I just played this game. It's good, solid 8/10. I liked the branching story that interconnects everything. Nier Automata 2017, Metal Gear 1-2 and Titanfall 2 has a better story involving mechs though.
Man, Deoxyribose is by far one of the greatest songs ever made. Switches from uplifting to inspirational, to fast paced, to suddenly metal, to intense, and back to uplifting. It is a GLORIOUS song.

When I have to do something that I know Its gonna be hard to accomplish, I play LEUCINE 0:35:46 and this song gives me the strenght i need. Its like if someone said to you, "I know its hard, I know its gonna be, but you have to do this, and I know you can. Face the lazyness, face the fear, face the lack of motivation, you got this". And I get in the mood to just fight everything and everyone.
Seaside Vacation is no less then heroic and pure. If so many persons get strong positive vibes from this game and this soundtrack maybe there is still hope...

I love how the title of some of the songs are straight up amino acids. Leucine, phenylalanine, histidine, etc. What does it all mean!? Are the Kaiju actually the 20 essentials amino acids?
Yeah, all of the combat themes are named like that, and the boss themes are named after DNA. Considering the games ending, I think it makes some sense...
It ties up with the game lore. Kaijus are UC's simulated projections of the code that Ryoko Shinonome modified from the original code Okino copy-pasted. Ryoko Shinonome 2188 is a genetic engineer (hence the amino acids). It's also worth mentioning that Ryoko's Deimos Code is a euthanization protocol, we are figuratively rejecting the euthanization using the sentinels as some sort of antibodies. I imagine that the theme song is using essentials amino acids because we are upgrading our sentinels via meta upgrades, which is basically hacking via the UC (outside from their bodies, kind of like how essentials amino acids really is). So, it's not the theme song of the kaiju but rather the sentinels that is upgraded to handle the battle.
The soundtrack is so good. It remind me a lot one of my favorite game (Opoona), made by the same composer team (Hitoshi Sakimoto/Basiscape). PS: Especially 50:20. ;)

I really liked this game: the visual novel, the real-time strategy stages, the aesthetics, the soundtrack, the plot... except for the very conclusion of the story. I was really disappointed by that. In any case, I highly recommend it for the great overall experience.
[Spoiler alert for person who hasn't finished the game yet] Waiting for a long time to play this game. English translate come in 2020. Can't buy it because of pandemic affecting my economy. Wait until early 2021 to buy it. Can't play it immediately because of work. I just finished it now in one week. Very satisfied with the story. The story keeps giving you more surprise in each character arc. In about 1/4 progress of the story, I take a look at all possible information and combination to deduce what is the real worldbuilding settings this game has. I predict it correctly, but still, near the very end of the story, the game drop a plot twist bomb: I didn't even consider at all that the pilot enter the sentinel cockpit naked is not just fan service. It's a legit plot mechanic, consistent with the world building. I got completely mindblown.
Seeing naked pilot upon cockpit entry, but immediately have clothes upon ejecting: "Oh, probably typical japan plot hole. They want to give fan service but avoiding rating issue" Upon revealing that naked pilot is just consequences of the physical mechanic: "HOLY SHIT"
I just finished this game, it's easily one of the best games of 2020.
But it's a 2019 game...

They're also only essential amino acids. Meaning the ones you cannot produce yourself and have to be consumed from outside.
