into the soil and it was not fur.. the plant has never looked as healthy as it does. I'm not lying the next morning when I looked at my plants they were exploding with growth and turned dark GREEN! Even my tomatoes look dark green healthy now after less than 24 hours

I enjoy listening to people's various views and beliefs on as many topics as possible, including politics and religion, so I don't have any desire for you guys to stop doing so :)
I find it odd that people react with such vitriol to the opinions of those outside their groupthink circles. You're clearly here because you find value in what these people say about gardening (or you're trolling), so why not at least listen to some of their opinions about other things weaved between. No one is simply of one mind, focused on one thing, without any other thoughts; Why expect that?
Do I agree 100% with either one of them on any subject I heard them discuss in this video? No. But I don't agree with myself 100% of the time, and that, my friends, is called life and the process of growth.

Thank you John for making this video! I have recently subscribed and began watching your very information-packed shows for about 2 months, since I have inherited command of a community garden in Overtown, Miami, Florida. I tend to a small lot in the care of the Overtown Youth Center, for the kids in their educational after school program, and the previous lead on the garden program was neglectful about the soil health. So, after a year the soil is thin, yet barely holding leafy greens, some herbs, and a few tomatoes in the ground. His sad attempt at boxes harbored snails and fell apart once we managed to relocate them to a more sunny area. John, I would like to reach out to you with our ongoing project, please could you lend your expertise to our space?

Great sounding blend, go for a couple of pounds of rock dust for each 10 sq ft of garden space. Also, we totally spaced BIOCHAR. (!). Up to 5% of your soil mix can benefit enormously from biochar, it is a superb "regulator" in the soil engine.

Thank you Sara for putting up with Boogie's diatribe: Apologize for politics. The whole point was meant to be that there is no left vs right. The only battle that matters is the one to save us from ourselves! Liberalism won't save us, nor will the most strident conservatives either. Our planet is DYING, 2/3 of wild species are going EXTINCT and this whole place is heating up something fierce. More plastic in the oceans than fish = nothing to do with politics, everything to do with NOT RAPING OUR PLANET. So the main thing IS the main thing = mobilizing NOW to stop things getting ever worse.Down with the OIL-IGARCHY. Up with natural gardening.

How can I buy the Real Organic Solution Premium Worm Castings? And if that is it, then why doesn't it say that?

All you guys crying about the politics here, are soft, and need to get a thicker skin.....like this should be so offensive. If you are tired with Josh, then don't watch the vids with him in it....simple. Josh brings far more knowledge than politics.

@@BoogieBrew There is a great documentary called "the Power of Community", which is based on the same event mentioned. It's about how Cuba survived their abrupt withdrawal from Soviet aid, when the USSR collapsed, and could send no more oil, or petrol.
I never idealize Cuba, but in this case, they did prioritize assurance of everyone's survival during that time...it was through government coordination, and resource allocation, along with citizen action. They were left with almost no petrol, so they cleverly rationed what they had left, then had to learn "old timey" organic ways of growing food, everybody was issued a bicycle, and (barely) survival amount of food. Every square inch of arable land was transformed into vegetable gardens. They invited old folks that remembered how to drive oxen to teach the modernized young, thus ignorant. The soil had been ruined from decades of chemical fertilizers, and needed to be restored.
It sure contrasted with the other Soviet dependent state, North Korea, where millions were left to starve.
The term "love" is over generously applied, I'm sure, but their success was a result of an unprecedented spirit of cooperation, along with their government that did take correct action. On a national level, that is as close to "love" as anyone will ever want to get... heh heh.
I am writing here in the midst of this pandemic, and I ponder what the US has become...and is turning into. When the stream of foreign goods gets turned off like a tap (including oil), will we choose "love"?

I'd have a lot of people in the comments here contemplate the degree to which the stuff John and Josh are talking about here is not about political positioning. Issues of sustainability and health have much more to do with morality and planetary well being. These are issues that everyone should care about. Question who would have you believe that the issues being discussed here are 'lefty' issues. They're not. They're human issues and environmental issues. Politicians who would convince you that caring about these issues is 'lefty' are not interested in any true political ideology. They're just greedy.

    • @helicart
      @helicart 6 років тому +2

The left as a political ideology doesn't know which way is up.
      - If the left truly cared about global warming, they'd aggressively push people to eat less animals. They don't, and I don't know one democrat politician who is vegan.
      - If they truly cared about global warming, they'd aggressively reduce the global population. They don't. Instead they encourage high breeding developing world nations to come to the USA and put more pressure on the environment here.
      - If the left truly cared about sustainabil;ity, they'd give tax breaks to local communities trying to be self sustainable. But they don't. They want higher taxes collected by an ever more powerful centralist government that redistributes local initiative and wealth creation to those exercising less initiative.
I am a libertarian. I can do permaculture and regenerative agriculture. I can do farmer's markets. I can sell to locals.
I can trade produce in a cashless economy, and barter other goods and services.
I can do all that and not be a socialist. The difference is I decide what I produce and how I sell it. I don't need elitists telling me how to do it.

@@helicart whoa. high breeding nations and population control. hmmm. why dont u hang out bill gates and work on his medicine and vaccines programs in dev world. cant support u on any even slightly eugenist notions. racism. high breeding. oh man.

    • @helicart

      @@truthseekertree .
Fertility rate stats by ethnicity by nation, and US ethnic group, are in the public domain, .
The democrats know breeding rates are higher among third world migrants.
Encouraging migration from these nations is a primary tool for them to win elections.
As an example, take Rashida Tlaib. Her father and mother came to the USA childless.
After 2 years working in auto manufacturing, the parents proceeded to pump out 14 children, and never had to go to work again due to welfare benefits. Rashida is the eldest.
That's one version of the American Dream.
People create environmental pressure. Less people reduce the pressure. You either want to save the planet, or you are happy for people to keep being paid by leftist governments to breed.
You cannot support both, which is quite the moral dilemma for leftists.
