For the turnstile for animal control, it's an adaptation of the original stile, which is a ladder built into a fence that allows a person to climb over the fence but just act as a fence for the animals.
10:00 after a month of you uploading this video i can confirm that there is something like that in the avlabari metro station that just opened exactly like how it is shown in the video but i dont think it works yet
another type of tripod turnstile I've only seen in Poland is the... bipod turnstile I guess? It's a tripod, but with one arm removed, which iirc makes it easier to cross them
the 1908 "London Underground Railways" predates harry becks map by over 20 years; London Underground Maps (Art, Design, and Cartography) by Claire Dobbin, on page 63, states that "for the first time in 1908, all of London's Underground railways appears as one integrated network" next to the image of said map. it also claims that this was published by UERL (Underground Electric Railways of London) & printed by Johnson, Riddle & Co Ltd.
There's actually a 4th way to evade fares : use the exit turnstiles. Some metro systems have shitty exit doors that will open for you even if you're on the wrong side, if you know how to activate them. Tripod turnstiles sucks. We have them in Paris, with complementary doors to block fare evaders but all they do is get in the way of everyone, even paying people. And they don't even stop fare evaders ! It's just a mess. I hate them so much. Useless and impractical. Thankfully they're slowly replacing them with modern swing gates turnstiles. Another great thing about swing gates turnstiles is that they can allow people through during emergencies. If you push hard enough against them for going out of the station, even if you're going the wrong way, the swing gates will let you through. Because when there's a fire or something, people don't usually think where they're going, they're just fleeing. They're much safer on that side. Lyon uses glass retractable turnstiles, and honestly they're great. They just hurt like hell when they close on me.
Good insight! Exit doors are quite the fare evasion dilemma for systems. The choice for the most person-friendly turnstile is quite difficult, because you do need consideration regarding the closing pains but also the ease of use and aesthetics. I hope you enjoyed the video!
The 5th way I’ve seen in Philly. 1-2 street dwellers will hang around the turnstile and offer a swipe for $1-$2 instead of $2.50 using senior/disabled or stolen septa key cards. Since theres a 15 min cooldown between swipes each card can only make at most $8 an hour

Excellent info!
@@TheTransitDiariesYep came here to say this but not as well. The consolidation was due to a massive nationalization (de-privatization) basically.
I wonder what train is it on 12:14 and where it goes :0
That's a GRS. It goes from Tbilisi to Batumi in Georgia :)
