Breaking Ground - Clearing land for our big summer project

- After a slow start to our short Alaskan summer, we are finally starting our next big build. We hired a neighbor to clear ground to make way for a multiple use building.
This will house our firewood, be shelter for our side by side, cover for the sawmill, and also utilize the roof for our solar panels as well as create a solar kiln to dry and store the lumber we mill.

❤Love how you're wanting to keep alive the naturally found Alaska native edible and medicinal plants❤
What a team! Love how you are supporting the neighbours by hiring them instead. Koodos to your neighbours for helping you out as well.
Niiiice work. Good neighbor to know. That area looks great, and less mosquitoes!
Great video Cody and Lori
Awesome work you two, looking forward to seeing the new building!
Lot of progress in a short amount of time with that dozer.
Lots of hard work but you guys have done a wonderful job, looks really nice.
Babies get used to noise, so chain saw would have been ok, as long as she not too close of course. Love what you are doing and all the thought that goes into your different projects.
I loved the way it looked after all the debris was cleared out. Gives you a ton of room :)
Great maneuver with the berry bush! You guys are rocking it! Congratulations!
Team work makes the dream work.
Great work both of you! Awesome to pay your neighbor instead. Looking forward to the progress! I hope your plants all survive the move.
WooHoo! Glad you guys are working on a wood shed! Gonna be a game changer.
Looking great ! All your hard work is showing more and more. Living the dream!! God bless!!
New subscriber! You both have made so much progress in just a year...a reliable tractor will be a game changer.
Greetings from Australia. You two make marriage partners. Well done.
I have caught up on all your videos. Look everyday for a new one!
Nice work on the clearing. You've got an awesome neighbor. Good luck with the building projects!
Cool project today. Good thinking. I thot that tree would never fall. Ha.
Hi, my niece bought ear protector head phones to protect her little one. Then you can make as much noise as you need too. I hope the raspberries and other plants survive. Why not overwinter them in the pots in your greenhouse. Then plant them where you want them to stay. Your neighbor did a wonderful job of clearing the land.Love the arial views.
Things are looking great! It's going to look so good, I can just see the grass neatly grown and cut, with a rock sidewalk to greenhouse, outhouse and car parking area, and your flowers along each side Lori!!! The blue berries and raspberries all in their own little patches.
Nice pallet trick
You should try to get a wood chipper and all the branches and small stuff you can turn into mulch for the garden or muddy ground
Excellent!! So glad you could pay a neighbor instead of a rental coming. That's homesteading at its finest
Good progress! happy you have a neighbor who is helping with the excavating. Good Luck with the build!
Nice work guys, wish I could be that far ahead but as is usual for everybody, funding can be a drag.
But I am getting there, one weekend at a time and be living here (30ish miles north of you)this coming winter.
My channel documents any progress and hiccups I encounter
Great video! Great job! ❤
Great job cutting trees down Cody

Awesome video. You achieved your target by clearing the area in a week, with the help of your kind neighbour. Looking forward to the next stage. Take care. Love and hugs to Rowan. 🇦🇺 fan.

Great job 😀hi from Colorado Springs 😀
Love your videos. Is this a-frame a temporary home. Will you be making a bigger home as your family grows
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Are you ever going to get your well done this year?
Are you going to build a shop to store all your things laying around? Greetings from Australia.
love the project idea, l do have one question though, how come you guys are not looking to expand your living space, now that you are two and a half, as soon as she starts becoming mobile you'll be wishing for more space
Do not let your parents watch the tree cutting part of these vids😣 What about adding some weight to that pallet?
Solar kiln?
This will be a room to dry green lumber using the heat of the sun.
Essentially a room with clear walls and roof and a fan for airflow.
Compared to just letting the lumber air dry in covered storage this will cut our dry time down from a couple years to a month or so. This should also help prevent warping and cracking.
For more information on it check out Oregon State Solar Kiln.
Love you guys. Hope all is well with you guys! I thought you guys were going to build your own home? The cabin your in was suppose to be a guest cabin. Well Bless you all ❤️🇨🇦
hi, you need to put some bricks or heavy rock on float.
WHY?
You need to have some one show you how to drop trees or its all ways going to be a fight if u have to do it the way ur going about it or one is going to end up on top of you good luck & god bless
Cody has cut hundreds of trees with little issue. The 3 troublesome trees in this video were leaning away from where he wanted to drop them so they needed some coaxing to go the intended direction.
Why don't you try to finish your home inside?
Everybody has different priorities ad with the super short summers we get here in alaska... save the inside jobs for the long, cold and dark winters
I thought that would happen last winter.
Looks like they are making do, but it can’t be easy especially with a baby. I would have a tough time in the winter with the lack of windows and sunlight. The clutter inside would bother me too. They go without and make due to follow their dreams. True pioneers. I’m rooting for them.
Jeremiah 20:11
King James Version
11 But the Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.Gods blessings over you .
Wow! What a change in the land. The clearing is going great!
