- This is my speed run of Super Mario World in 10 minutes 31 seconds. I've been practicing running this game ever since I learnt the orb glitch way back in 2013. I've now managed to get a time I'm proud of!
I'll probably try and improve on this at a much later date, but who knows. This was just for fun as I really enjoy running this game.
This is a brand new series, as I've been messing around with running a few other games while making Son of a Glitch, so let me know if you want to see those.

one time in this game my brother threw a shell and fell into a bottomless pit and paused the game thinking he was going to die. just then as he unpaused, the shell bounced off a wall and under his feet and even though he didn't press a button, his momentum kept him going and saved him. most amazing moment in video game history. probably not though

it was nice seeing it done with only a minor glitch used. other then the cloud even i can accept it, and i HATE that speed run only focus on glitch abuse.
Pulse Fel there are different speedrun categories you know, there's any%, which is glitchless or glitches, there is 100%, which is what is in most games, and then other games have different categories

I really like this! I enjoy watching Awesome Games Done Quick because the runners explain the stuff they're doing alongside the footage, and this is that same kind of thing.

most glitches are found by deciphering the game into its code and reading the code over and over and over for vulnerabilities
Guys, Credits warp is a different category, called 0 exit. This is any%, or in SMW, 11 exit. You can also do 11 ext no major glitches, where you dont get Cloud or Orb. There are other special categories but Credits Warp WILL NOT count as an any% speedrun in SMW

I'm thinking of trying some SMW speedrunning since it's my fav Mario game and I know it the best (tho I'm def no expert).
I looked at the wiki and Small Mario seemed like a decent beginner one? I don't wanna start with something that's gonna take an hour or more to complete; I think 30 mins or less would be good.
@@clamum I've done a sub 30 SMW run with the cape with 11 exit (star road). I'm happy with it. Even though i still haven't submitted it, I got rank 700 something.

its actually really nice watching runs with post-run commentary rather than live commentary for once. its really cool hearing you detail your strats for a stage and watching them play out at the same time!

I'd love to see more of this. The combination of learning about glitches and then using them to cut a game to pieces in real time is something I really wish I knew more about.
Dude, this new show is amazing! I hope to see more speedruns like this, I can imagine how incredibly helpful it must be for people wanting to get into speedrunning to start somewhere like here where you are explaining whats going on, and doing a great job of it. As a fan of watching speedruns, this is fantastic. :)

+MCKid75 If I heard right (source: Sethbling), the faster Credits warp is very hard to do, and even if you do it, you get like 1 in a 100 chance, that it will succeed.

it is cheating... but thats fine, its not multiplayer or anything.
glitch speedruns are basicly cheating at the game. buts its fine to cheat at single player games because its not unfair to other players
OK I'm kinda quoting something here but,a glitch is NOT the game not doing what it was programmed to do,its doing exactly what it was programmed to do but in a non intended way.glitches are a malfunction in a games code,a cheat/hack is a modification of the games code,and NOT the game doing what it was programmed to do.also,glitches are almost always way harder than playing normally.In the original super Mario bros,go watch a tutorial and try to do any of the glitches and tell me which you think is harder,just hitting a flagpole normally or doing multiple frame perfect button presses.
Gotta love all the BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CREDITS WARP???? commenters that go eerily silent when they're told that this speedrun category doesn't allow the credits warp. As though all speedruns are judged against each other, regardless of route or technique.
They use category does judge it only for this game; since this game is the only one that has the credits warp
Astima Liam There are a couple other games that have similar glitches, actually! The original Pokémon games come to mind. The only other example I can think of off the top of my head is Kirby Super Star, but that particular credits warp is TAS-only.

I’ve been wondering, why wouldn’t you use the orb on Bowser’s Castle? Wouldn’t that be faster?
It technically counts as "beating the level" but not as beating Bowser, so it won't go to the ending. It just kicks you out to the overworld.
@@King-tk5bg Yeah, Speedruns only count up the credits ending as the time stop.
