    What a team! Love how you are supporting the neighbours by hiring them instead. Koodos to your neighbours for helping you out as well.

    Things are looking great! It's going to look so good, I can just see the grass neatly grown and cut, with a rock sidewalk to greenhouse, outhouse and car parking area, and your flowers along each side Lori!!! The blue berries and raspberries all in their own little patches.

    Excellent!! So glad you could pay a neighbor instead of a rental coming. That's homesteading at its finest

    Hi, my niece bought ear protector head phones to protect her little one. Then you can make as much noise as you need too. I hope the raspberries and other plants survive. Why not overwinter them in the pots in your greenhouse. Then plant them where you want them to stay. Your neighbor did a wonderful job of clearing the land.Love the arial views.

    Babies get used to noise, so chain saw would have been ok, as long as she not too close of course. Love what you are doing and all the thought that goes into your different projects.

    First: really like to follow your journey!
    I would strongly recommend you getting some protection. Boots, pants, helmet with eye and ear protection and so on. You are human, and humans make mistakes. Sooner or later you will make one also, and how much you get hurt depends on luck and equipment.
    In the video you put your saw down, stand in the "fall down zone" of the tree and pull on a rope or is it a "polling thing" (dont know English word). Tree starts to go, you step to the saw, in danger zone, pick it up and then get away.... The camera angle might give a wrong view, but it looks a bit..... Not ok... 😅
    Please think "worst case" every time. Plan your "escape", clear your "escape" before sawing. Better to be safe than sorry! Use 1-2 minutes extra, your deserve it! The 2 others deserve it!
    Please dont take this in a bad way. I and I am sure everyone else just want you to be safe. 😊

    Solar kiln?

    • @remotelifealaska
      @remotelifealaska  5 місяців тому +1

      This will be a room to dry green lumber using the heat of the sun.
      Essentially a room with clear walls and roof and a fan for airflow.
      Compared to just letting the lumber air dry in covered storage this will cut our dry time down from a couple years to a month or so. This should also help prevent warping and cracking.
      For more information on it check out Oregon State Solar Kiln.

      Cody has cut hundreds of trees with little issue. The 3 troublesome trees in this video were leaning away from where he wanted to drop them so they needed some coaxing to go the intended direction.

      Looks like they are making do, but it can’t be easy especially with a baby. I would have a tough time in the winter with the lack of windows and sunlight. The clutter inside would bother me too. They go without and make due to follow their dreams. True pioneers. I’m rooting for them.
