I had the pleasure of opening Victoria Drum Fest this year out in gorgeous Victoria B.C. Trust me when I tell y'all how grateful I was...and still am to have been invited to perform at this cool event. I started making drum videos in the basement 18 years ago. The introduction and walk up those stage steps was definitely a defining moment for me! 😊
That's what I said. He showed independence and odd time signature but also kept rhythm in his solo. Also focused on the slow and subtle but precise drumming.
Excellent as always! Just want to thank you for your amazing videos. To this day , I use some of your exercises and wisdom on the drums. I've been playing a long time but the journey still continues and you've helped me to continue the quest. Once again. Thanks Beatdown! Keep on keepin on! 🔥🥁❤️
Great playing! Your solo tells a story - intricate, entertaining and such a pleasure to watch/hear. Much more interesting than so many others that only worry about speed. Well Done Mr. Beatdown Sir! 👏
That's pretty good, Rob Brown, I like the hi-hat foot thing when you're playing the rest of the RHS of he kit and I think a lot of non-musicians wonder how you do that!
Rob it was great watching your live performance. Your drumming was a story that unfolded gradually. The gentle kiss on the drums was fabulous. It was smooth like a whisky. The whole episode was very peaceful. ❤
Congratulations, Rob. Your instructional videos have made a huge impact on this drum enthusiast. It’s fun to see you get this platform and nail it. Well done.
Terrific playing, Rob. I have friends and family in the Victoria area and all over the island and was over there two weeks ago. Hope you enjoyed your stay.
Rob, Your teaching methods have always reached me. It has so very much helped me with my approach to playing drums. To me you are the best. Your teachings really has helped me to identify sub divisions in my playing. Excellent instruction with some good natured humor mixed in! My favorite UA-cam Drum Teacher.💯
Not only does he play a amazing and dynamic solo, but the sound of Rob's drums and cymbals are incredibly well defined and present in the mix (yup,a solo)-i am a big fan of the 8x14 wooden snare drum,Metal shells also-not to loud, not ringing, but sittting right in the middle of everything.good ,or rather-GREAT solo, and awesome videos in the lessons online.
Ahhhhh Rob this was like a 5 course meal man!!! Plenty of taste, texture, and tranquility. Totally brought me to a chill perspective. Kit and cymbals sound amazing as well. Keep them coming Rob...we need this!
Beautiful solo Mr Brown! Kept me dancing in the chair while watching till the last seconds :) I wonder if you use any hearing protection while gigging and practicing?
I immediately got some very strong Steve Gadd, Mark Brzezicki and Stewart Copeland grooves here. I saw Procol Harum 4 times live with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and in 1992, Mark Brzezicki was the drummer. (I am a fan of Big Country too.) I saw James Taylor live in Edmonton, in 2016, and Steve Gadd was the drummer. Around 2018, or 2019, I saw Stewart Copeland live with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, playing along to the silent film, Ben Hur. It would be really cool to see you live. Your drumming is phenomenal. Cheers, Rob! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️🥁🇨🇦
awesome soloing and invitation to jam Rob, thought i heard that Level 42 Chant beat somewhere in there?.. lol.. love your work brotha, keep it up, much love! 👍🏾👍🏾🥁🥁
Awesome! I'm more about these technical "groove solos" compared to "hit everything the fastest you can solos". However, the rimshot at the end, on the tom, should have triggered you to end it with MORE RIMSHOTS! 🥁🎉
Pretty work my friend. It seems so many people are focused on crazy displays of independence and odd time signatures and you end up with a solo that has no sense of rhythm throughout. Also focused on the slow and subtle with precision, we all know is the hardest. You displayed it all in this solo.
Dr. Brown, if practicing say the Stick Control book, do you suggest putting more of my practice time towards practicing with all accented (very loud) hits or do you suggest using more of my practice time practicing with very light hits? Awesome solos and videos as always you’re a true gem. Much love from Mid-West Canada
Nice! Love the musicality and chops. I've been following you for a long time, and it's always great to hear you play. QQ: where was the audio feed coming from though? The kit looks close mic'ed, but the audio sounds like a single audience mic.

✌🏼🙏🏼
Just curious have you switched back to match grip🤔 I know you do both, but was just wondering😄🥁🤘🏻
Love it Brother 🙏
What I really enjoy about Rob is that you can’t separate Rob from his groove.. they’re one and the same. When you hear his groove you hear Rob.
Thanks man 😊
A drum solo should be played like chapters in a book....yours was all the chapters of a great novel. You are the man!
That's what I said. He showed independence and odd time signature but also kept rhythm in his solo. Also focused on the slow and subtle but precise drumming.
Rob, you're a machine. One of the best drum channels, and my favorite instructor!
Thanks a ton, man 👊🏽
Persistence, hard work and TALENT. Way to go, Rob.
Thanks for sharing this, Rob. Everything you play is tasteful and inspiring.

Very tasty! I really like solos that are variations off a groove.
Sick one brotha . Always holdn down the smoothest back beat. Much love

Nice! Feeling your matched grip self today :) Held interest w/dynamics, rhythmic changes, occasional flurries...I'll call this another lesson. Thanks! Edit: Beautiful kit!

When Bruce Lee said, "Be water, my friend," this is what I envision. Thanks for your originality, dedication, and humbleness toward your craft, Rob!
Wow. Thanks man 🙏🏽🙂

Good to see you getting after it man!
That's pretty good, Rob Brown,
I like the hi-hat foot thing when you're playing the rest of the RHS of he kit and I think a lot of non-musicians wonder how you do that!
So musical. That was excellent!

Congratulations, Rob. Your instructional videos have made a huge impact on this drum enthusiast. It’s fun to see you get this platform and nail it. Well done.

Hello, from Finland!!!😀👍
Wuddup Finland! Greets from Canada 🇫🇮🫱🏼🫲🏾🇨🇦
Awesome! I'm more about these technical "groove solos" compared to "hit everything the fastest you can solos".
However, the rimshot at the end, on the tom, should have triggered you to end it with MORE RIMSHOTS! 🥁🎉
Sorry, I got a fever, but I need MORE RIMSHOTS! ❤
I love the stare at the end where it looks like you're asking: "Was that okay?"
