This is one of those Japan-only games where you have to wonder why the fuck it wasn't localized. There's little to no text to translate, no licensing issues, no Japanese cultural content, and it's in a genre proven popular in the West, and on a console that was then in need of all the support it could get. what gives?
The game looked average from what I've heard it's pretty mediocre. Soundtrack sounds good though. Would've rather have seen something like Rent-A-Hero or Yu Yu Hakusho (either game).
it could be that the drum samples are at 8khz and the "filtering" media players use make it sound bad, this filtering does no occur on the console itself however.

That's some good FM. Some of the intruments used sound quite different from everything else the Japanese put out. A very interesting soundtrack, overall.
This is an awesome, but extremely difficult game. Still, it has an amazing soundtrack and is a unique experience as far as action platformers are concerned.
Another great OST upload, Dustin! I hate being another one of those request hijacks, but I was wondering if you could do Mugen Senshi Valis, SD Valis, and Sorcerer's Kingdom OSTs sometime? You've got the Valis III OST already, which is pretty cool too, but you're missing the other two from the series on the Genesis. Sorcerer's Kingdom had a pretty bomb soundtrack and was a decent tactical RPG, if a little bland and extremely obscure. Thank you for your dedication to the preservation of this amazing music!
If Dustin doesn't have the time to get to the original Valis then maybe I could record it for you if you wanted? I have a copy of the game (JP version so it has the soundtest), a Mega Drive VA6 and a good audio interface. I don't own any of those other games sadly.

The people who published the recent Streets of Rage album took down as many videos of the soundtracks as they could, that's why Dustin's is missing.
I wonder who this T's Music chappy / chappette is? They were also credited with the Mega CD version of Final Fight which was awesome
The soundtrack is really good composition wise, but the quality of the PCM samples is seriously lacking lol they sound like crap

The only problem I have with it are the pretty bad drum quality, but even then that doesn't ruin the soundtrack at all.

I like that Stage 1-1 theme soooo much. It sounds barbaric and melancholic, a very unique vibe dare I say.
Game always reminded me of a mixture of Golden Axe and Castlevania.
